Apparently, the alternative to wallowing in a Mid Life Crisis is to take a Mid Life Leap instead... Almost 2 years ago, I left Sydney to travel for 9 months in the US, Europe and Malaysia, living in London for half of this time. I've been back in Sydney for 1 year and am looking forward to what 2019 will bring...
During the last 2 years, I completed 6 sits in the US, 13 in London, 1 in Malaysia while travelling, and 20+ in Sydney (with 25% of these being repeat bookings), sitting full-time while my flat is rented out for another 2 years. I'm already booked for most of 2019 with repeat bookings and referrals.
I've looked after kittens to elderly dogs, administering pills and eye drops, and feeding dry, wet or raw food. I've won over shy cats and nervous dogs, and the largest pet I've looked after was a 45kg Newfoundland dog. I've looked after up to 3 animals at a time, with various combinations of cats and dogs, including 3 dogs.
I'm a responsible and thoughtful non-smoker who keeps things cleans and tidy, and would leave your home just as I found it. Since I was 21, I've travelled through North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and I know what it's like to be away from your pet and home.
I moved to Sydney, Australia from England 13 years ago, living in Rozelle and then Surry Hills. I've worked as a recruiter for 16 years and do freelance work from home as a cv writer and recruiter, so will be in for most of each day to walk your dog, cuddle your cat/dog and curl up for afternoon naps.
My philosophy with animals is to let them come to you on their terms, when they're ready and once you've earned their trust rather than trying to force a friendship. Dogs are relatively easy - if you feed and walk them, chances are you'll have found a friend, but cats are more independent and it's on their terms - you often have to work harder to win them over!
Hello there! My name is Samantha, but people call me Sam. I am 46 years old, single and have no kids. I am a hard worker and enjoy the simple things in life. I love to travel, read, watch films and TV. I also enjoy getting out into the fresh air and especially like going for walks along the beach in St Kilda or Elwood.
I'm well known amongst friends and family to be an organised, clean, neat person who can be relied upon and who has integrity, honesty a genuine friendly down to earth nature.
I have recently completed a certificate in Travel and Tourism and am looking for work in this area. Having made this bold move to change careers and return to study has meant I am seeking alternatives to pay my mortgage and therefore have decided to rent out my place and do some house sitting.
Obviously, I value my home and will treat your home with respect and care while staying there, as I do mine! I am a homebody and value a relaxed serene oasis to live in therefore will treat your home as such.
I have had experience with housesitting although it was back when I was younger. But generally speaking my friends and family often ask me to feed their pets when they go away. This is a regular occurrence.
This year back in June I also lost my cat, she went missing and still remains missing. So in a sense this has also triggered me to make this move and do some petsitting/housesitting. I believe it will assist me with going through the change of not having her around anymore, and also I would love to have the experience of caring for a pet again. However, I like the idea of something temporary at the moment, and this seems to fit the bill and serve many purposes!
Although, I imagine they would be rare, I am also fine and happy to house sit a place with no pets.
I can provide references on request.
We live in Slovenia, Europe where we own a house on a hill overlooking our orchard and grapevines. We love to be outside in nature, be it in the mountains or near the sea. In 2016 we moved from Australia to Slovenia, where we lived and worked in our younger years, to retire. Now very often we go back to Oz and NZ to be close to our kids. We have owned homes all our lives and we understand the care and attention that it takes to maintain a home. In retirement, we love traveling around the world and being active and fit. Our daughters still live in Australia , NZ and Slovenia so we would be very interested in house-sitting in Australia and New Zealand and Europe. We enjoy gardening and have maintained many gardens over the years. If you have a garden We would love to take care of it. We have been loving dog-owners our whole lives and enjoy caring for and being around all kinds of animals.
Why we want to house sit
We would love to house sit to see many different places and cultures, languages, people. We believe that house-sitting provides a unique opportunity to get to know a new places and new people and culture from the perspective of a local.
What we bring to the assignment / relevant experience
We have owned homes in Europe, Australia and New Zealand. While we have no formal experience house-sitting, ( we set for our daughter Branka), we know how to care for and maintain a home. We would work with home-owners to create a plan for how they want their home maintained and their pets cared for in their absence.

Branka and Tom have on numerous occasions taken care of both my home and my dogs. Over the period of a few years they house-sat for myself and my husband on 3-4 occasions for time periods spanning anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. They are exceedingly tidy (in fact, our house was always tidier upon our return than we had left it) and responsible. They absolutely adored our two dogs, a boisterous 2-yr old kelpie and an elderly terrier, both of whom require very different care, attention and exercise (the kelpie needs regular exercise in order to address his high energy and our older dog needs regular short walks, regular grooming and occasional medication). We felt completely comfortable with Branka and Tom who took care of our home and pets as if they were their own. Would recommend any time!

Branka and Toma were my first house and petsitting experience and I couldn't have chosen a better sitter.
As they live quite close, they came to visit me two weeks before the first sitting. They are both extremely friendly and considerate. It was very nice to get some photos of my dog while I was away and I came home to a very happy dog and extremely clean house. It was so good to know that somebody is taking such good care of my house and the dog while I was away. I felt as if a grandma from a fairytale was coming. I would highly recommend Branka and Tomo as sitters - I would definitely be very happy if they come again.

Branka was terrific! She cared for our home and dog, Tia, with such care - better than I could have ever hoped for. I would love to have her back (with Tom) if she were available when we next have to go away. Highly recommended!

Branka and her husband did a very good job looking after our house and garden. We communicated briefly a few times via email and whats app and i felt completely assured that she had everything under control. We came home to a very clean and tidy house, happy plants as well as some food so that we didn't need to shop immediately. Unable to comment about pet care as we don't have one. Highly recommended.

THEIR ENDORSEMENT OF YOU:
Branka and Tom excel when it comes to housesitting. Our house was very well tended and our animals were very happy. Branka checked in with us when she had a question about the animals and the house seemed to sparkle even more than how we left it for them. We'd definitely use Branka and Tom again and highly recommend them to others. Thank you Branka and Tom.

Branka and her husband looked after our much loved cat for a week while we were on a family holiday. They kept us informed about Our cats whereabouts and that made me feel at ease that everything is going well back home. When I got back the house was left immaculate plus they left us a fresh bread and milk, so very thoughtful of them????
I would highly recommend these amazing couple! I was super lucky to have them looking after Our cat. Thanks again! Xxx

If you are looking for experienced, responsible sitters it would be great to hear from you.
We are a retired Canadian couple and our daughter lives in Manly. For the last seven, we have spent most of your summer in the Sydney area. Part of our visits have included house and pet sitting.
We are currently renovating a cottage in rural Ontario, Canada. Our passion has been to build or renovate our homes. One of these homes was a farm with a small flock of sheep and various other livestock and pets.
Suzanne is a retired registered nurse and Larry a retired firefighter. Our activities include yoga, hiking, cooking and travel. We are responsible, active folks who would care for your home and pet(s) as if they were our own.
We are non-smokers and will provide additional references if requested.

I am a mature, considerate woman who feels that people's 'homes' in very many ways reveal who they really are. I am house proud and clean and while I am staying in your home I treat it with the respect and consideration
that it deserves.
I have looked after numerous homes in the past few decades, some of my house/pet sits lasting for 6 months or more.
I am an animal lover and have experience with dogs, cats, fish, birds, sheep and horses. I also tend to the watering of pot plants and gardens be they inside or out.
I have excellent references; among them a previous long term landlord and another a homeowner whose large house and pets I cared for on more than one occasion. Any or all of my references can be forwarded. Some of them also provide phone numbers if further verification is required.
I have a current police check and I do not smoke, nor am I a party goer. I spend much of my spare time walking or writing.
I also work online teaching English and therefore am able to spend plenty of time at home.
Please email me if you feel I might be the right person to take care of your loved home, pets and
plants while you are away.
We are a 27 and 30 year old non-smoking clean couple who love animals and will look after your home as if it were our own, We are reliable, trustworthy, experienced, friendly and responsible.
Who we are:
Hi I’m Isabelle and I have lived in Melbourne my whole life. Kjol is my partner and he is from Anchorage Alaska. We would love to look after your home!
Kjol and I met 4 years ago when my friend and I were doing a road trip around the US. We now live in Melbourne at my family home while we wait for our partner visa to be approved. I work full time as a project support officer and as Kjol isn't able to work he is completing his studies online. This is particular great for those pets that need extra company throughout the day as Kjol is home during the day.
We are both reliable, responsible, friendly and love animals. We have both grown up with a variety of pets, I have had dogs and chickens, and Kjol has grown up with cats, dogs and lizards. We both love the outdoors particularly going for walks on the beach or in parks. We can also be home bodies and love watching shows together, reading and Kjol is a great artist so loves drawing.
Having grown up with a big backyard and a very enthusiastic gardener for a mum, her green thumb has definitely rubbed off on me and I love looking after gardens.
Why we want to house sit:
We have both house sat before and absolutely love it! One of the main reasons we want to house sit is our love of animals and the importance of a good house sitter to our loved ones! We have had a personal experience with this and how important a caring house sitter is to our pets and their health. When Kjol’s family was going to Costa Rica for a semester their house sitter fell through. Their new one was allergic to cats and didn’t tell the family and instead locked the kitten in a room for most of the time. Poor Kaos has never been the same again! I treat all animals as if they were mine and this comes from my love of animals. I love cuddling animals particularly when they are up for it and I find fur babies definitely make it less lonely.
We are also at a stage in our lives were in the next few years we would like to buy our own home. House sitting has given me the opportunity to live in different types of homes and areas to see what is important to us in a home.
So please feel free to get in touch. Kjol and I would love to look after your home. We can provide a police check and references on request and would be more than happy to meet you before we house sit. Hope to hear from you soon.
Isabelle and Kjol
Helpful Happy House Sitters
We understand that leaving your home and animals in the care of house sitters for extended periods can be very stressful, but we can assure you that your home and extended family will be treated with kind and loving hands.
We are a middle aged couple whom sold our restaurant business and are now travelling this wonderful country of ours, and would like to offer our services to house sit your home while you do whatever your need or want to do elsewhere.
We travel with a budgie, but we used to have other pets before leaving Brisbane over a year ago and they are sadly missed.
Bobbie owned and operated a small animal refuge in the USA before coming to Australia and we would welcome looking after your own beloved pets if you so need.
We also have farm sitting experience, care of horses, chooks, galahs, geese i.e. farm animals.
Also, Bobbie has been a house cleaner both in the USA and in Australia. She worked for a well known Dr and his family in Brisbane over 4+ years.
We are clean and respectful and would treat your home the same as we would our own, treating your home as a home should be treated.
We will do any house cleaning or garden duties required while you are gone, if you wish, to maintain a nice clean home, ready for your return.
We are on no real time limit, being without any real commitments to any place at this time.

Hello! I always loved animals, but never had the chance to have my own. Always absolutely love when I'm staying at friend's homes where they have pets. Recently I worked at The Dog Lovers Show in Melbourne, and it was one of the most rewarding experience, to be able to enjoy the whole weekend surrounded by dogs and all their happy owners. I've never felt so much love in one place. Even after my shifts finished, I didn't want to leave. The best energy ever. Animals really do make people happier, they are just beautiful and make us smile for no reason.A little bit more about me, I'm a writer, filmmaker, blogger, editor, and manage most of my creative work working online, which gives me the flexibility to work from home from everywhere, which makes easy to adapt into helping someone by taking care of their pets!I'm just moving from Sydney to Melbourne, something that I've been wanting to do for very long time, but something always get on the way, then now one of my best friends suggested that I should make the most of my caring nature and start house sitting.A little bit more about my lifestyle and values, I'm a very caring person, and always strive to do my very best in everything I do. I'm trustworthy and reliable, and whenever I commit with something I'm there, you can absolutely rely on me.I'm also very clean, I love everything very nice tidy and clean, so you can be certain that I will take good care of your home with great respect.Funny facts about me, I'm not scared of snakes nor any reptiles, I adore them, whenever I see a lizard in a park, I gently go after them to say hello and admire the way they move, I find them super cute. In the other hand, if I see a big spider is heart attack lolI remember friends knowing of my fear of spiders warning me about big lizards on the back yard thinking I would be terrified, but I was like, oh yes I saw them and was playing around with them, my friends looked puzzled lolMore interesting facts, I don't smoke, I'm not a big party person either, most of my going out involves going to film festivals and film related events. I'm a very creative person and love to write, including writing new scripts, writing blogs, writing books, managing online projects, etc. Also, love watching movies, just love everything about movies! I also manage an independent film event which takes place in October in Sydney, so my schedule is very flexible, as long as I'm in Sydney in October to welcome everybody from all around the world! I have police check and references available.Feel free to ask more questions. My life is very public and I have worked with very high profile artists from all around the world. I'm also happy to send you links of many places where you can find out a little bit more about me, so you can travel in peace knowing that your pets and home are well taken care by someone who will take care with them with love, because I just love doing good things in life. Looking forward to hearing from you!
Hello my name's Blair and I'm 29.
I was working as a Sales Consultant but have many years experience as a domestic cleaner and I am a perfectionist so at least you know I'll be very clean for you ;)
Im currently working from home casually doing Administration and Data Entry.
I love animals and have studied dog behaviourism and obedience. I also help out the Lost Dogs Home combined with RSPCA and all of the Melbourne Region's Pounds with trying to reunite missing pets with their owners.
I cant afford to rent by myself so love doing this and I miss my old neighborhood so much.
I'm comfortable with all animals, cleaning, gardening and other needs. I have house sat and looked after animals before. I am happy to chat or meet if you have any queries. I can bring RSPCA cat care guide pamphlets.
I have a short video of my dog Jimmy and his training in action. Also one of me getting kisses from a ferret. Not overly interesting, but the link is
I am an independent, reliable, animal loving, professional woman (33), currently house sitting in Adelaide. I like to go to the beach and relax on the weekends. I play sport, I like to keep fit and active, I love coffee and I like to live a healthy lifestyle. I am hoping to gain long term house sits in Adelaide in 2019 to save for an overseas trip. I have had many house sits across Sydney and Adelaide and I offer an invaluable service of taking care and spending quality time with your pets whilst maintaining a clean and tidy home and garden. I’d love to meet up and chat with you over coffee. Police clearance and house sitting references on the site. Can also provide referees contact details for you to speak with them if you need. Thanks, Tara. 0413 466 544
My partner and I are available for pet and house-sitting. We are a same-sex couple, have left corporate careers, are self-employed, work online and are usually home during the day. We both love animals and have had pets (cats, dogs and chickens). I love sketching and gardening, and am used to maintaining a large garden (watering, weeding, setting up beds, growing trees, flowers and vegetables); my partner is house-proud and a tiny bit obsessed about keeping things clean and neat. Non-smokers, discreet (we won't share photo of your pets or house on social media), and respectful of your privacy. References are available from our profile.
Rachelle and I (Andy) are a professional and responsible couple in our 30's and we will be moving into our own home in late July. Until then we are available and willing to house sit and pet mind.
We both work full time in government positions and love animals.
We will give each house a professional clean at the end of a sit.
I am a 25 year old, part-time university student in Burwood (with very few contact hours) and I work casually in South Melbourne.
I have spent the last four years living in Southbank. My current lease is coming to an end, and I have decided that instead of renewing, I would like to experience living in different suburbs and be able to save to eventually purchase my own abode. As I have not been able to own a pet while renting, and my mother has my baby in Bendigo (Jiji - pictured); the appeal of house sitting and
cuddling furbabies suits the needs of my life for the next year or so.
I am a member and have an voluntary administration role with the Southbank Sustainability Group. Here I have received hands on experience with maintaining gardens, composting and worm farms. As well as actively being part of the local community.
I grew up in country Victoria, and have spent my entire childhood surrounded by animals. Consistently cats and dogs but the odd rabbit, turtle and mouse have also made their way into our lives.
I am non-smoking and practice minimal, low-waste living, am very clean and can maintain a high standard in any place. I understand the common decency of respecting someone elses' home. Having sublet my own space when travelling, I am very empathetic to this.
My usual day involves a predawn gym class, work or study during the day, and a quite evening of downtime. My schedule can be flexible to fit around the needs of your pet. If you have an independent cat, I might request more work shifts for during the day. If you have an energy filled or anxious dog, I would prioritise study days and admin work from home. Either way, all mornings and evenings would be filled with compulsory cuddles, walks and company.
I am yet to do a housesit in Australia, but can provide work, community, rental or personal character references on request. I am in the process of getting a police check.
I am awaiting confirmation on dates to housesit for friends and neighbours, but will be available for both short term and extended sits. I do not have a car, so I am looking for sits that would take no more than 40minutes by public transport to get to Southern Cross.
At this point I am probably more suited to cats and small-medium dogs; and of course gardens. If you have any questions, please get in touch. I am looking forward to smoothering your furbabies with love.
**UPDATE Available from April 27 **
Born and raised in Sydney-town, I pet/house sit full-time here, for free, as a lifestyle and have been doing since July 2018, and part-time before that.
I love the animals, plants and houses, the adventure, the savings. and providing a valuable service while you're away, in exchange for staying in your home.
I have references here on Happy Housesitters, plus many others from different house sitting sites that I can send you and whom can be contacted. My national Police clearance is also available.
Having been a homeowner and had pet and house sitters myself, I know that you want your pets as happy and healthy, and your home as clean and tidy, when you return as when you left.
I am good at following instructions on the care of your animals and your home. I am there to look after them for you. And I draw on my experience from owning and sitting cats, dogs, birds, guinea pigs, fish, snails (really!) and chickens.
Mature, responsible and reliable, I am a frugal user of electricity, gas and water, clean and tidy, a quiet neighbour, fit and healthy, and a non-smoker. I have a Masters degree and work in the NSW public service.
I also speak Spanish if your animals prefer and like to send you updates, including photos and videos, while you are away.
Any length of stay close, or quickly accessible, to Bondi Jt and the Sydney CBD can work if I am available.
My Instagram account is @housesitsydney if you want to get more of an idea of what I do and how much I care =^. .^= =^_ _^=
Send me a message through the site and/or call or text me directly on 0421-831-910.
Hi! I'm Sue, I would love to take care of your home, and your pets ('fur children' and other creatures!) if our needs align.
I'm 49, work as a Manager of volunteers in the Not for Profit sector in Melbourne, and I'm house sitting for adventure and financial reasons. My partner accompanies me on most sits. We are very EXPERIENCED house and pet sitters. We LOVE animals and would very much enjoy getting a 'fur fix' through loving and caring for your pets :-) We're very experienced with cats, also have some dog, fish and basic farm animal experience.
I have worked at RSPCA Victoria and have thorough knowledge of animal welfare, quality animal care, and believe animals deserve a safe and loving home and life.
Your home and pets would be in the hands of a person/couple who are TRUSTWORTHY, RELIABLE, TIDY, RESPECTFUL AND CAPABLE. We use checklists to establish clear understandings of your needs to ensure top quality care for your home and pets, and a comfortable and house sit for us. Age and experience have equipped us with capability to deal with life's challenges as they arise, with calmness and level heads.
- We don't undertake house sits without first meeting with home owner(s) and pets
- We prefer house sits convenient to public transport allowing for an easy commute to the city for work
- We have references from our house-sitting experiences, and can provide police checks if required
Thanks for your time to read this. If our requirements match, I look forward to being in touch.
Hello pet owners!
Sean and I have been together for over 4 years and are a happy and active couple. We have always loved animals and enjoyed taking care of them.
I adopted my first cat Netscape from the streets when I was 12 and not too long after adopted 3 more cats also from the streets. My whole life I was surrounded by 4 amazing little critters that I would show all of my attention to. I also have experience with birds because I had them in my summer home in Poland.
Sean has grown up with dogs his whole life. He loves the outdoors and enjoys taking his dogs for walks along the local area.
The both of us have lived together for a year and then quickly decided that we both miss the company of animals and that is why we have become pet sitters. We started off pet sitting for almost a year in Perth. Soon after we drove to Sydney where we were pet sitters for 10 months. After that we moved to Melbourne and looked after cats for 5 months. We are now currently pet sitting again in Sydney.
Our experience has been amazing all over Australia. We keep in touch with the families and their pets and we plan on pet sitting and staying together for many years to come!
Please let us know if you would like to hear more about us and our experiences. We are also able to provide various references from families.
Gosia & Sean

We would take care of your home and pets, as we would our own, and keep them safe and happy until you return. Why we want to house sitHouse and pet sitting is appealing because of the built in adventure and novelty of such diverse opportunities. We have enjoyed much travel in Australia and overseas, ship, caravan, camping, coast, desert and bush, but would look forward to the interest of connecting with the everyday life in new communities. Many sits give insight to the places less travelled, rather than big tourism locations, and Mike is a keen historian where ever we are.0ur creatures are an essential part of life, but the extra additions to the 'family', "step grand-dogs,cats..and one day hopefully, alpacas!!'', will have all the love and care we can give in the allocated time! What we bring to the assignment / relevant experienceWe have lived in city and country, in town houses and on acreages, and had donkeys, dogs, cats, chooks, and sheep! Our experience in education, country and city communities, gardening, house repairs, and dealing with the emergencies of life, makes us useful Sitters! Having a good sense of humor helps too.We have police checks, and house sitting references. We currently have an old beagle/terrier x, Maggie May, a dear rescue dog, who, as we speak, is snuffling her way through seaweed and beach sand! We love our entertaining chooks, and their produce! Harry the Cat sadly left us after 12 years of slothful existence! Do contact us if your place and pets seem like a good match!
I am a 53 year old primary school teacher with adult children. I'm looking to reallocate to the Parkdale, Beaumaris, Black Rock Sandringham areas and want to experience living in the area before buying. At the moment I don't have any ties, so could commit swiftly to an executive or someone who travels frequently for work.
I am registered to teach in Victoria which means I have under one gone a current criminal records check. I am a non smoker who leads a physically active life. I take pride in my surroundings and will leave the property in a very tidy, presentable way. References available on request.
