HelloMy husband and I are a retired English couple whose son is now living in Melbourne Victoria. We want to explore Australia with a view of emmigrating to Australia and we see house sitting as a way in which we could do this. Looking after someones house and or pets would help us get a real feel of the area. We have experience in looking after dogs and cats having had our own and looked after family members pets when they go on holidays. We are in our late 50's early 60's and are fit. We love walking and are houseproud, so would look after your home. My husband is very practical, a handyman around the house able to solve most maintainance issues. We could supply references if required however, communication between us, potential sitters and house owners will put both our minds at rest..We will be available from November 2017 until July 2018.We would be very interested in a housesit over the Xmas New Year that would be open to us inviting some of our family to stay over. We would be very responsible and respectful of your property and pets at this time.Roger and PhyllisI have attached below a character reference from my colleague at my place of work for 23 years. To whom it may concern.I have known Phyllis Austin in excess of 23 years both as a work colleague and as a friend. She was employed by Tesco Stores Limited in various managerial roles including Customer Service Manager responsible for the well being and training of over 120 staff, before ending up as a Compliance Manager in Newton Abbot store,This role involved ensuring that the store remained safe and legal at all times. This meant liaising with the rest of the management team from Store Manager down to make sure that they completed all of their legal training such as Health and Safety, Fire and Pest Control.During my time working with Phyllis she was always diligent and thorough and had a way of ensuring that everything was completed to tight timescales through her manner, encouraging others to do their best, and coaching/training whenever necessary. Part of her duties included being in charge of the store as a duty manager, and this task she completed with ease.I would have no hesitation in recommending her for any role that she applied for as I know that her integrity and honesty are second to none.If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.Paul FosterCustomer Experience ManagerNewton Abbot 2920This is a confidential email. We are a responsible, trustworthy, non-smoking freelance/semi-retired couple with plenty of common sense, responsibility and reliability. We are German born with Australian Permanent Residency/European Citizenship. We both have/had responsible positions in our careers. Reiner enjoyed a managing position for over 15 years at a renowned Public Health Insurance in Duisburg and I was the Managing Director of an Interior Design Company and the owner of a reputable and successful Home and Giftware store with several employees in Sydney. We are currently enjoying some time-out and are possessed by the traveling bug and welcome this alternate lifestyle of housesitting around the world. As we have more time for ourselves and do the things we truly enjoy, we also have the flexibility to travel with or without our caravan (in Europe) and also do the things we really love doing, like walking, riding bicycles, yoga, meditation reading, cooking, crafting, listening to music...We aim to take a professional approach to housesitting and would like to undertake a variety of housesit assignments around the world. We have many years of travel experience and are easily and quickly comfortable elsewhere. We would feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to housesit in different countries and experience their history and culture and learning a new language is always great fun. Housesitting enables us to experience diverse areas and cultures and getting to know the community we live in.We have both been brought up surrounded by pets and they played a huge part of our life and they have been treated like family members. Our travelling lifestyle precludes us from having our own pets so we particularly love to spoil your beautiful two or four legged family members that we have entrusted to our care. As we are new to the housesitting community we would very much welcome the opportunity for us to sit. We are an open minded couple and our time traveling throughout Europe with our Caravan has been introducing us to our nomadic life style. Although we are new to the concept of ‘house-sitting’ we regularly find ourselves taking care of the pets of our camping neighbours and spoiling their dogs and cats with cuddles or walk or sit them.We feel that housesitting is home away from home. We look after everything as we would if the house was our own. We both own properties and have a good common sense of how and what to be taken care of. We have renovated our own properties and landscaped our gardens so we can put our hands to most things should the need arise in an emergency. We know that it may be worrying for you to leave your pets and home; we are very conscious of this and we will make sure that we communicate regularly by email or to reassure you that all is well. We recognize the importance of selecting the right house-sitters to look after your home, pets and garden. We are genuine animal lovers and having pets to look after is a pleasure for us. We are also house proud and we will keep your house and garden looking clean and tidy and maintained in good condition for your return. We can provide police check and any other information you may wish to know upon request. Happy to Skype also as introduction and a way to get to know us more upfront.Do contact us as we are always happy to discuss your individual house-sitting needs. Kind regards,Christina & Reiner
Hi there-PREFERRED SITS ARE MELBOURNE! BUT I DON'T MIND THE ODD HOLIDAY SOMEWHERE LOVELY TOO!!!! We also had cats for over 35 years! We have, of course got references and a police check. Currently we are available for the following period:Mid-Dec 2017 to mid-Jan 2018 (4/5 weeks) when we will be extending an already planned Oct/Nov visit to our daughter who lives in Sydney. Hello My husband and I are a married retired couple that have had a lot of experience housesitting in Canberra and would look after your home as we look after our own and believe that it is very important to leave someones home clean and tidy as we found it. We both love animals and have a dog and cat of our own.If possible we would bring a little tiny Foxy with us if possible if that is a problem We are both non smokers. The reason we wish to housesit in Canberra is that my mother is living in Canberra in a Nursing Home at Weston and we would like to spend more time with her as she is getting elderly. We are available to housesit from early December
Someone you can absolutely count on! Hello, I am Clare, 62, retired ABC radio broadcaster and experienced house/pet-sitter of many years (see references for details). Although I have cared for a delightful variety of animals in the past, I now prefer to love and care for cats, in homes that are well cared for by their owners.Undertaking French Language studies externally allows me the freedom to move about and explore new places and communities, whilst still allowing plenty of time to give proper care and attention to your home and pet(s).I lead a simple life - studying, walking, swimming, gardening and seeking to maintain good health in aesthetically pleasing environments close to the sea for outdoor swimming. To this end, I alternate between the coastal areas of Tasmania (Oct - May only) and mainland Australia, often returning to the same homes at the ongoing request of their owners. Tamworth NSW is the one exception however, being another preferred location, due to previous associations there. My home bases are Mona Vale, NSW and South Arm,Tasmania. Numerous references available and all referees happy to be contacted personally.
We are an active couple in our 60's who live on a purpose built property with our extended family. Grandchildren are wonderfull but its nice to get away every now & then for a change of scenery. We have 2 labradors & chooks on our property the care of which we share with the family. We have always had dogs in our lives as well as cats, horses, fish, chooks. Our favourite animals are dogs. We treat them as family. We walk our two Labs every day (for our own health as well as theirs) - We love to travel and in between saving for the next OS trip like to do short breaks to satisfy our need for change. We like reading, watching movies, good food and have a glass of wine at night only. Non smokers. Fastidious in the house although we do let our dogs inside at night for a cuddle. We housesat for 4 months whilst our new houses were being built & we have done 2 houseswops and 2 non recipricol guest hosting. In earlier years we hosted exchange students when our children were still at home.
David and I have been house sitting for 2 years now and truly love this lifestyle. We have been fortunate enough to be continually on the move over this time and have returned to our first house sit a second time. David and I were original Sydney dwellers for 30 odd years and have always owned our own homes up until 2000. We had a hobby farm in Tasmania for 15 years, with farm animals including sheep, goats, chickens a horse, dogs and cats etc. We are familiar with living with tank water/ water pumps, wood heaters, septic systems and basic requirements for rural living. Leaving Tasmania in 2000 we rented in Sydney for a couple of years then moved to the Central Tablelands, NSW for 11 years where we rented a cabin on a 90 acre goat farm. During that time I did volunteer work on a regular basis for 8 years which involved 6 month periods away from home at a time staying with different families every week, so I am very accustomed to living in other peoples' homes. David worked as a full time carpenter in the local area accompanying me regularly on various trips. After leaving the central tablelands we both volunteered on a 7 acre retreat centre in Victoria for 7 months maintaining the property and looking after 3 acres of garden. We have been on the South Coast, NSW for almost 6 months now. I have a background in admin/bookkeeping and David is a carpenter. We are responsible and mature adults and have experienced many different lifestyles including living in Asia and Tibet. We enjoy the experience of new lifestyles and locations and feel that house sitting would be a great opportunity for us to do what we love and benefit the home owner do what they wish to do. At the moment we are on our 8th house sit and we have been invited back to our first house sit for another 3 months. Ideally we would like long term sits of 3-12 months or more preferably NSW and South East Queensland. Our interests include travelling, walking/hiking and water sports. We are both fit and healthy, don't drink or smoke and enjoy the outdoors. We feel that we are able to fit into a city or rural environment as we have lived in both and would certainly care for your home, garden and pets as if our own. We are more than happy to discuss any house sitting jobs, answer questions, provide references, police checks, photos etc and anything else you would like so as to feel comfortable and secure with the house sitter you have chosen. With kind regardsSusan and David Kirkwood
I have been an owner of dogs for 20 years. I am pet friendly, responsible and reliable. I am of good character and trustworthy both with your home and your pets - something that is very important to me, and I empathise with the decision to have someone in your home taking care of your precious pets. When I go away I have pet sitters come to my home so my dogs are in a safe familiar environment in my absence. I am fit and healthy (non smoker) and am able to walk dogs and maintain a clean house. I will respect your home and your privacy. My partner is a stock agent. He is very capable with all requisites re the land and animals. He has cats and aviaries and Ollie the cockatoo. He is a real farm gem. He also works as a gardener on a property in the Western District. He is very capable and versatile and can and will turn his hand to anything. I am interested in house sits by myself, or with Wes, depending on your requirements.Hope we can assist each other .
Animal Lover and Hermit Crab looking for temporary shell to share with furry friends!I am a reliable, responsible and down to earth person (female, German, late-thirties, non-smoker) with a big heart, happy outlook on life and broad interests. I've lived in Australia for 6 years and just got back after three years in Germany, ready to live the digital nomad dream.I love animals (especially cats) and gardens (all kinds) but my travelling life style isn't quite suited to have my own just yet so it would be lovely to care for someone else's for a while. I am honest and have a high standard of cleanliness. I will treat your home and animal/s as if they were my own and look forward to meeting you! :-)
Hi, I am a clean, sporty non-smoker looking for a place to stay with some animal companions. I am a big time animal lover. I have grown up with a dog, multiple cats, a hamster, and horses (in a community stable). While I was an Au Pair in Italy, I loved the family's dogs as I would my own. I walked or ran with them every morning not as a part of my job, but just because I loved doing it. My boyfriend, Jacob (29), is an artist who is very meticulous when it comes to cleaning, and will be staying with me when he is not working. He is great at caring for plants and chickens as his mother has a big beautiful garden and a coop with four chickens, so where I lack in experience, he makes up for it. He shares my love for animals, exercise, and cooking. So we are both looking forward to having a kitchen to use together while I am in Australia. I will have lots of free time during my stay to look after your home and pets and provide both with excellent care while you are away! I will be available from July 15 to mid-AugustI am not Australian, but I have been cleared by the LiveScan background check in the States.
I am a professional that wants to get onto the housing ladder within or near the ACT. I love animals, I can look after chooks, dogs, cats, bunny rabbits, and have had some farm experience. I am also able to maintain a garden. I do not smoke and am a quiet person. References and any other checks may be supplied upon request.I am a quiet, good natured person that is repsonsible and reliable.recent appraisal from a previous house sit......."Thanks for looking after our place so well. Arrived back on Sat and was lovely to walk in to the house (cleaner than when we left)." September 2009.
Hello!I am a former Maths/Science teacher who has chosen to visit Australia via house sitting! I have a car and my traveling mate, Billy, and hope to meet lots of people while traveling. I have rented out my house and am keen to get started. I have my first two sits here in Tasmania and two in Victoria, one near Ballarat and another near Geelong. I am keen to spread my wings! I love to garden and adore animals and am considered to always have a tidy home! I'm a non- smoker. I have had chooks before and love horses and cows! Please consider me for your next sitter!Cheers, Patty
I'm a Sydney-based self-employed artist, working in the contemporary forms of site-specific video, performance and installation. I sometimes work as artist-in-residence with remote and regional communities. I have a home-base in Lane Cove, Sydney, which I've sublet. I've been a house-sitter since 2001, when I returned from 2 years living overseas on a post-grad scholarship. House-sits have come to me from all over Australia via friends, colleagues, word-of-mouth, and house-sitting agencies such as Happy Housesitters. It suits me well to house-sit as I travel extensively for my art practice. My tools of trade are video camera, laptop, sound equipment and projector, which means I travel light and don't need a studio or art materials. For the past 3 years I've been exploring Tasmania via a mixture of WWOOF'ing, house-sitting, camping, bushwalking - climbing mountains and breathing deeply in old growth forests as much as possible. In between house-sits I spend time with friends and family in Sydney and all over Australia. I'm single, no children, don't smoke, drink very little, have my own car. I love to grow and cook good food and am a dab hand in the kitchen, having spent a few years as a professional cook. I love to have the sky as my roof as much as possible - 'chop wood, carry water' has great appeal to me. I'm physically active with bushwalking, swimming, gardening, Pilates, Tai Chi, and I sing in a choir wherever possible. I'm good with farm animals and wildlife and I'm happy to become a domestic animal's human for the time they're in my care. I'm clean and tidy and always leave house, animals and garden well tended. I can attend to incoming mail under your instructions, send scans of anything requiring your attention, and even run an in-house internet trading business if you happen to have one, as does a Hobart home owner for whom I've house-sat a number of times. In other words, I'm energetic, versatile, adaptable and a reasonably quick study. I like long house/land sits. I'm keen to experience eco-sensitive, energy-sustainable homes and properties, to learn from them, to make a sweat contribution to them and to foster optimism about the future.
We are on the road to retirement & looking forward to the next stage in our life, we are still doing some work via the internet & this means that we will be around for most of the time to care & watch over everything for you.As well as travelling & having new experiences along the way, we have found that house sitting really suits us as it is so comforting to stay in a friendly home environment & if there are pets or animals to look after, then their company is an added bonus! We love animals & wildlife & have had a long experience in caring for dogs, cats & farm animals. Unfortunately we no longer have our own pets, so we would welcome the opportunity to care for yours. Over the years we have also had extensive experience in house & garden maintenance having renovated our own properties & also as sitters, we have cared for a number of different types of homes & properties ranging from large farms through to smaller homes & units. We do understand that everyone's house & pets are different & we seriously take this on board & listen to each individuals requests & we will follow through with meeting your specific requirements while we stay & promise to keep you updated while you are away. The opportunity to become your house sitter would be a great privilege & something we would not take for granted, as we both understand it is a necessity to respect your house & property & keep it well maintained while in residence. We are both non smokers, healthy & happy people & look forward to hearing from you.If required we can provide further reputable references & recommendation contacts.Hope to hear from you !Susie & Gary

We prefer secure homes as we need to feel safe and keep your beloved pets safe.We adore animals & will treat them kindly & with respect. If they have special needs we understand that and can discuss your needs. We have extensive experience caring for cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, chickens, chicks, some farm animals, birds, fish & gardens. I am a single professional, self-employed Australian with two adult sons (pursuing their own careers). With no family around me, I no longer need to be based in one location. I enjoy the freedom that house sitting offers where I can be a devoted animal lover to other people's pets while enjoying your location. Being agile and moving to different cities suits my Internet based (email traffic, not heavy downloads) work very well and as I have lived in almost all of Australia's capitals & various cities overseas, I am very much at home wherever I am. I will consider any sit with a preference for long house sits (3-12months). I am open to being in any location, city or region…here are some of my favourites: NYC, Spain, Malta, Central America, Chile, most countries in Europe and NZ. I am self employed as a facilitator and executive coach where I conduct my work 'virtually' via the Internet & Skype. This means I can work anywhere as long as I have fast, reliable Internet. Why I want to house sitThrough past house sitting experience, I recognise the value of house sitting to pet lovers & security for your home while giving me flexibility & variety in lifestyle. I have travelled extensively over the years and am resourceful and socially inclusive. Your pets and home will receive my responsible and loving attention and I will be proactive by staying in touch to keep you informed about how everything is going without being a burden. You can learn more about me via my LinkedIn and business websites which I'd be happy to send you, along with my CV, biography and character referees, for information. I live simply and cleanly and will be very respectful of your home, belongings, security and privacy. I own a car, however, for overseas or remote/ distance house sits, I’d welcome the use of a car if possible please. My experience & promise to youI promise warmth, openness, transparency and genuine care of your pet family and your home. I am pleased to have 'home based' work so I offer a strong presence & companionship for your home & pets. I have been an Australian Army Officer with a top secret positive vet security clearance (21yr), consultant to most Australian Commonwealth Govt departments, 3yrs as deputy chair and director Crime Stoppers & National Trust boards. I pride myself on maintaining high integrity, sound judgement, balance, reliability and being a proactive communicator. I'm also a very loving and gentle person with animals. You can depend on me to keep you informed, make decisions about your pets and home with your priorities in mind. I am comfortable with all types of animals and those with special needs. I will reach out to those in your immediate community network, as advised by you, if needed. I've been a home owner for 25yr, an animal lover for life and I know the value of a quality house sitter. I've had the joy of 7yrs great housing sitting experience myself as a host with my own house sitter, so I fully understand and respect the responsibility that comes with this position. I am also a 'live-in' sitter for people with frequent short absences, so I am there while you come and go. My aim is to give you absolute peace of mind while you are absent while having a cost effective home solution for myself (as a 'local'!) in a new environment. I look forward to getting to know you and your pet family! My previous hosts are all happy to chat with you and I can email you their references if you wish. Wherever possible, if I am in your city, I will always try to meet with you and your pets in advance of the sit so we know 'everyone' is comfortable. Warmly, LisaNOTE: I AM COMMITTED WITH HOUSE SITS UNTIL JUN18 WITH A FEW VACANT WINDOWS FOR OCT17, JAN/FEB & APR18….. HAPPY TO DISCUSS SITS BEYOND JUN18 TOO. Note that it's always worth checking in with me anyway in case I am free due to hosts' change of plans. I like to make contact in advance with new hosts so we can see if we're a fit (for your pets, you & me) in advance of a future sit. Let's chat!

We are two retired, active, music and food loving schoolteachers with a penchant for travelling and enjoying new experiences. We have been involved in house and pet sitting for many years and in many places throughout Australia and overseas. While we have a home in Adelaide, we enjoy a nomadic lifestyle in our motorhome, which makes it unfair to have pets of our own. Housesitting allows us to indulge our love of animals and over the years we have cared for many dogs, cats, birds, horses, sheep, goats, cattle and the like, with dogs, whether big and boisterous or small and cuddly, being our special love. We are certainly respectful, house-proud sitters, with Tony being a dab hand at housework and gardening while Helen is something of an expert at quality control, and you can rest assured that your property and pets will be cared for as if they are our own. We will happily provide you with contact details for phone referees if required.
Hi I'm Jess.I am a 30 year old, single female, I have my own small Bookkeeping business which consists of myself and some online assistance where required. I work from my clients offices and my place of residence. My work involves the use of a Laptop and portable printer and the odd bit of floor space to go through big piles of filing. I tend to work 7 days a week for a number of weeks at a time and then go on a trip away for a week or two. I have no children but i do have a small pomeranian x chihuahua pup, name Ollie. Ollie loves other animals and plenty of walks. I enjoy spending loads of time with Ollie and giving him plenty of love and attention. We love extra friends to hang out with and this is why we both love house sitting so much! I lost my 13 year old bull mastiff 3 years ago, for the last 2 years of his life there were a lot of injections, steroid tablets, shorter sweeter walks and trips to the vet, but the extra care I believe gave him more time and I was grateful for that. They are a member of the family, sometimes the favorite :) I also had 2 cats growing up as a child and loved and cared for them till only 3 years ago. Working from home means I can give any animals a lot of attention and work around their routines. I am happy to walk, give rubs, administer medication or assist with any other requirement your pet may have. I have a bit of a green thumb so weeding and watering will be a pleasure not a chore I am also happy to assist with basic pool and indoor and outdoor home maintenance cleaning. If you need mail checked and phone messages taken and communicated that is no worry. Please ask for anything else and I'll do what I can. I am a very clean, tidy and overly organised person who uses checklists a lot to ensure I complete what I need to do daily. I am responsible and courteous and make sure I treat others homes even better than I would my own. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions. Jess :)
Hello Home Lender! We greatly appreciate the opportunity to look after your home and be your temporary caretaker of your dear pets, plants, mail and anything else that we can share the love with! To be able to stay a little while in your home allows us the chance to make careful decisions about our future. For this we are very grateful! We are a couple of big softies that just over a year ago, packed up our corporate life to move to an amazing part of the earth to volunteer, breathe, & re-set. We are now on our way back to Australia and are looking to slowly re-introduce ourselves to a life less hectic than before we left. The plan for 2017 is to make thoughtful and considered decisions on where to live, to find part-time online work and to enjoy being grateful for the quality of life that Australia offers. Hamish is a boy from Durban, South Africa, big, gentle and kind like Yogi Bear. 20 Years now in Oz and still discovering all our weird but wonderful Australian native animals. I am a Sydney girl, Australian at heart but have let my travels to over 50 other countries mould me. I'm the kind of girl that stops to talk to every animal I see and Hamish is the warm soul by my side that always waits patiently as I chat away in cat or dog to a furry friend. I've grown up with Cat's as family members for my whole life, where as Hamish had gorgeous Dogs. As adults, due to city apartment living, we were limited on pet choices, so for the first 7 years of marriage we saturated with love a crazy Brick-face Persian cat from kitten age. The hardest thing about leaving Australia for the 3rd world, was not quitting jobs and packing our life up - it was leaving our fur ball with my parents. So after arriving overseas, it only took 2 months and we rescued an abandoned cat and gave her a home and she gave us her cat heart. We love Cats.. but we love Dogs. Actually. Ok, we admit it, we love all animals! We have been married 8 years, lived in 2 apartments in Sydney city and regularly stayed in friends, relatives and friends of friends houses over summers and long weekends to mind their plants, pets and keep pools clean. We always valued the trust people placed in us to care for their houses and pets like they were our own. We both like a tidy environment to come home to, so clean up continually to keep order king. We are non smokers, no allergies, we crave fresh air, natural light and after living in the city for years, we are methodical with keys, locks, security and understand it's essential to have a good routine for pets. We invite your questions or requests for more info, we are happy to face-time or chat, whatever is going to make you feel excited and relieved about leaving your home in good hands. Thanks for considering to open up your home to us. We promise to respect everything inside your walls, including you, and hope to add to the memories you've made inside them. Warm regards,Courtney & Hamish
