Hello my name is Sara :) I am very happy to be here on Happy Housesitters and I have been enjoying many wonderful times looking after and caring for homes and pets since October 2017! This is such an enriching and enjoyable thing to do!

Laughter, well-being, and happiness are such important things in life. I love new experiences, and am aware that sometimes we cannot easily go on holidays or have time to ourselves when we have pets, gardens and homes to look after. It is a great pleasure, therefore, to help home and pet owners spend time away, safe in the knowledge that their home and pets are well cared for. House sitting also allows me to spend time writing, exploring, and being in a new environment.

House sitting and looking after pets is a wonderful focus, now that my 2 sons are young adults. House sitting also enables me to visit and spend time with them in Adelaide and Canberra, and this has been a wonderful blessing. I am so grateful that life has presented me with this wonderful path of expanding my work and life into new areas.

I first did some house sitting in 2008 and 2009, and found this to be a great experience. It is lovely to meet new home owners and to care for their home and pets. I have made some wonderful friends in this way! Pets bring such happiness and joy. I particularly love cats, and grew up with them. I also adored looking after my son’s cat, Arthur, when he left home to go travelling. I also enjoy caring for medium to larger dogs that are happy to chill out and relax while I’m writing. I also appreciate a well trained dog :) I enjoy walking, and the owner of a spaniel I cared for, was happy for him to travel with me in the car, so that we could find new places to walk. Pets are so special in our lives!

Owners have commented that their pets seem to gravitate towards me, and are happy to approach me, and often want to sit close to me - or on me! - soon after we are introduced :) The pets soon discover that - because I work in the healing arts, and with my background in massage therapies as well - I tend to massage them, rather than simply stroke them :) I can also arrange to provide my services as an animal communicator and whisperer, as per individual requirements.

For more than 20 years I have been providing guidance, intuitive counselling, healing, meditation, reflexology and more, to help clients navigate through the challenges that life can bring, so that they can find greater happiness, peace, comfort and well-being. House sitting enables me to be brought to locations where I’m able to offer my services in areas where these things may not usually be available. Also, I am able to offer phone consultations and remote healing. This all brings me such joy and many blessings, and the income enables me to continue to provide house and pet sitting, and to travel!

I am now in the creative process of writing, to share my experiences in books and online, and to bring new healing methods to a wider group of people. Longer house sits that are peaceful and situated in nature, or that offer beautiful gardens, really help this process, and are particularly attractive to me :)

I came to live in Australia in 1995 (from England), and life here has brought me many amazing experiences :) Since arriving, I now have 2 gorgeous adult sons, many friends, and family here and overseas. Melbourne and Adelaide were my home towns for many years, and since beginning house sitting, I have loved discovering the immense and diverse beauty of all the south eastern states, and southern Queensland.

I have a wealth of experience with looking after homes, gardens and pets of many different sizes, and in many different locations, from neighbourly suburbs, to remote areas, and in farming/wine growing communities. I am hands on when needed to be, and an experienced gardener, having built several from scratch, with local native as well as exotic plants. I truly love nature, animals, birds, and Earth, and enjoy the ways in which they help to nurture and heal mind, body and soul.

When I was married and my sons were little, we had a hobby farm for 8 years in the Adelaide Hills. I learnt so many wonderful new things during this time of my life! Shearing, bush care, slashing, weeding, fencing, planting veggies and fruit trees, watering sheep and plants - all this alongside caring for the home and family :) It was also great when we began to have WOOFERS (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) come to stay and help.

We sold the farm so that we could spend more time travelling. This included a lot of family time travelling and camping around Australia. We also visited family and friends in England and Europe. During this time I also travelled to Egypt extensively, where I then ran tours. More recently I have enjoyed discovering my own path, and being with myself. I was recently manager for 3 years of a very romantic bed and breakfast Cottage in Aldgate, in the Adelaide Hills. This enabled me to meet many new guests, and feel the joy of providing them with a wonderfully relaxing, luxurious, and welcoming retreat to celebrate special occasions. I also serviced the Cottage, ran online bookings and promotions, and sourced delicious local provisions.

Since then I have been enjoying this new amazing adventure, travelling and providing consultations where I go, with wonderful support and encouragement from my sons and friends. This journey brings me immense joy, and I feel truly blessed!

Two very quiet mature non smoking, non party, women who love classical music. We have been house sitters over the years and locum managers for B&Bs, self catering cottages and small farms. We would now like to pet/house sit for others. as after lots of travelling during which we have had special people look after our beloved boy who sadly has gone where good pets go when it is their time for peace, we would now like to help others to enjoy their travels. References can be supplied, and our police check is up to date Do you need us? We would be very pleased to help you enjoy your adventures.

Hi!
My name is Brett and I'm a high school English and Spanish teacher here in Canberra. I was born in Canberra and while I've lived in many places I keep coming back because I just love this city. My fiancé Lili works in a hotel and she is from Colombia. We met while I was teaching over there and she's been living here for just over 3 years and loves it too.

We hope you will consider us as housesitters for your place as we are really quiet, responsible and dependable people who love animals and would do our utmost to take the best possible care of your place while you're away. We are both non-smokers and take pride in being clean and tidy. We're happy to catch up at any time that is convenient for you to have a chat and so you can get to know us better and take the time to make sure we are the right people for the job.

Many thanks and kind regards,

Brett and Lili

I am an and Educator and published children's Author since September 2015. (you can view my website at www.andrewgholt.com if interested) I was working full time as a teacher ( remote NT) these last 16 months till Easter which gave me time to completer the second book . Prior to that I lived on the Sunshine coast . From Easter 2019 I will return and run workshops for children on weekends and in the holidays whilst relief teaching. Reief teaching gives me more flexibility to work on the next book project, plus spend time with your animals too.
I am looking for a place to sit whilst writing some more and attending local markets on my way back up to the sunshine coast.
I have house sat before and as recent as September 2016 at Tanawha and October 2015 and then before in 2013 in Twin Waters.
I enjoy looking after animals and love spending time with them. I treat them as my own under the quidelines of each owner of course.
I am tidy neat and quiet. I enjoy the opportunity to practice yoga and became a qualified teacher in 2015 in Canada. I love bushwalking , reading about education and working on promoting the books I have published and writing draughts for future books. I am able to supply references if need so.
I have had a farm background as a child/teenager and have always had animals in my youth. My extensive travel as a teacher these last few years prevents me from having my own, so I would love the opportunity to look after yours.
I look forward to connecting if you feel I would be the right match. Any questions happy to chat.

Hi! I’m a fifty+ single mum and nana. I’m very neat and tidy, living a quiet and serene life. I absolutely adore dogs and enjoy other pets as well. I keep fit with daily walks that I would love to share with a fur-friend. Because I’m taking some time off from the corporate world to revive and refresh myself, I have all day and night to lavish attention on your pets and care for your home. The reason I’m interested in house sitting is to become more familiar with areas that I might like to retire to. I have previous experience in house and pet sitting with references when required. So if you’re looking for someone who will love your pet, care for your home, and not be a nuisance to your neighbours, then I’m the perfect person for you.

I have had a number of careers from Cadet Surveyor in Tasmania, a Patrol Officer (Kiap) with the Australian Government in remote outstations in Papua New Guinea, and a career in administration and sales in the Aluminium and Timber Industries in Australia.
I am a retired CPA (Degree in Commerce) and am a JP (Qual) in Queensland. I am a very practical and hands on person and able to take on many tasks.
As owner builders Margaret and I built our two story timber home at Hervey Bay where we lived for 20 years prior to basing ourselves at Agnes Water in Queensland. During our seven years in PNG I was posted to very isolated outstations where I was responsible for most government matters including police, magisterial, treasury and local government affecting the local people of a sub district.
We are quite happy to house sit in areas that are isolated.
Margaret as a retired early childhood teacher has taught in Primary schools in Tasmania, NSW, PNG, ACT and Queensland for the past 42 years. She loves gardening and outdoors.
We have owned swimming pools in Brisbane and Townville and know how to maintain them.
We have had many pets over the years. Our last two dogs were a German Shepherd and a three kg toy poodle who were great mates as we had them at the same time. We do not have pets now.
We have our own self contained off road caravan and could be independent.
We have house and pet minded at the town of Seventeen Seventy (near Agnes Water) on two occasions looking after three large dogs.
We are currently travelling our way around Australia and wish to see and experience as much as we can.
We have a son in Sydney and a daughter at Agnes Water and four grandchildren who we love dearly and visit regularly.
Above all we are friendly, have a good sense of humour, active and enjoy meeting people. You can rest assured that we would look after your property in the best way.

Gary: 51, Naturopath / Vanessa: 49, Writer / Alfred: 19 Student

Hi I am Gary of a family of three. We are very loving and family orientated. Over the decades, we have had many animals in our family, so far: dogs, cats, guinea pigs, a bird, chickens, fish and mice. We are still looking for a forever-home dog after our rescue-dog, Bella, died in 2017.

We believe in sustainability and alternative environmental options instead of industrial/chemical options - if we have to use a mainstream option we don't mind, but obviously environmental is our first choice. We love and accept all the people and culture that embodies our beautiful Earth. Our lives are simple and we aren't too radical when it comes to our social life. We do like meeting new people, however.

We have owned our home in the past and are conscious of maintenance and upkeep to ensure the house retains its value. We always leave the home in the way we found it. It would be an honour to care for your home, your pets and your garden. We take pride in our housekeeping.

We are new to House Sitting and are on our second assignment. Both assignments were personally offered to us. Please see our reference from the first assignment. Our current assignment is complete on 11 July – we can supply a reference when the homeowners return from being abroad. We are happy to discuss any issue regarding your needs. Please contact us.

My interests are fishing, gardening, spiritual matters, natural medicines, reading, walking, cooking and renovating. (Police clearance)

Vanessa's interests are arts and crafts, religion/mythology/spirituality/fairytales, Wisdom Crosswords and cryptograms, gardening, home preserves, board games/cards, bargain hunting, upcycling/recycling, music and family. (Police Clearance)

Alfred's interests are gaming, reading, creative writing, film, family movie night, entomology (insects) and neuroscience. He is on his Gap Year 2019.

Although we have no experience, we are willing to train regarding the care of farm animals and horses.

We are a responsible, trustworthy, non-smoking freelance/semi-retired couple with plenty of common sense, responsibility and reliability.
We are German born with Australian Permanent Residency/European Citizenship. We both held responsible positions in our careers. Reiner enjoyed a managing position for over 15 years at a renowned public health insurance in Duisburg and I was the managing director of an interior design company and the owner of a reputable home and giftware store with a number of employees in Sydney. We are currently enjoying some time-out and are possessed by the travel bug and welcome this alternate lifestyle of housesitting around the world. While Reiner has the freedom to pretty much enjoy the better things in life I would still like to take on some casual work in the area for a few hours per week depending on the housesit tasks. This way we have more time for ourselves and do the things we truly enjoy, we also have the flexibility to travel with or without our caravan (in Europe) and also do the things we really love doing, like walking, riding bicycles, yoga, meditation reading, cooking, crafting, listening to music..
As of lately we have been taking care of Reiners elderly parents but as things are stabilizing now and they are at good care we are ready to take off to new ventures, again.
We aim to take a professional approach to housesitting and would like to undertake a variety of housesit assignments around the world. We have many years of travel experience and are easily and quickly comfortable elsewhere. We would feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to housesit in different countries and experience their history and culture and learning a new language is always great fun. Housesitting enables us to experience diverse areas and cultures and getting to know the community we live in.
We have both been brought up surrounded by pets and they played a huge part of our life and they have been treated like family members. Our travelling lifestyle precludes us from having our own pets so we particularly love to spoil your beautiful two or four legged family members that we have entrusted to our care.
We have already had some positive experiences in the housesitting community and we would very much welcome the opportunity to sit for you. We are an open minded couple and our time traveling throughout Europe with our Caravan has been introducing us to our nomadic life style. We are not new to the concept of ‘house-sitting’ and regularly find ourselves taking care of the pets of our (camping) neighbours and spoiling their dogs and cats with cuddles or walk or sit them.
We feel that housesitting is home away from home. We look after everything as we would if the house was our own. We both own properties and have a good common sense of how and what to be taken care of. We have renovated our own properties and landscaped our gardens so we can put our hands to most things should the need arise in an emergency.
We know that it may be worrying for you to leave your pets and home; we are very conscious of this and we will make sure that we communicate regularly by e-mail, Skype or whatsapp to reassure you that all is well.
We recognize the importance of selecting the right house-sitters to look after your home, pets and garden. We are genuine animal lovers and having pets to look after is a pleasure for us. We are also house proud and we will keep your house and garden looking clean and tidy and maintained in good condition for your return.
We can provide police checks and any other information you may wish to know upon request. Happy to Skype also as an introduction and a way to get to know us more upfront.
Do contact us as we are always happy to discuss your individual house-sitting needs.

Kind regards,

Christina & Reiner

I have been an owner of dogs for 20 years. I am pet friendly, responsible and reliable. I am of good character and trustworthy both with your home and your pets - something that is very important to me, and I empathise with the decision to have someone in your home taking care of your precious pets. When I go away I have pet sitters come to my home so my dogs are in a safe familiar environment in my absence. I am fit and healthy (non smoker) and am able to walk dogs and maintain a clean house. I will respect your home and your privacy. My partner is a stock agent. He is very capable with all requisites re the land and animals. He has cats and aviaries and Ollie the cockatoo. He is a real farm gem. He also works as a gardener on a property in the Western District. He is very capable and versatile and can and will turn his hand to anything. I am interested in house sits by myself, or with Wes, depending on your requirements. I do have references on this site, from previous happy pet owners. Hope we can assist each other ..

Hello. I am a retired senior federal public servant, mature (sadly!), married woman looking to do some house sitting. I live with my husband in our own home on the Gold Coast and we currently have a dog and a cat. I am an experienced "pet" person, having had all manor of animals in my home, from mice, birds, fish to cats and dogs. Our own dog (a kelpie) is currently 7 years old and a very crazy young thing, needing lots and lots of exercise. He was supposed to be an outside dog, but somehow that rule hasn't been fully applied! Our cat is almost 4 and is very much busy with chasing the dog around. I am able to garden, clean the pool, look after the house and pets. I am a non smoker. Though I plan to "house sit" usually by myself, there would be times when my husband would join me for a short break. We are both thoroughly house trained! We are planning to formally retire in a few years and I feel that house sitting in different places would help me to get a feel for various districts by living like a local, rather than as a tourist. I am most happy to look after pets and would look after your home well. I have now done many house sits (and many return sits) and can forward names and contact details for these house owners as references. I have a written personal character reference that I can send on to you as well. Hopefully all will tell you how wonderful I am. Oh, and also that I am honest, reliable and trustworthy. You can email me on eevahelena@yahoo.com.au anytime. My preference is for short breaks, up to three weeks or so, and around the ACT or anywhere in NSW. Thanks. Eeva

We are a professional couple with no pets of our own and no kids. Dani is a doctor based at The Canberra Hospital and I am in real estate. We are looking to settle down in the ACT but decided to take a year before buying a house to get a feel for some different neighbourhoods. We both have a deep affection for animals and both had family dogs and cats growing up. Dani was raised in Canberra and her mom, dad, and sister all still live in the ACT. We are a responsible, respectful couple who appreciate that it takes a lot of trust to let someone into your home. We'd love the opportunity to discuss house sitting for you.

I am a mature, female IT contractor working in Canberra since May 2015 and located in Canberra. I have a home in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs minded by my son and his girlfriend who love and adore our two rescue cats - a gorgeous ginger cat called Mr Boots and his partner in crime, (Princess) Cienna!

With employment in Canberra, I have found house-sitting to be a convenient way to relax, enjoy the company of a surrogate animal (cats preferred but will mind a dog, and now have added chickens!), look after a home while owners travel and provide a peaceful break from other temporary accommodation options. Another house-sitting website has references from completed housesits as well as an independent character reference (You are free to view via this link (https://www.trustedhousesitters.com/house-and-pet-sitters/australia/victoria/mont-albert-north/).

This website also has two Happy Housesitter references for your viewing:
https://mysitter.happyhousesitters.com.au/References/ReferenceDetail/18732
https://mysitter.happyhousesitters.com.au/References/ReferenceDetail/18263

My employment up in Canberra since 2015, in Federal government departments has required a baseline clearance which involved a police check however I have a long history of successful housesits and caring for dogs, cats and now I can add chickens to my repertoire. Many of my housesits now, are return requests or through referrals in my network.

All I need are simple instructions for your accommodation and contact points for managing any issues or if care is needed for any animals – you can be assured I will provide exemplary care and consideration to home and animals. Many of my housesit contacts are now friends and willingly contact me to return. On occasion, I have helped out by dropping in to feed animals for my housesit network if I am already committed to another housesit and cannot stay.

My personal qualities can be summarised as outgoing, fit, happy, cheerful, of an independent nature, considerate, capable, very clean, tidy, a non-smoker, a virtually non-drinker (occasional glass of wine, only) who loves animals and will care and pamper your cats! I’m a cat owner – I know how spoilt they can and should be! I have looked after dogs as well and happily take them out for a walk. I am respectful of your property and utilities. I do require off-street parking and preferably garaging if that is available.
Some of my housesits have said their animals have actually missed me! That’s a pretty good referral.

All I need from you is a key handover (haven’t lost a key yet!) and written instructions outlining any special requirements such as bin night, watering, alarm systems, etc. I don't need to use your car - but happy to start it up or drive around the block so the battery doesn't go flat.

Other than that, you do not need to worry about anything while you travel secure in the knowledge that property and animals will be looked after. I always stay in touch either brief SMS, WhatsApp or a longer email with cheery updates so you will always be able to contact me. I love to hear about owners’ travels and have received many photo updates and I’ll do the same.

Please feel free to contact me and chat. I would love to meet you and look after your animal/s and home! See if we can work something out.

I currently live and work in Melbourne, living in a share household. I house sit as I also enjoy having time to myself. I also love caring for pets. Over the past years I have sat on many occasions with many homeowners asking me back to sit for them.

I will take really good care of your pets. I genuinely enjoy both cats and dogs. I Like taking dogs for walks and offering lots of affection. Same for cats too...except the walking.

Will also take good care of your property and leave it in an excellent condition.

I have excellent references. A police check. I don't smoke.
I am a friendly respectful guy who is very clean and tidy

Hello,

We are a non-smoking, mature aged couple who will look after your home and pets as if they were your own. We are willing to travel to most areas of Australia. At the moment we are looking for a house-sit in NSW, Victoria or Q'ld, but are willing to consider/travel other states. We are experienced house sitters, having done many sits over recent years including many return requests.

Our reasons for house sitting are simple. It gives us the opportunity of seeing different parts of this beautiful country, and it also to gives us the opportunity to provide the home owner with peace of mind that their home and animal/s will be extremely well cared for, should we be granted that privilege.

We take pride in what we do, being both neat and tidy. We enjoy a quiet life, are very capable, employ common sense and take care of things the way we would hope some-one would do for us.

We have cared for many different animals, cats (many varieties including Ragdoll, Himalayan, Russian Blue, Birman, Burmese, Siamese, much loved long haired and short haired moggies, all with different personalities and requirements, some indoor only felines). We have cared for number dogs (Malamut-cross, Border Collie, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Staffy, Flatcoat Retriever, Labradoodle, Swiss Shepherd to name a few), fish, chickens and cows a herd of 20+. In recent times we can add sheep and goats. We have looked after suburban properties and rural/semi-rural with water tanks and septic systems, pumps and bio-cycles.

We can provide excellent references upon request. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi there, I'm a semi retired 50 something male (non smoker) who looks after people's pets and homes. I have had many happy clients, including lots of dogs and cats and horses and cows (see pics); I'm sure their owners are happy too.

I have many references from pet owners who you can speak to; including police personnel, doctors and business owners, so you can check my bona fides.

I have much rural experience and I'm rather handy with tractors, diggers, ride on lawn mowers, chainsaws and the like. Homes in my care have varied from farms to cute cottages to executive palaces and high security homes.

My preferences are northern rivers of NSW / sthn Queensland and the greater Sydney area, and now, Melbourne. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks :)

Available from Aug 22, 2019.

Active, healthy non smoking couple - social drinkers only - aged 68. Self employed prior to retiring with a background in family farming followed by tourism when we owned and ran holiday accommodation for ten years where cleanliness was of prime importance. Our business consisted of 10 cottages and 3 acres of grounds and garden which we maintained ourselves.

Wide interests including interior decorating, gardening, reading, music, natural history, bush walking, travel, and how life ticks in general! Since retiring, we are keen to see more of our great country and would love to come to your part of the world and would consider it a privilege to care for your home.

What we offer:
Lifelong experience with and love of all animals. We have always had a variety of pets as well as caring for the farm animals. Enjoy gardening and happy to care for your garden as well as pets. Experienced in general repairs and maintenance if the necessity arises.
Having always owned our own home (except for renting for 15 months following the sale of our business and whilst considering our options), we understand the importance of having someone trustworthy and reliable to care for and maintain and care for your home and pets. We have now been house sitting for over 6 years and looked after 50 homes and various animals.

Happy to provide references and Police clearance.

Hello Myself and my partner currently live in Brisbane Queensland. We both moved here 4 years ago to study and work. Parents of 3 beautiful grown up girls. We have in the past been parents and carers of cats/dogs, chickens, goats, sheep, snakes, lizards, birds and rabbits to name a few. Now the girls have grown and moved out of the family home we find ourselves with time to explore. So combining our love of travel and respect/ love of animals here we are.
We take great pride in our family home and your home will be looked after and as tidy as you left it. We like to be busy so are happy to do some gardening, mow a lawn and small jobs around the home with your permission.
Great references.
Short notice usually ok depending on travel costs.
Happy to sms pics of your fur babies for reassurance if requested.

Responsible retired couple available to care for your home, domestic pets and garden.

We are a retired couple (non-smokers) from Brisbane with interests in golf, gardening, photography and genealogy. We enjoy road trips, spending time in one place and leisurely exploring an area and community. Since 2014 we have undertaken a number of house-sitting assignments and have found it a rewarding experience. We are always respectful of someone else’s property and possessions, taking care to maintain the property to a high standard.

We have owned dogs, cats and birds in the past and they were always considered an integral part of our family. We would describe ourselves as “animal lovers” and have experience in the care of domestic animals such as feeding, administering medication, grooming and walking.

Past housesitting assignments have involved the maintenance of pools and gardens together with the care of the following furry and feathered family members: (1) a Cavoodle, a Maltese Cross and tabby cat at Robina, Qld; (2) a 9 month old West Highland Terrier at Scarborough, Qld; (3) on 13 occasions (ranging from 1 to 3 weeks duration) 2 Cocker Spaniels (14 and 12 years of age) at Warana, Qld; (4) a 15 year old Birman cat, a 5 year old Cavoodle, a Budgie and 2 fish tanks at Palmview, Qld; (5) on 2 occasions, 2 Samoyeds (13 and 9 years of age) at Peregian Springs/Beach, Qld; (6) 2 Labradors (5 and 2 years of age) at Arundel, Qld; and (7) a 4 year old Turkish Angora cat at Toowoomba, Qld.

We would feel privileged to be given the opportunity to take care of your pets and property.
