We are a retired couple who spend a lot of time travelling both domestically and internationally. We also use our caravan around Tasmania. We live in a seaside suburb just south of Hobart and we have a 2 storey house with well maintained gardens and we are both very house proud. We have had dogs and birds in the past but due to our frequent travelling we don’t have any pets at the moment.
I worked with Tasmania Police for 25 years and can provide a Police clearance if required. Jenny worked with the Health Department for 22 years.
We welcome the opportunity to look after your house and pets if required.

We have sold our lifestyle block, dream home and animals, preferring to travel and the good company of new friends. We are currently undecided about our final destination. We resigned from our jobs in November 2015 and have spent the last 3.5 years travelling the world and house sitting. We have enjoyed the hospitality of many kind, like minded people across the world, leaving wonderful memories and enjoyed finding our way in new lands and communities. We love life, people, animals, good wine, good coffee, good food and great company.

Our pet-caring experience is extensive and varied - dogs (large & small), cats, fish, ponies, sheep, quails, chickens etc.

If you have pets, be assured that we truly appreciate the security they feel with a familiar schedule/exercise/playtime routine and promise you that your customs, requirements and feeding schedule will be adhered to.

However, we know from experience, it's not just animals who can suffer from separation anxiety! To remedy this we send regular updates of your pets.

We are practical people and as experienced house sitters are used to dealing with a wide variety of issues - blown fuses, power outages, water issues, pools, security, etc.

In summary: -
- We offer honesty, reliability and commitment.
- We guarantee security-conscious, respectful care of your property.
- We assure you that your pets will have plenty of attention and loving company whilst you are away.

If you want to see what we've been up to for the last 2 years check out our blog www.virgoswilltravel.wordpress.com. There's no advertisements and we're not trying to sell anything. It's just a fun record of our travels and housesits.

We are always keen to Skype or Facetime to get to know you and answer any important questions.

We very much look forward to hearing from you.

Police checks and additional references are available on request.

Hi I am a single, mature female. This is a time of exploration for me, I work as a casual, agency, theatre nurse, a job that can take me all around Australia. My children are grown and I am free to enjoy different places and people. I have always had animals and love nothing more than the unconditional love they bring to life. I am vegetarian, I neither smoke nor drink and I have practiced and taught yoga and meditation for the past 30 years.
I look forward to the opportunity to house sit for you,
Jan

We are a couple in our early 60’s – recently retired who enthusiastically enjoy house sitting because it allows us to provide a valuable personalized service to home owners. Nothing gives us more pleasure than making home owners feel comfortable with being away from home, knowing their house is in good hands until the owner's return. We're very grateful to all our wonderful clients for the opportunities they have granted us through inviting us into their homes and lives. We receive trust, and in exchange, we provide loving care. We are non-smokers who are honest, reliable and dependable house sitters who will respect your property and personal things. Our background was in education. We have owned a home and are fully conscious of the care and security needed in keeping a house (including a pool) maintained. Also we have had pets that lived very long comfortable lives because we treated them as part of our family. We will care for your pets as if they were part of our own family. We have had experience in house/pet sitting before and we have references available on request.

Hello,
I am a professional writer, animal lover and experienced housesitter.

I have been housesitting for a couple of years since returning from 2 years working for an NGO in Guatemala.

I have cared for many animals - old and young cats and dogs, guinea pigs, rabbits, chooks, tropical fish, sheep and llamas -shared the bed with some, given medication to others and fallen in love with many. I have also kept many plants and small gardens alive and well.

Housesitting has been a great and enjoyable way for me to relearn Melbourne and restore some savings after earning local wages in Central America.

In my spare time I like to: walk (ideally somewhere green or near water), practice Spanish, cook, tango, meditate, and read fiction or about architecture.

I am happy to answer any questions you may have about me or housesitting generally and hope to help with your housesitting needs soon.

Have a lovely day.
Susanne

23 November 2017 To whom it may concern Re: Monica from Margaret River as house sitter As you are aware leaving one’s home and pets in the care of someone you don’t know is rather daunting, risky and worrying. Monica house sat for us from 2-20 November 2017 and I was delighted with the care she took of our dog and our home. I returned to find a well exercised happy dog, the house looking immaculate, that garden watered, the sheets washed, beds made up with fresh linen, and vases filled with flowers from the garden. I was delighted. I would not hesitate to recommend Monica as a mature, reliable and conscientious house sitter and would be very happy to be contacted to verify this reference. I would also not hesitate to ask her to house sit again if she is available next year. I currently live and work in Melbourne, living in a share household. I house sit as I also enjoy having time to myself. I also love caring for pets. Over the past years I have sat on many occasions with many homeowners asking me back to sit for them.

I will take really good care of your pets. I genuinely enjoy both cats and dogs. I Like taking dogs for walks and offering lots of affection. Same for cats too...except the walking.

Will also take good care of your property and leave it in an excellent condition.

I have excellent references. A police check. I don't smoke.
I am a friendly respectful guy who is very clean and tidy
Cheers, Patrick

We are a 'senior' couple (non-smokers) and have recently moved to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland area after having sold our rural property in Tasmania late last year.

In 2017 we became "professional house sitters" and enjoyed the experience very much. However we made the decision to become home owners again late 2017, but this does not mean we have "retired" and will always consider any suitable situations.

We would particularly be interested in discussing our suitability for your needs if you live in the Sydney Northern/Eastern suburbs, Melbourne City suburbs or far North Queensland.

We are practical people and have mostly lived on small acreage properties in Tasmania. We've enjoyed the company of many pets over the years including 2 cats, 2 dogs, a pet sheep, 2 goats (so not 'pet'!) and chickens.

We have had work experience related to housesitting placements when we worked on a remote Pilbara island, and in Coral Bay, WA. Doug was responsible for pool maintenance and general groundsman work, and I did housekeeping duties - and kitchen hand! It was a great experience living on a remote island, and fairly challenging coping with a Pilbara summer. We have also worked in a remote Aboriginal Community in the N.T. Doug was the Essential Services Operator and I looked after the Creche in the morning before changing hats to be the Centrelink Agent/general office admin. person in the afternoon. It was another wonderful opportunity and gave us an insight into the lives of Australia's indigenous people.

During 2017 (our 'gap year') we had the pleasure of meeting several home owners and their pets, and now have experience with managing big, bouncy dogs to the little feisty ones, chooks and cattle.
We can supply excellent references with one home owner declaring we would win a house sitter of the year award - if there was one!
We fully appreciate that making the decision to have people you don't know come to your home and care for your pets, garden and house may be a difficult one. We would like to assure you we would take the time to listen to what is required for your 'loved ones' to remain happy in their home, and would promise to care and respect your property as if it was our own. We are honest and reliable people!

Most recently we had police checks done, which is a requirement for people working for the Australian Electoral Commission in OIC roles at State and Federal Elections, and this we have done on many occasions. We are in the process of obtaining our own police checks. Also police checks were done when working in the N.T. and when I did volunteer work for Vinnies (Airlie Beach) and The Red Cross (South Perth).

Our interests are travel, music (member of a Community Band) quilting, gardening, walking and baking. I love to discover new speciality shops, delis, etc. We enjoy concerts and the theatre.

Below are two references, contact details could be supplied once you have made contact with us, and as we receive new ones we will add them as well.

Thanks for taking the time to read our profile, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Thérèse and Doug Boote.

I have been an owner of dogs for 20 years. I am pet friendly, responsible and reliable. I am of good character and trustworthy both with your home and your pets - something that is very important to me, and I empathise with the decision to have someone in your home taking care of your precious pets. When I go away I have pet sitters come to my home so my dogs are in a safe familiar environment in my absence. I am fit and healthy (non smoker) and am able to walk dogs and maintain a clean house. I will respect your home and your privacy. My partner is a stock agent. He is very capable with all requisites re the land and animals. He has cats and aviaries and Ollie the cockatoo. He is a real farm gem. He also works as a gardener on a property in the Western District. He is very capable and versatile and can and will turn his hand to anything. I am interested in house sits by myself, or with Wes, depending on your requirements. I do have references on this site, from previous happy pet owners. Hope we can assist each other ..

Hi,my husband and I are retired teachers 63 and 64 who have lived and worked in the same area for 36 years. Of course as teachers we had regular police checks and we can also provide lots of references. After retirement we went to Canada, Hawaii, Far North Queensland and Tasmania. Yes, we've caught the travel bug! We've had sits in Far North Queensland, NSW, Vic and Tassie. We would like a sit in WA. SA.or NT but you would need to give us plenty of notice so we can organise our travel details.
We are friendly, reliable and caring and now that we are retired, our children have grown up and our beloved pets passed away we are rattling around our house with time on our hands. We love animals and always look after all our friends and neighbours pets, houses, gardens and mail when they are away. One of them suggested pet and house sitting as it involves travelling, animals and gardening! As a retired couple we are available for any length of time and we can plan to house sit everywhere in Australia for the next 12 to 24 months after which time we hope our children will provide us with grandchildren to spoil. As my husband Ross is a very keen fisherman we try for locations close to good fishing areas and we need room for his fishing boat.
We will take meticulous care of your house, mail, indoor plants, veggie gardens and lovingly look after dogs, cats, birds, fish, chooks, rabbits and guinea pigs. We are more than happy to be in touch with you prior to the pet and house sit and we can also give you updates during your trip so get in touch with us any time to discuss your needs and travel dates as we will try to accommodate our time to suit your needs.
We prefer the northern areas of Australia during the winter months and escaping the cold Victorian winters. Ross is a keen fisherman and gardener, I adore reading and writing and tend to be more of a home body and we both really enjoy seeing new sights and meeting new people. You can leave knowing we will take extremely good care of your pets, house and garden and while you’re away. Ross and I are looking forward to getting to know you and giving your pets our love and attention. Prior to handover we would prefer a written list of your requirements and instructions and of course contact details such as your mobile number and email address. We know the importance of trust in this relationship and can assure you of our honesty and love of animals, in fact we've found the hardest part of pet sitting is saying goodbye to the pets because we grow so fond of them. Luckily for us we have lots of repeat house sits which makes us very happy.

Hi, We are a couple 69 and 63. We have recently retired and have already done a number of house sits on Magnetic island and in the Brisbane area also as far south as Port Macquarie. We have enjoyed it immensely, we now would like to get more into house sitting to see more of this wonderful country. Our house sitting preference at this time would be Queensland or Northern NSW, however we are looking at all states.
We have lived in our own house in Coffs Harbour for 40 years. We are a very stable couple who pride ourselves on looking after other peoples houses and animals the same as we look after our own.
Although we have not had any dogs or cats at home we do have quite a bit of experience with animals, looking after many different kinds during the house sitting jobs that we have previously done. Spencer has also worked at an animal park for 40 years.
We have bred birds as a hobby for the last 10 years.
We are sure your house and animals would be in good hands with us looking after it while you are away.
We are both non-smokers and enjoy the outdoors. References are available.
Please call us to discuss any needs you may have.

Active, healthy non smoking couple - social drinkers only - aged 68. Self employed prior to retiring with a background in family farming followed by tourism when we owned and ran holiday accommodation for ten years where cleanliness was of prime importance. Our business consisted of 10 cottages and 3 acres of grounds and garden which we maintained ourselves.

Wide interests including interior decorating, gardening, reading, music, natural history, bush walking, travel, and how life ticks in general! Since retiring, we are keen to see more of our great country and would love to come to your part of the world and would consider it a privilege to care for your home.

What we offer:
Lifelong experience with and love of all animals. We have always had a variety of pets as well as caring for the farm animals. Enjoy gardening and happy to care for your garden as well as pets. Experienced in general repairs and maintenance if the necessity arises.
Having always owned our own home (except for renting for 15 months following the sale of our business and whilst considering our options), we understand the importance of having someone trustworthy and reliable to care for and maintain and care for your home and pets. We have now been house sitting for over 6 years and looked after 50 homes and various animals.

Happy to provide references and Police clearance.

Mature-Minded, Professional, Responsible & Experienced House/Pet Sitter! 38 Year Old - FT Student - Self Employed (online) - Non-smoker - Social Drinker (rare) - Pescetarian

Having experience in UK, WA, SA and Vic and NSW, with my two occasions house sitting continuously; two years across Sydney from late 2010 to late 2012 before moving to Perth and then three and a half years across the country from WA to NSW to explore! I have looked after a variety of animals... in diverse areas. This includes dogs, cats, birds, fish, rats and mice, horses, a pony and chooks in city, country and coast!!!

I am now 'retired' from the full time gig but very much open to re-exploring many of the area's I have been / discovering more wonderful pets and places alone and with company... my company will of course comes with their own ref checks!

I offer you and your pets that care-free companionship they require when you take off for work or pleasure... I have been a member of this site and Aussie House Sitters for years (I'm now registered with Mind A Home yet have not booked via this site as yet) and in addition to attached references I have emails, text messages and a number of contacts to provide for further emails or to call and review with owners directly.

This would be war and peace if I continued to delve into all the experiences I have had but I can tell you, although I did house sit with my little dog Sam (and would love my holiday sits in NSW to allow me to bring him along), for certain areas and other States I'm open and/or wanted to book 'getaway sits' without him as well. Just don't tell him as he will never forgive me!!!

We look forward to hearing from you!
Nicola (& Sammy)

PS If you would care for any additional photo's or video's of Sammy playing with other dogs (primarily prefer sits with a smaller breed of dog if Sam joins me) please do ask away!!!

Hello

We are a retired couple and have been travelling and exploring (housesitting most of the time) for several years. We label what we do as slow travel and for the last year we’ve been in Broken Hill. But we are keen to get back out there and have resumed housesitting.
We are non-smokers and very quiet people. We are doing housesitting as a way to explore new places, meet new people and to have some quality time with animals when the opportunity arises. I (Paul) am a photographer and always welcome being in new places with new people and scenes to record. Pauline is using her time to explore drawing and painting and a little photography as her way of experiencing the new places we are continually discovering.

As mentioned above, we have been pet and housesitting for much of the last few years, both in England and here in Australia. Our housesitting references, as well as a couple of property references are listed on this site (some have been copied from other Housesitting sites we have been registered with over the years). Sharing our lives with animals is essential for us and we have cared for a great many in housesitting assignments as well as having had pets of our own in the past. During our housesitting lives we have cared for all shapes, sizes, and breeds of dogs, and many cats ranging from kittens and very timid rescued animals all the way to the ones who see themselves as ‘royalty’. Also, we have cared for a variety of birds as well as the odd lizard. We understand that each animal is a unique individual with its own specific needs, and we take the responsibility of caring for them very seriously. They are always our number one priority. We are very much ‘home bodies’, which means we are always there to provide security for your home and time for your pets.
In addition we have National Police Certificates which are available for sighting if required.
We look forward to hearing from you and if you need any more information from us, please contact us.
Thank you
Pauline and Paul

Hi! We are Troy and Bek. We are travelling around Australia for an extended period while exploring and picking up nursing shifts. We would love to do some house sitting during our stay and look forward to caring for your property as if it were our own while you enjoy your break away.

We are a non-smoking couple with no kids or pets currently (although we’d love to look after your fur babies), in our late 30’s and 40’s from Brisbane (although Troy comes with a Scottish accent), looking for a cooler sea change while traveling around Australia in our camper trailer. We are both nurses (we will have to work while we are exploring) who love the outdoors, nature, animals, hiking, food and travel.

We have done a few house sits around Brisbane and while travelling in Tasmania and have references available on request. We have experience with dogs, cats, birds and fish but are willing to take on responsibility for any of your beloved animals with proper instructions (we are quick studies). We also commonly use Airbnb while travelling so have many reviews that show us to be great house guests!!

We have returned from 4 months in Tasmania to mainland Australia and are heading to explore Central Australia to commence the rest of our journey so hit us up and see if will be available to care for your property and pets!

We are interested in finding LONG TERM sits in either MELBOURNE or ADELAIDE from February to May, 2020 while we pick up some nursing shifts in the city (longer than 4 weeks and up to 4 months).

Please contact us via PM or email if there is anything we could help you with or if you have any queries and would like further information.

You may like to look at our Facebook page Ultimately just a Saunter or our Instagram account ultimatesaunter to see a little more about us.

Thank you for taking the time to read our profile and for considering us for your future holiday needs.

Cheers,
Troy & Bek

P.S We will require parking (& power during longer term sits) for our camper and car - the camper is the size of an average car and the Prado travels with a fully loaded roof so if higher than normal

Hi, we are a semi retired couple in our late fifties taking some time out to travel this beautiful country of ours. Completing the lap in our caravan we are looking for opportunities to stop, park up and explore and housesitting provides an ideal way to do so.
We are experienced housesitters, are very trustworthy and dependable, we are both non smokers and only light social drinkers.
As home owners we understand of the importance of looking after your house and we will treat your property and personal things as we would treat our own - with the utmost respect, keeping your property clean, tidy and secure, caring for it until your return home. We are also very happy to look after your lawn and garden whilst your house is in our care.
We are both animal lovers and will look after your pets in accordance with your directions and just like your house, we will treat your fur babies like they are our own. We have extensive experience with dogs, in particular greyhounds and up until starting our journey we were fostering rescues for GAP.
We are happy to send you updates and pics of your pets to show you they are happy, safe and well cared for.

Hi,
Our names are Chris and Phil. We have just entered our 50's and are at the stage where we are ready to travel and see what the rest of Australia has to offer. We have now travelled throughout Victoria, from early December through To the end of January, and have made our way through Adelaide and have now finally made it to the west and beyond !! House sitting and looking after your animals so you can take some time out same seems like a great way to go, and mutually beneficial !!! I am originally a Melbourne girl and Phil a WA boy. We are both extremely reliable and down to earth. We are impeccable when it comes to looking after other peoples properties and fur babies as we understand how extremely important this is. We come very experienced as we have been sitting properties and pets over the last few years . We have downloaded references for your perusal and can provide police checks where required. We have both just fiinished a life time of full time employment - I was an administrator in health, my last job as a receptionist for a prosthetic limb clinic and Phil a transport truck driver. We are not party people, like to lead a simple life. I have come from a city life and Phil bought up on a family farm, so we feel that we have everything covered when it comes to looking after your house/property and your animals. We are experienced in looking after a variety of animals, dogs, cats, birds, sheep, chickens, ducks, calves, you name it we have looked after it !! We are used to and are happy to follow any specific instructions that you have, afterall its your home and your animals in our care. Both Phil and I own our own homes, so know the importance of looking after others properties and belongings. We have no pets ourselves presently, so excited to meet yours. We are both non-smokers and only occasional drinkers, we both have grown up families and between us have 6 grandchildren. I am an and Educator and published children's Author since September 2015. (you can view my website at www.andrewgholt.com if interested) I was working full time as a teacher ( remote NT) these last 16 months till Easter which gave me time to completer the second book . Prior to that I lived on the Sunshine coast . From Easter 2019 I will return and run workshops for children on weekends and in the holidays whilst relief teaching. Reief teaching gives me more flexibility to work on the next book project, plus spend time with your animals too.
I am looking for a place to sit whilst writing some more and attending local markets on my way back up to the sunshine coast.
I have house sat before and as recent as September 2016 at Tanawha and October 2015 and then before in 2013 in Twin Waters.
I enjoy looking after animals and love spending time with them. I treat them as my own under the quidelines of each owner of course.
I am tidy neat and quiet. I enjoy the opportunity to practice yoga and became a qualified teacher in 2015 in Canada. I love bushwalking , reading about education and working on promoting the books I have published and writing draughts for future books. I am able to supply references if need so.
I have had a farm background as a child/teenager and have always had animals in my youth. My extensive travel as a teacher these last few years prevents me from having my own, so I would love the opportunity to look after yours.
I look forward to connecting if you feel I would be the right match. Any questions happy to chat.
Andrew

Lindy

Hello,

My name is Lindy. I am 59, an ex-paramedic and policewoman and now a Horticulturist who runs a small gardening business. I own my home in Kiama and have around 9 years experience as a house-sitter in WA and NSW. My plan is to travel more in Australia using Happy House Sitters as a base in different towns.
I am a keen gardener, good with the machinery and have also studied permaculture design with a keen interest in soil biology and composting. I'm an active, single, healthy lady with adult children scattered throughout the country doing their own thing. I'm experienced with dogs, cats and other animals and hope to be the owner of a retired greyhound one day.
I can supply referees from former house sits and am happy to supply either written or verbal contacts.
I'm exceptionally clean, totally reliable, impeccably honest and can be trusted with your life!!
I can supply a Police Check if requested. I do have one however it expired a couple of years ago.

I'm an experienced house sitter and have been house sitting full time now for 5 years mostly on the Sunshine Coast. I have experience with many dogs, small and large and up to 3 at a time, cats, chickens and birds. I have now also had a little experience with small hobby farms which involved feeding and watering horses (1/2) and calves. I enjoy walking the dogs and happy to walk them every day, if required, have also been known to have to walk a cat as well! I also consider myself to be pool and spa trained, I am a bit of a clean freak and will return your home in the same condition that it was when you left and will look after it as though it was my own. In recent years I have been lucky to do an apartment sit in Hiroshima Japan, and a couple of house sits in NZ. I am a non-smoker and am single and have no pets. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
I have house/dog sat for 6 months in Perth Western Australia and Darwin for 2 months and enjoyed every minute of it. I am still on the Sunshine Coast until November when my plan is to go back over to Perth for another 6 months. If you are looking for a house sitter while you have a break over Christmas/new year or school holidays I would love to look after your house and/or pets as though they were my own.

We are two retired guys who own an apartment on the Gold Coast and are renting it out for a year or so to drive around Australia.
We would love to house and/or pet sit for other people on the way while they enjoy their time away.
We have rented houses around NSW and Qld and have always treated them as if they were our own as is testament by the excellent references we have been given by the Property managers, and this is the way we would look after any properties that we are lucky enough to sit.
We have had extensive experience with both domestic animals...cats, dogs, birds etc. after having owned all of these at some stage...one of which is shown in the pic I have uploaded...as well as farm animals whilst owning acreage in NSW and Qld.
We are both extremely clean & tidy people, non smokers and like to ride push bikes, play tennis and go to sporting events like AFL, Rugby League, tennis etc.

About Us!

We are an easy going and fun loving couple who have often been grateful for house sitters ourselves to care for our dogs, reptiles and rats while we have travelled. We have helped others by house and pet sitting and found it emotionally rewarding and fun to travel and experience being 'at home' while being away from home.

We have the opportunity to combine some business with travel and as we took the big step of selling our house after our little 16 and 17 year old Tibetan Spaniels passed away, and now we have lots of love to share with other people's pets.
We do need WiFi when travelling and although we love wildlife and nature, and could cope short term with being away from it all, a good coffee shop nearby is always a benefit :)

Rachel is a huge dog lover, great with cats and loves birds too. John is amazing with Reptiles and fish and lots of other interesting animals. We have had dozens of reptiles ourselves and one of his dreams still is to have a reptile park.

We are both well travelled - I think we've visited about 30 countries now. We've driven across a lot of USA, Europe and UK so we can drive on either side of the road and so road trips across Australia and Overseas are great fun for us :)

We both have Police Clearances and References which we are happy to provide.
