I am a non-smoking professional currently living in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney and working at the Department of Health. My brother is a Vet so I grew up with a variety of pets and consequently I am able to take great care of yours. I am more than happy to provide updates of your pets well being while you are away - and to do other tasks such as collecting mail, watering plants, emptying the bins etc Having been the leaseholder in a share-house for several years, I am conscious of the care and security needed in keeping a home maintained. I can provide references, as well as a police clearance. I am a responsible, reliable and considerate person, and take excellent care of any home I stay in. I have travelled the world and have been a considerate guest wherever I have stayed. Please feel free to check my air bnb reviews as well: https://www.airbnb.com.au/users/show/73303154

Roger & Janette

  • East Lake Macquarie, Lower Hunter Valley, Port Stephens, Upper Hunter Valley, West Lake Macquarie, North Coast, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Snowy MTS, Southern Tablelands, Brisbane, South Eastern, Central Coast (Qld)

A caring respectful duo. We are a happy, quiet, easy going non-smoking mature couple who have raised 3 wonderful children and are now embracing a gradual transition to retirement. Roger spent 35 years working across all three levels of Government and Janette has just wound up a 22 year career with Big W. As we were pet owners most of our lives, and now have chosen to travel for a while, we love the opportunity to spend time and care for animals.

We have a beautiful home base in SE Qld from which we have embarked on a self sufficient camping trip around OZ and several long coastal reef sailing trips up the Queensland coast. These experiences are coupled with an early career for Roger as a Horticulturist and Janettes' great love of animals. Roger also grew up on an acreage with a variety of farm animals. This enables us to turn our hand to whatever tasks are necessary to manage and maintain property, plants and animals. We are honest, resourceful, reliable and happy with our own company and enjoying the environment we find ourselves in. We enjoyed a circuit of Aus in 2017 featuring some wonderful house sitting in 3 states and also as a camp ground host on a small property. Resulting in endorsements from all the home owners.

Our intention is to do some shorter trips in 2019 incorporating house sitting if possible as we loved the opportunity to meet some wonderful home owners, spend time with some lovely animals and get to know and explore local communities in much greater depth. Rest assured we will look after your home and pets as if they were our own and respect your privacy. We are new to this site but can provide references from home owners across Australia whose homes and animals we have cared for.

Previous reference."Roger and Janette were absolutely perfect! They really took care of our place and animals well and were great at communicating ie pictures of happy pets! They also went beyond what was expected and worked hard to clean up our pool and help organise a pool technician to come out. really grateful that we were able to go on a 2 week holiday with great comfort that our house and pets were in good hands... and hopefully they had a nice stay too!" Two very quiet mature non smoking, non party, women who love classical music. We have been house sitters over the years and locum managers for B&Bs, self catering cottages and small farms. We would now like to pet/house sit for others. as after lots of travelling during which we have had special people look after our beloved boy who sadly has gone where good pets go when it is their time for peace, we would now like to help others to enjoy their travels. References can be supplied, and our police check is up to date, we are on the committee for our hospital which includes the aged care residential home.
Do you need us? We would be very pleased to help you enjoy your adventures.

I'd be delighted to connect with you and chat about your house sit and look forward to hearing from you.

Also I am happy to look after your home as I would my own :)

  • Melbourne

I am a single, recent UNSW graduate. I am looking for alternative housing while I explore the various suburbs of Melbourne before I commit to buying a house of my own. I've just made the move to Melbourne after living in Jervis Bay where I was looking after my parents house and two amazing kitties during their time abroad. I have grown up with cats my whole life and have experience in giving medication, feeding, grooming etc. While I have never owned a dog, I love them just as much and would be open and willing for the experience.

I am booked for most of the remainder of the year however I am still available from the 17th of November to December 1st (approx.) and any time after 12th of January, 2020!

As I work full time from home, I will always be there for your pets. I am a responsible, clean and considerate person, and would love the opportunity to take care of your home and furry children.

Hello my name is Stephen and I am of mature age (approaching retirement). I am a very clean, tidy, hygienic and house proud person a non smoker and a social drinker. I have house/pet sit in Qld in Hervey Bay looking after Jackie a delightful female Shih Tzu . Georgina & Peter

  • Syd. Lower N Shore, Syd. Upper N Shore, Melb. Inner suburbs, Melb. SE suburbs, Bendigo, North Eastern, Ballarat, Otway Ranges/ Great Ocean Rd

Peter and I are a mature couple, both non-smokers with no children. We have looked after a number of homes and we're experienced in maintaining indoor plants, outdoor gardens, patios & pools, etc. We can look after chooks, cats and dogs who will be played with, walked and loved as you would yourselves.
We are semi-retired with a small Sydney-based business which we can run via our laptop computer & phone from anywhere.

We spend most of our time at home and love to cook healthy meals, listen to jazz and watch movies and go for walks, plus we present a 2-hour weekly radio show on a north shore community radio station but can take time off for 'out of Sydney' assignments as necessary.

Both in excellent health, we would be delighted to maintain your property (and pet/s) while you are away, ensuring you will have peace of mind as we are responsible, reliable, considerate, efficient and organised.
Although we're happy to look after one or two pets we'd prefer smaller or older rather than large or boisterous dogs as we aren't spring chickens any more.

We will consider short (1-2 week) sits, although would prefer longer periods and happy to travel to central coast, northern NSW, southern highlands, or interstate (Southern Qld or Melb for assignments).

Excellent professional/personal and previous house sit references are available on request.
We also have friends who house-sit (and love it), who are happy to give character references for us.

If you're looking for self-sufficient, friendly, capable and trustworthy house-sitters who will treat your home as our own (respectfully), and look after your fur babies. We'd love to meet or Skype-call to chat about your house-sitting requirements.

Note: we are past the 'party' age, so no parties or extra guests will invade your home while we are in situ.

Aidan & Nyamka

  • Melbourne

We are a young couple from Emerald (you know, in the Dandenongs, with the Puffing Billy). We own a cosy little house up here, but Nyamka works at RMIT in the CBD, and Aidan is getting his Masters degree at La Trobe University in Bundoora! Those are both very long commutes, so we like to house-sit closer to Melbourne whenever we can while we save up the deposit for a nice little apartment in the city.

Aidan grew up on a farm in rural Victoria, surrounded by animals - cats, dogs, fish, rabbits, ferrets, chickens, ducks, and more. He's also a keen gardener, and has a large collection of cacti. Nyamka runs the Melbourne Minimalist Meetup and has a side business as a professional declutterer, so as you'd expect her house is always perfectly tidy and spotlessly clean. Neither of us drink or smoke, and we both have a clean criminal record. We own a large station-wagon, perfect for taking your big dogs to the vet/groomer as necessary, or for dropping you off/picking you up at the airport!

We have house-sat plenty of times for friends and family members (references available upon request). We're joining this website to find more houses to sit, as our friends and family don't go away enough. We are responsible, reliable people, and we'd love to take care of your house and pets for you.

Hello. I am a mature man, 56, non smoker and have been housesitting now for 2 years.

Whilst trying to get back on my feet again I feel that this would be a great opportunity to help out others and see parts of Melbourne that I have never experienced.

I have had pets all my life, and would look after yours as if they were my own.

I have renovated and kept neat and tidy a house so I would treat your property and possessions with the respect they deserve.

I am available as soon as required and would be delighted to look after your pets and home for you.

Janet & Brendan

My partner Brendan and I live out in the country at Healesville, a beautiful place to live! We have done a lot of house sitting over the past s years and thoroughly enjoy the inner city living experience. We are both non smokers, animal lovers and into a bit of fitness . I am a consultant which means I am around most days. The reason we do house sitting is because Brendan works in the city and has spent the last 8 years commuting 5 days a week which takes an extra 3 hours out of his day on top of the 8-10 hours he works and he is a bit over all the travelling, so to be able to stay in the city is beneficial to both of us, but we are just not quite ready to give up our lovely country home yet so this is a great way to enjoy the best of both worlds!

I'm a 31 year old single gal with a passion for traveling the world and experiencing life in new places.
House sitting not only helps me fund my travels, but will provide me with the experience I need to secure house sits overseas while I'm traveling.

I am experienced in home pet sitting for dogs, cats and rabbits. In addition, I have cared for my friends and colleagues dogs while they have been away, doing twice-daily visits for feeds, play time and walks. One of the dogs I looked after needed daily eye drops for 2 weeks, and we got on just fine :)

I've always had pets throughout my life - dogs, birds, rabbits, fish - I have even lived with a pet rat (he was my housemate's, but he loved to cuddle in my scarf) and I cared for my housemate's cat on the 3+ days per week that he wasn't at home.

I work full-time Monday to Friday as a Medical Typist in the CBD, and in my spare time I enjoy exploring Melbourne, seeing live music, catching up with friends or just staying in and watching a good series on Netflix.

I'm available to sit for pets who are comfortable being left alone while I'm at work, but ready to be spoiled in the mornings and evenings, with extra play time on weekends.

Hi, Before you read my story with HH., which has been nothing but great...I'd like to mention as un update in Oct'19...I am booked in Melbourne until 29 Dec after which I'll doing a return pet-sit in Bondi, NSW until early Feb. I'd be happy to consider Feb - April pet-sits in Sydney or Melbourne so pls contact me with your dates, etc. Thank you.

What started in 2011 as a fun thing to do...staying in lovely homes with the company of dogs or cats during visits back to Melbourne.....has now become almost a full time adventure. I was spending many months each year in New York and returning to Melbourne for the Summer. Short term, decent accommodation is tricky so I decided to try Happy Housesitters. I love the company of animals so it seemed a win-win situation. It has certainly proved to be just that. After several years I now have a wonderful list of regular home/pet sits and return year after year, often 2-4 times during the year, to the same homes. Consequently I have made terrific friends, both 2 and 4 legged. Occasionally I have spare days and am more than happy to receive new requests and come and meet you and your pets for an intro chat. I have been able to do this as I have been self-employed for many years as an Interior Decorator and an Artist. I can work from 'home' on my laptop/iphone thereby keeping company with the pets I mind almost 24/7 apart from outside client appointments. I'm in my late 50's, non-smoker, travel light and I'm known for my genuine affection for animals and my cleanliness and respect around the home as my references will confirm. Please feel free to call me for a chat in lieu of my visiting you and your pets in person. References: There are many references on my H.H. profile and I can also provide phone numbers of referees if you wish. Thanking you, Kind Regards, Gwenda 0412 262 929

I'm a mature aged, non-smoking female who has chosen to housesit as an alternative to renting. I've been housesitting since September 2011 and I really enjoy the lifestyle. House-sitting is a great way to save money until I can afford a place of my own, plus I enjoy experiencing different places. I love animals (was raised on a dairy farm), and am experienced in dealing with all their cute little quirks (and messes!) and providing a load of pats and affection if required. However, having a pet is not a requirement for me to house-sit.
I keep the homes I house-sit for in good condition and am very respectful of the homes I care for.. Owners have been very happy with the condition I leave their homes, gardens and pets in and I've had many return house-sits and referrals as a result. Any tasks that need to be done in your absence - like mail collection and putting out the bins - are part and parcel of the house-sitting lifestyle and I'm happy to do them for you.
I work at home part time for a super company and I also do some writing so I spend much of my time working on my computer. The good news for you is I'll be around to keep your pets company and hold down the forte, so your pets will be well looked after and your home will be well attended. I enjoy my own company and peace and quite around the house. When I'm at home it's just me, so you can rest assured that there won't be a continual procession of visitors stampeding through your home. Of course, I can go on about how responsible, reliable and trustworthy I am....but why not get in contact with me so you can decide for yourself. I have great referrences and a police check...what more can you ask for in a sitter?

Chris & Alan

We are a married, retired couple with family living interstate, so we like to visit them, especially to get away from Adelaide's cold winters. We love the country, and are happy to mind animals. We are non-smokers, and live clean & quiet lives and would leave your house clean and tidy when we left it. We have police clearances as we have been doing voluntary work in aged care & also with children.

House Sitting in 2018 – introducing Ross and Margaret Belbin.
Dear Homeowners
Margaret has been retired for four years while I am semi-retired teacher. Margaret retired from her career with the ANZ bank in November 2013 while I am a retired primary school principal and now teach part time lecturing at the University of Tasmania (teacher education). We have lived in Devonport, Tasmania for 27 years. We are both 62, are non-smokers and have an interest in physical fitness.
While we are on the mainland, friends will house sit our home.
We are mindful that we will be looking after someone else’s home and pet (s) and will treat both with the utmost care and respect.
Over the last three years we have spent 4 months (each year) house sitting in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. We house sat in Italy last July. We have attached references from some of these sits to this letter of introduction (just keep scrolling down).
Please consider our application to house sit for you.

Yours sincerely,

Ross and Margaret Belbin

To whom it may concern,
Ross and his wife, Margaret, looked after our house, 2 dogs, 1 cat and budgie for 3 weeks in October 2017 (their second visit here).
They cared for our house and pets in a very professional manner.
We returned from our trip to find our house and pets safe, clean and happy.
I would strongly recommend them as a couple to look after one’s house and pets.

Margaret and Ross were recommended to us by a couple who have house sat for us in the past, but were unavailable. We were delighted that they could assist us and they stayed in our home in Melbourne between 23 December 2015 and 2 January 2016.
Margaret and Ross are now well-loved by our aging terriers (there is nothing automatic about winning the hearts of a West Highland White, and a half-Westie, half-Scottie). They also left our house in immaculate condition, and insisted on replacing anything they used, although this was not necessary.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to check this reference. Our email is lothianpm@gmail.com, Marg's mobile is 0411 496 160 and Peter's is 0403 577 545.

We were lucky enough to have Ross and Margaret Belbin as our first experience of house sitters. Frankly, they were wonderful. From initial contact, through a comprehensive handover and on to coming back to a spotless home the whole experience was smooth, painless and trouble free.
Our two small dogs mean the world to us and Ross and Margaret did such a wonderful job of ensuring that they were kept in a familiar routine and, most importantly, given lots of affection. We can unreservedly recommend Ross and Margaret, and are happy to respond to email reference requests.

"Ross and Margaret house-sat for us for a week over Easter break so we could go on our honeymoon. They are wonderful people, and took great care of our home and our two dogs (Labrador and Golden Retriever). When we returned, the house was cleaner than when we had left it, and Ross had even mowed our lawn! The dogs were healthy and happy; you could tell they had been receiving regular exercise. Anyone who is looking for someone to house- or pet-sit for them would be lucky to have Ross and Margaret. We thoroughly recommend them!"

  • Brisbane

I'm a non-smoker, mature, single, quiet and responsible.
Because I'll be working and may not get home until after dusk, I would not have time to walk a dog. I love cats and they seem to like my company too. My very spoilt elderly cat had to be put down over 2 years ago due to a neurological disease and I miss her dreadfully. I know lots about caring for cats, and happy to take instructions to care for rabbits, guinea pigs, fish and birds.
I'm low maintenance. I need to be able to wash and iron clothes, have public transport close by and somewhere safe to park my car. Shops are not a priority.
I have a current police check and great references from past pet-sitting assignments.

Hi, I would love to come and look after your lovely home and much loved pets! I have had many dogs in the past and they have all lived to a great age and I miss them dearly. I am a single, mature aged lady not working at the moment so have plenty of time to take your dogs for long walks, play and take great care of your home. I am a healthy non smoker. At present I don't have had a police check done, but this isn't a problem as I am happy to do so if required.

Welcome to our profile!
We’re Birgitta and Ed - a retired energetic pet loving couple.

Are you anxious to ensure your house is kept secure and garden well cared for?
Do you want genuine animal lovers to look after your pets while you're away?
Would you like the peace of mind that comes with mature, responsible house sitters?
Do you want regular updates and pictures of your pets?
Would you like house sitters who are committed to following your instructions?

If you answered ‘yes’ to these questions, you’ve found the right house sitters. It’s what we look for when we have folks house-sitting for us.

We are a clean, friendly, non-smoking, retired professional but energetic and down-to-earth couple. We love all kinds of animals and consider it a privilege to care for your home, pets and garden as we would our own.

We’re from the UK but spend much of our time in Australia since we retired as our only daughter lives on the Sunshine Coast. Having owned dogs, cats, hamsters and others, we miss having pets of our own and really enjoy looking after them. However we decided it would be unfair to have more when we started travelling so much after retirement.

What does that mean for you? You get sitters with the time, experience and flexibility to keep your home securely occupied, cuddle, feed and walk your pets during the day and give you the peace of mind you need to enjoy your time away. We have verified IDs and can provide excellent references.

We’re happy to care for your pot plants, gardens, pool and lawns according to your instructions. Ed is familiar with all kinds of garden machinery and equipment, loves working with tools and does everything from pool maintenance to wood chopping. Birgitta likes keeping the house tidy and clean and we enjoy gardening together. We also have our own car so don’t mind remote locations.

Whether it's your pets that need caring for, your lawns need mowing, your pool needs maintaining or your garden needs watering, we'd love to help out. Message us for our phone number - you can also initially meet us on Skype or FaceTime and in person if we look like your kind of house sitters.

I'm Den, a 35 year old Sydney born/raised non-smoking single male known for my sincerity and compassion, along with being open-minded, accepting and flexible. I speak English, Portuguese, Spanish and French. I work as both a Remedial Massage Therapist (which fur children/animals seem to take advantage of) and Casual/Substitute High School Teacher and was previously a Disability Support Worker. I enjoy walking and exploring new and different places.
If it means anything, I am (according to the Myers-Briggs personality types) an ENFP, making me what is sometimes known as an introverted extrovert (an extrovert with a strong introverted side).

An animal lover, I'm currently housesitting two domestic cats (one shorthair, one medium/longhair) in South-Eastern Sydney.Previous Sydney housesits include...
* Eastern Suburbs: a Schnoodle puppy
* Hills District: two dogs (a Schnoodle and a senior German Shepherd/Kelpie) and four Domestic Shorthair cats
* Inner-City: two small dogs (a Kelpie cross and a Chihuahua cross) and a Bengal cat; two Domestic Shorthair cats
* Inner West: two dogs (a mutt and a Spoodle), two cats (a Burmese kitten and a Siamese) and two guinea pigs; a Domestic Shorthair cat; a senior Italian Greyhound
* Lower North Shore: two kittens (a Tortoiseshell Tabby and a Ragdoll/Moggy)
* Parramatta Area: two large senior dogs (a Husky and a Cattle cross)
* St George Area: a senior Bitzer/Staffy dog and thirteen birds (seven Cockatiels and six Rainbow Lorikeets); a Japanese Spitz
* South-Eastern Sydney: a senior Border Collie and a Domestic Shorthair cat; two Birman cats
* Upper North Shore: two large dogs (a Border Collie/Labrador/Beagle and a Border Collie/Springer Spaniel pup) and a Domestic Shorthair cat; a senior Chinchilla cat; a senior Jack Russell/Kelpie

Having rented with housemates over the years, I like keeping my space peaceful and tidy. Being a Remedial Massage Therapist and Casual Teacher, I am more flexible than the conventional 9-5 Mon-Fri worker. Unlike some house sitters, when I commit to a house sit, I commit - unless unforeseen circumstances force me to cancel, I will not be dropping a house sit (and never have, thus far) and have knocked back house sits which worked better for me out of respect for those I have committed to.
I will need parking (even if simply a driveway or street) for my car as part of any house sit.

Along with several referees, I have National Police History and NSW Working With Children checks which are available on request.

Originally from the UK I have lived in Australia for the last 15 years. I am a retired widow in my late 70's but fortunately fit and healthy. I currently do not have any pets of my own but frequently take care of my daughters' cats and dogs including 4 Boxers and 2 Bulldogs. Whilst my children were growing up we always had animals around the house and they were all dearly loved. Because of my love of animals I have been a vegetarian since my teenage years. I have always owned a house of my own and still do, although my house in Aveley is now rented out to a lovely family. I would love to take care of your home and pets and can assure you that I would care of them as though they were my own. Thank you.... Sylvia

Hello my name is Victoria, I am a Semi Retired 54 year old lady. I live in a Unit in Mosman and miss my home
that I lived in at Seaforth. All my darling pets are now in cat and dog heaven and we are not allowed pets in the unit where I live.

I have had a lot of experience in house sitting, lovely homes in Longueville, Seaforth, Mosman, Bellevue Hill, Rose Bay,
Point Piper and Kingsford. I am an extremely houseproud person, and keep an excellent household. I am a non smoker
and non drinker. Ex marathon runner, now a bushwalker/ medium runner.

I am fortunate that most animals like me and I feel the same about them. People have said " wow, minksie never comes to strangers and does that ? " I think I must have been a cat and a dog in past lives.

I am happy to give you any references upon request.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Hi there :)

These are Robert and Martina, a young couple who moved from Italy to Australia a few years ago and who has now been settled in the lovely Perth for 3 years after living, working and studying in Melbourne for 6 years. Robert is full-time Mechanical Engineer who loves sports, movies and food. Martina is a Primary School Teacher who has been working as a Barista for the last few years. She is into music, sports and outdoors.

We have both had lots of different pets through the years both in Italy and in Australia and we can assure you we will love them as our own, so you don't have to worry while you are away.

We also own ourselves a property here in Perth, which we have given out for rent a few months ago, so we know how hard it can be to leave your home sweet home in someone else's hands. Being born and raised in Italy means that we have and keep high standards for personal cleaning and house duties and we can assure you that we will take care of your house as if it was our own and you will find it in an amazing condition upon your return.

We are both almost 30 years old so we are well past the age and time of partying, but we rather enjoy a romantic dinner at home and long walks along the coast or in different parks around Perth.

We have two cars and everything else that we may need so we are ready to go.

If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask and we will happily answer all of them :)

Talk soon,
Robert and Martina
