I am a single, fit and healthy 63yr old retired Nurse and part time house cleaner. I am very house proud and would treat your home with the same respect I would my own. I am also an animal lover and lead a lifestyle that promotes this. I have previously volunteered in an animal rescue center caring for a wide variety of animals including, dogs, cats, birds, ducks and many others. I have also volunteered at a rescue center for abused and neglected horses. I enjoy a quite lifestyle and spending time at home which gives me plenty of time to keep your fur babies company. I also have a passion for gardening.
I sold my own home to travel around Asia and am not ready to buy another property at this stage. I thought house sitting would be a wonderful alternative as I have house sat in the past and enjoyed it very much.
I can provide references and a police check.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Update!!! Ross needs a new hip so we had to advise all our pet sits we couldn't sit for them this year. Better to pull out now while they still have loads of time to get new sitters than mid way though a sit. We love what we do! We will be back in action ASAP so watch this space!
Hi, my husband and I are recently retired teachers 62 and 63 who have lived and worked in the same area for 35 years. Of course as teachers we had regular police checks and we can also provide lots of references. After retirement we went to Canada, Hawaii, Far North Queensland and Tasmania. Yes we have caught the travel bug! We also had sits in Queensland, NSW and Tassie and would love a sit in NT, SA, and WA!!
We are friendly, reliable and caring and now that we are retired, our children have grown up and our beloved pets passed away we are rattling around our house with time on our hands. We love animals and always look after all our friends and neighbours pets, houses, gardens and mail when they are away. One of them suggested pet and house sitting as it involves travelling, animals and gardening! As a retired couple we are available for any length of time and we can plan to house sit everywhere in Australia for the next 12 to 24 months after which time we hope our children will provide us with grandchildren to spoil. As my husband Ross is a very keen fisherman we try for locations close to good fishing areas and he takes his fishing boat.
We will take meticulous care of your house, mail, indoor plants, veggie gardens and lovingly look after dogs, cats, birds, fish, chooks, rabbits and guinea pigs. We are more than happy to be in touch with you prior to the pet and house sit and we can also give you updates during your trip so get in touch with us any time to discuss your needs and travel dates as we will try to accommodate our time to suit your needs.
We prefer the northern areas of Australia during the winter months and escaping the cold Victorian winters. Ross is a keen fisherman and gardener, I adore reading and writing and tend to be more of a home body and we both really enjoy seeing new sights and meeting new people. You can leave knowing we will take extremely good care of your pets, house and garden and while you’re away. Ross and I are looking forward to getting to know you and giving your pets our love and attention. Prior to handover we would prefer a written list of your requirements and instructions and of course contact details such as your mobile number and email address. We know the importance of trust in this relationship and can assure you of our honesty and love of animals, in fact we've found the hardest part of pet sitting is saying goodbye to the pets because we grow so fond of them. Luckily for us we have lots of repeat house sits which makes us very happy.

Introduction

We are a mature and friendly retired couple, professional, practical and resilient in new situations, and look forward to new homes and pets to care for. We are non smokers, tidy, active, gardeners, and keen to explore new communities. We have already enjoyed 5 house and pet sits both in Australia and overseas with another organisation in the last year, with excellent references. We appreciate Happy House Sitters because it it has such a range of Australia wide clients, and is easy to access.
We would take care of your home and pets, as we would our own, and keep them safe and happy until you return.

Why we want to house sit

House and pet sitting is appealing because of the built in adventure and novelty of such diverse opportunities. We have enjoyed much travel in Australia and overseas, ship, caravan, camping, coast, desert and bush, but would look forward to the interest of connecting with the everyday life in new communities. Many sits give insight to the places less travelled, rather than big tourism locations, and Mike is a keen historian where ever we are.
0ur creatures are an essential part of life, but the extra additions to the 'family', "step grand-dogs,cats..and one day hopefully, alpacas!!'', will have all the love and care we can give in the allocated time!

What we bring to the assignment / relevant experience

We have lived in city and country, in town houses and on acreages, and had donkeys, dogs, cats, chooks, and sheep! Our experience in education, country and city communities, gardening, house repairs, and dealing with the emergencies of life, makes us useful Sitters! Having a good sense of humor helps too.We have police checks, and house sitting references.
We currently have an old beagle/terrier x, Maggie May, a dear rescue dog, who, as we speak, is snuffling her way through seaweed and beach sand! We love our entertaining chooks, and their produce! Harry the Cat sadly left us after 12 years of slothful existence!
Do contact us if your place and pets seem like a good match!

Available: 2-17/04/18 & 26/05 onwards.
Pref Melbourne area. CBD, Northern & Eastern Suburbs, & Warragul. Will fly/drive anywhere else if costs covered. Pls enquire.

Responsible & trustworthy 33yr old non-smoker. Worldwide housesitting exp, many great references & repeat clientele.
I love having animals around me, especially adore cats and horses, and have a soft spot for well-behaved dogs. I am house-proud, & really enjoy every-day tasks of caring for a home as if it were my own. A scientist, ecologist then yacht-stewardess, I am not quite sure i have finished with travelling the world, but it sure is nice to come home for a while. Housesitting gives me the chance to work out 'where' and 'what' next, whilst saving a little bit for wherever the next adventure might take me. And as an animal lover, whilst my currently-nomadic life doesn't allow for my own pets, I take much pleasure in caring for your much-loved family pets, knowing I am providing them with consistency in their routine and a comfy lap and scritches at their merest hint of the request. I am honest, careful, with a high attention to detail, respectful of your wishes, and have a police check & many references.

*** BACKGROUND: I worked for a number of years as a scientist, saved and bought a townhouse in Melbourne, before deciding to see the world, pursuing my love of nature and animals by participating in various animal volunteer projects in Latin America for two years, then working as a yacht stewardess to supplement further travel throughout Europe. I have been lucky to housesit (and boatsit) caring for many different pets all throughout my travels, which in turn gave me with much-needed animal companionship and a place to care for as if it were my own.

***WHAT I DO: Now I am returning to Australia for a few months to visit my best friend and her new baby (in Warragul) and to exact some repairs upon my (currently tenanted) townhouse (in Glenroy), to work on writing a book, and to study some. I do not intend to work in this short time so I will have heaps of quality time to spend with your pets and be added security presence for your home. I enjoy my own time and quiet space, and am the sort of person who enjoys meditation and yoga, walking through forests, quiet reflection, writing, and cooking fresh and nourishing meals. I do not take drugs, and am a firm NON-smoker who appreciates a smoke-free environment, so please do let me know if you are an inside smoker, so we can determine if this might affect our mutual suitability.

*** CLEAN & TIDY: I am an extremely clean and tidy person, (force of habit from working in the yachting industry) so I appreciate the same in my surroundings. Any effort you make to clean and tidy your home before you go will be returned in-kind as I always leave a home better than how I found it, and with more joy in my heart for doing so when it is obvious you take pride in it too.

*** REGULAR UPDATES: I have used Happy Housesitters in the past when I had to leave my own cat and home, so I totally understand how you feel & will keep you updated via email, facebook, whatsapp or Skype, as frequently as you wish, whilst you are away. The health and happiness of your pet, security of your home, and your peace-of-mind are my top priorities.

*** GREAT REFERENCES: I can provide great references upon request (many of my sits have been overseas and by word-of-mouth, so references have not been sent through the happyhousesitter site, though I have plenty), and am happy to meet either in person if possible or via Skype, before you commit so you can see if I will be the perfect fit for you & your pets.

*** EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE: I have experience with cats, dogs, horses, chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits, goats, fish, and birds.
I am experienced & comfortable with administration of medicines, and small-med farm tasks. Please contact to discuss any requirements.

*** HAPPY, HEALTHY PETS: Finally, I love all animals and seek first and foremost to keep them comfortable and happy, healthy and enjoying life. No request to this end is ever too big or too small.

Kym aged 42 is a builder and horticulturist (can basically fix/make anything) Kylie aged 37 is a beauty therapist and wildlife vollie, Skye aged 11 and Kayla aged 9 are along for the ride and enjoying the experience! We own our own house on a small property in the Adelaide hills.
We are currently travelling north just past Newcastle at the moment. Will be making up way up to QLD soon.

I currently live and work in Melbourne, living in a share household. I house sit as I also enjoy having time to myself. I also love caring for pets. Over the past years I have sat on many occasions with many homeowners asking me back to sit for them.

I will take really good care of your pets. I genuinely enjoy both cats and dogs. I Like taking dogs for walks and offering lots of affection. Same for cats too...except the walking.

Will also take good care of your property and leave it in an excellent condition.

I have excellent references. A police check. I don't smoke.
I am a friendly respectful guy who is very clean and tidy

We are a 'senior' couple (non-smokers) and have recently moved to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland area after having sold our rural property in Tasmania late last year.

In 2017 we became "professional house sitters" and enjoyed the experience very much. However we made the decision to become home owners again late 2017, but this does not mean we have "retired" and will always consider any suitable situations.

We would particularly be interested in discussing our suitability for your needs if you live in the Sydney Northern/Eastern suburbs, Melbourne City suburbs or far North Queensland.

We are practical people and have mostly lived on small acreage properties in Tasmania. We've enjoyed the company of many pets over the years including 2 cats, 2 dogs, a pet sheep, 2 goats (so not 'pet'!) and chickens.

We have had work experience related to housesitting placements when we worked on a remote Pilbara island, and in Coral Bay, WA. Doug was responsible for pool maintenance and general groundsman work, and I did housekeeping duties - and kitchen hand! It was a great experience living on a remote island, and fairly challenging coping with a Pilbara summer. We have also worked in a remote Aboriginal Community in the N.T. Doug was the Essential Services Operator and I looked after the Creche in the morning before changing hats to be the Centrelink Agent/general office admin. person in the afternoon. It was another wonderful opportunity and gave us an insight into the lives of Australia's indigenous people.

During 2017 (our 'gap year') we had the pleasure of meeting several home owners and their pets, and now have experience with managing big, bouncy dogs to the little feisty ones, chooks and cattle.
We can supply excellent references with one home owner declaring we would win a house sitter of the year award - if there was one!
We fully appreciate that making the decision to have people you don't know come to your home and care for your pets, garden and house may be a difficult one. We would like to assure you we would take the time to listen to what is required for your 'loved ones' to remain happy in their home, and would promise to care and respect your property as if it was our own. We are honest and reliable people!

Most recently we had police checks done, which is a requirement for people working for the Australian Electoral Commission in OIC roles at State and Federal Elections, and this we have done on many occasions. We are in the process of obtaining our own police checks. Also police checks were done when working in the N.T. and when I did volunteer work for Vinnies (Airlie Beach) and The Red Cross (South Perth).

Our interests are travel, music (member of a Community Band) quilting, gardening, walking and baking. I love to discover new speciality shops, delis, etc. We enjoy concerts and the theatre.

Below are two references, contact details could be supplied once you have made contact with us, and as we receive new ones we will add them as well.

Thanks for taking the time to read our profile, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Thérèse and Doug Boote.

Hi there :)

We are mature aged professionals with experience in pet & house minding.

We (Steve more particularly) has a variety of experiences in-house & pet sitting that dates back more than 30 years, but more relevant to now & with references attached from more recent times. We think you'll find our credentials are more than a worthy consideration, and in good alignment with your needs. :)

We've had many house sitters stay in the family home over many years looking after the security of our home, caring for the garden, pool and our Pets (dog, cat & cockatiel) whilst we traveled as a family, so we certainly have empathy in what it feels like to trust someone with the keys to your home & pets.

We are active people who love all animals, more particularly dogs & cats; so walking and caring for your dog(s) and sitting with a purring cat is a joy for us. (See testimonials attached)

As you will also see from Steve's profile, he is a 'Mindset Mentor' who does quite a bit of his work from home using his wireless internet and mobile phone. Jasmine does most of her work online too (Essential Oils) so between us, you can expect at least one of us to be there a lot of the time during the day as well, to look after your pet(s) & your home. :)

Feel free to also check us out / connect with us or follow us on my Social Media Platforms or via Steve's website www.SuccessfulLifeResults.com.au -Steve's profile name on most mediums is simple Steve Lyddy (fb), for twitter SteveLyddy (no space) and Jasmine social media platforms are JaXmine Law & Essential Oils with Jazmine

Be happy to answer any other questions you may have and think its best that we Tel or Skype before we meet. If we like what we see or hear from that and are pretty certain that we are a match, than perhaps there maybe an opportunity at some stage to arrange to meet face to face for a chat, perhaps over a coffee or tea.

Warm regards
Steve & Jazmine

Hello, my name is Barb. I am 59 years old, single, and don't smoke or drink. I lead a fairly quiet life, am respectful and reliable and very aware of the sense of responsibility required in caring for someone else's home and pets. I also love gardens and plants so I would also enjoy looking after your garden.
I am a very tidy and clean person who has respect for all environments. This is my first venture into house-sitting so would love the opportunity to prove myself. As I am a pre-school teacher I have a valid teacher registration (which means I have been police checked and thoroughly screened). I am happy to provide personal references. Looking forward to my first sit!!

  • Brisbane, South Eastern, Central, Central Coast (Qld), Northern QLD

I would look after your home and garden and small pets as you would yourself. Having grown up with pets and having a dog as a pet all of my life until recently, I completely understand pets emotional needs as well as their physical needs. I would really enjoy their company again. I am a single retired mature aged woman (retired 18 months ago) and have had previous house sitting experience for 4 months, 6 years ago when I first moved to Brisbane. I am looking for house sitting as an interim solution between the sale of my present home, and buying a new home in approximately 12 months time to save funds regarding renting, and to also experience seeing new areas. I would not be able to cover very short term house sits like a few days to a couple of weeks for instance.
Gardening is my favourite hobby and I maintain my own large garden myself, including mowing the lawn with a push mower, so am a very active person. I grew up and lived on farms until my children all married, then I moved to city living. I take pride in being clean, tidy, honest and reliable in everything I do. I do not have any health problems.
My previous career was as an Assistant Nurse working in Aged Care Facilities, The Cairns Base Hospital, and in Brisbane as an In Home Personal Carer to children with Cerebral Palsy, working through the Cerebral Palsy League of QLD. I currently have an online Marketing Business which I run from home so can go anywhere there is internet access to continue with this. This also means that I am home during the day with your pets. I do not have one of my own now.
I am available from mid March and have my own car. I can supply personal and former work related references upon request. I am happy to organize a Police clearance if required.

We are a retired, married couple who love travelling Australia in our caravan with our NZ Collie dog, Illy.

We own our home in Deception Bay, Queensland, having moved from Tasmania in 2017 where we owned a house on a large block in a semi-rural area. We are well versed in what is required of house/pet sitters as we had housesitters in our home in Tassie when we went on our trips.

We are responsible, non smokers and pet lovers. Between us we have owned and/or cared for large and small dogs, cats, sheep, horses and chooks. Our dog is a 13 year old girl, very quiet and gentle. She gets on well with people and animals and is used to living with poultry (we had backyard free-range chooks) and in close proximity to sheep and cattle. She is respectful of cats also.

We are both fit and able to carry out light gardening, lawnmowing etc. and we would care for your home and animals as we would our own.

This is our first venture into house-sitting so we don't have references from owners, however we could provide references from neighbours whose pets we have cared for when they were on vacation.

  • NSW, QLD, VIC

Hi, we're Paul & Sharon, ex Poms (now Aussie's). Sitters since 2009, now full-time nomads. I work remotely so available for your pets through the day, Sharon is a cleaner so give her a task and you'll find your place cleaner than when you left! Police checks & good references available. 100% response rate, full profile has availability & location.

Hello thanks for looking, I’ll try and keep this brief!

**Setting off on the road camping, sits booked along the way in VIC/QLD, not too much availability until September now when we hope to be in the far North**

We are Paul and Sharon a long-term couple of nomads. Since we emigrated from the UK in 2009 we first got into house-sitting as a way to discover our first home Adelaide and Australian suburbs. We also wanted a pet fix, as we emigrated and hadn’t decided where to settle and at the time it seemed unfair to get animals of our own. Then after three successful years sitting while holding down full-time jobs in Adelaide we decided we wanted to travel Australia more. So once we became full residents and citizens we hit the road in 2013, we have been volunteer ‘Helpx-ing’, business/house-sitting and travelling since.

We are now in our mid 40’s, no kids. Sharon is a cook/cleaner/carer by experience. My background is graphic design. We travel, camp and sleep in our 4wd Troopy when not helping/sitting so we can get to most places easily.

We are now lucky enough to have the opportunity to live, work and travel on the road for the foreseeable future, so we can travel anywhere, we tend to mix our travels with camping, meeting people by volunteering and house sitting. I (Paul) now have a small income from online marketing work connected to my graphic design background, so work remotely for a few hours a day to support our lifestyle. So having the internet is an advantage, but it does mean we have no need to be away from your pets and property to go to work. We are also active and happy to get stuck in exercising pets or working on a property.

We can provide many references form a huge variety of people we have helped, after a break from happy house-sitters we have decided to rejoin now they sell the country as a whole membership package rather than individual areas when we were last members. We can provide lots of references from our previous stint on this site as well as other sites and people we have helped by word of mouth since.

Sharon also ran her own cleaning business in the UK, she has excellent written references from professionals such as doctors and barristers who trusted her with their homes. As such you would find us quite, tidy and respectful of your home, we are mature and responsible as I’m sure our reference would confirm. We also had extensive police checks to gain our Australian residency and now have Australian police checks as part of our citizenship.

We don’t smoke, mainly enjoy sitting in watching a film with some nice food. As well as more traditional pets we also have experience looking after parrots, ferrets, rabbits, snakes, other reptiles and farm animals. We are animal lovers in general and I grew up helping my grandparents who ran boarding kennels in the UK so have heaps of handling experience, we know how to be calm and quiet with animals, at the end of the day we are in their home, so comfort and keeping up the routine is our top priority.

As we are experienced volunteers we are also comfortable helping with any projects you may have ongoing or gardening requirements, we have lots of experience with odd jobs and even running peoples farms and business while away.

Thanks for your time, hope to talk to you about helping to look after your little ones soon. (we reply to all emails) Cheers, Paul & Sharon.

Over the last 30 years we have had many different breeds of dogs and a cat of 20 years who just passed way so your animals will be in very safe hands. Our recent experience with house sitting includes various properties in 3 different states ranging from very a modern town house to a farm house on a large property with an olive grove ,hens etc .
We are non smokers and enjoy the quiet life enjoying a good read and walking. Over the summer we managed a Bed and Breakfast which included meeting quests and cleaning. Owner happy to provide a reference

We are two retired, active, music and food loving schoolteachers with a penchant for travelling and enjoying new experiences. We have been involved in house and pet sitting for many years and in many places throughout Australia and overseas. While we have a home in Adelaide, we enjoy a nomadic lifestyle in our motorhome, which makes it unfair to have pets of our own. Housesitting allows us to indulge our love of animals and over the years we have cared for many dogs, cats, birds, horses, sheep, goats, cattle and the like, with dogs, whether big and boisterous or small and cuddly, being our special love. We are also meticulous in the attention we give to each property, whether it be an apartment, a suburban block or a rural spread. Recent experiences have included a 10 month stint on a Daintree acreage, return visits to a horse property and 3 months caring for two houses in the south of France. As Tony is something of a dab hand at housework and property maintenance and Helen is an expert at quality control, you can rest assured that your property and pets will be cared for as if they are our own. We will happily provide you with contact details for phone referees if required.

We are a retired couple aged 62 & 65, we are originally from the UK but have resided in Australia for 25 years. We lived in Perth for 12 years then relocated to the Pilbara in WA working in Port Hedland, Tom Price and Karratha again for approximately 12 years. I worked as a manager in a valuation office and my husband was a boilermaker. We are both non smokers and have been married for 45 years this year. Since retiring we have been travelling around Australia in our caravan. We have 4 daughters 3 are living in WA the other is in Darwin. We have had pets of our own and sadly miss our kelpie/blue healer who we loved for almost 15 years. Our daughters when younger had an array of pets including fish, Cockatiels , guinea pigs and even a rat so used to all kinds of animals. We are currently in Redland Bay housesitting we are then going to Bowen for 4 weeks then onto Townsville for 6 weeks.

I hope to sit Winter in 2018 in Northern climes so if you have need of a reliable, clean non smoking sitter for your home or pets let me know.Happy to chat by phone or Facetime.

I am a retired University & TAFE Lecturer. I own my home, have a reliable car and since I worked overseas for the last five years I currently have no pets. Previously though I have lived on the land all my life.Have had cows, horses, pigs and all kinds of poultry, fish and house pets. I have had several dogs ,my last was a pure bred blue roan cocker spaniel. I was owner of Serendip Siamese and bred and exhibited Siamese and Foreign White cats. My last lovely cat died at age 17 before I left for work overseas. I am familiar with most farm animals, though not for the past five years while working overseas.
I am a keen gardener and past Secretary of our local Garden Club plus a former committee member of Noorat Residents Association. I have family all around Australia and like to house sit and incorporate brief family visits while sitting interstate.
I am a responsible, honest, caring animal lover, a house proud non smoker & non drinker who loves to read ( addicted to my iPad which has 500 books for me to choose from while I sit for you !). I like winter sitting in northern climes and being home to water my garden in Spring/Summer if possible(so I take only short local-ish sits during this time). I will consider sits in Perth for two/four weeks over Christmas which would allow me to see family and spend some of Xmas day with them.

I am new to this site but have been sitting privately and with Mindahome and have reviews available as an attachment here. As a Teacher I have had a Victorian Police Clearance and Working with Children Check for work- now expired due to retirement). I now have a Federal Police Check Certificate issued by the Australian Federal Police (Australian National Police Check Certificate).
I will care for your home and garden as my own, and your pets with loving care and attention.
Thank you for your consideration.

I have been an owner of dogs for 20 years. I am pet friendly, responsible and reliable. I am of good character and trustworthy both with your home and your pets - something that is very important to me, and I empathise with the decision to have someone in your home taking care of your precious pets. When I go away I have pet sitters come to my home so my dogs are in a safe familiar environment in my absence. I am fit and healthy (non smoker) and am able to walk dogs and maintain a clean house. I will respect your home and your privacy.
My partner is a stock agent. He is very capable with all requisites re the land and animals. He has cats and aviaries and Ollie the cockatoo. He is a real farm gem. He also works as a gardener on a property in the Western District. He is very capable and versatile and can and will turn his hand to anything.
I am interested in house sits by myself, or with Wes, depending on your requirements.
Hope we can assist each other .
