Being house proud we would look after your home with great care.We enjoy a healthy environment, are keen dog walkers along the beach, parks and bush areas and share an interest in gardening, healthy living, the outdoors and food and wine.
My husband and I are retired and currently residing in Geelong, Victoria but love to travel. We love dogs, gardening and are general home-bodies.
We are Paul and Alexander - a young (30+) couple who have recently relocated from Norway to Australia. Paul is Australian, and grew up on the open plains of the Monaro in New South Wales. Alexander is Swedish (also a permanent resident of Australia) and grew up on a small hobby farm surrounded by dense forest in Värmland. Until recently, we were happily living and working in Oslo, Norway - not too far from Alex's family in Sweden. We decided to leave Scandinavia in order to be closer to Paul's family and friends and to travel around Australia. In July of 2016 we embarked on a camping trip, starting in Darwin and taking us through the Red Centre and all the way down to Hobart, via South Australia and Victoria. We have seen some amazing places and our trip and look forward to seeing more of Australia in the coming year. We have our own transport.Paul practised as a Landscape Architect for 3 years in Sydney before moving to Oslo 6 years ago. Paul has a Bachelor degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of New South Wales in Sydney and a Masters' degree in Landscape Architecture from the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. Prior to commencing his full-time professional career, Paul was employed as a Horticultural Labourer at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney and at The Mosman Gardener (a nursery on Sydney's lower north shore). These positions involved regular maintenance and one-off improvement works at properties in suburbs such as Kirribilli, Kurraba Point, Cremorne, Mosman, Clifton Gardens, Seaforth and Balgowlah Heights, in addition to the Lower Garden and Government House at the Royal Botanic Gardens. Paul has, therefore, extensive practical experience maintaining and improving manicured gardens and large publicly accessible grounds. This underpins his 10 years of professional design experience dealing with public and private clients and various stakeholders. Your garden will be in good hands! Alexander is GREAT with dogs, having grown up with several show dogs trained by his mother on their property in Sweden. He is quick to establish rapport and assert authority as appropriate. And, both of us have grown up with cats, so we know they can be both kind and cunning. We are also able to perform extra duties & labour for those small home improvement projects that you’ve been wanting to get done for years, such installing shelving, re-painting the hall, cleaning and oiling of timber decks, intensive weeding, planting a new garden bed, composting, demolition of light structures (a chook shed, for example) and garden beds, light tree pruning, garden edging and much more. Talk to us if you have a project around the house that you’d like done while you are away! We are avid users of AirBnB and have enjoyed staying in private dwellings across Europe, Iceland, North America and Australia. There are 19 reviews of our stays available on Paul's AirBnB profile. These can be collated and made available upon request. A copy of our most recent tenant's reference can also be made available upon request. Non-smokers.

Happily married, and still in love after many years of working together 24/7, we decided to retire early and take the time and opportunity to explore this great Southern land. With our four-legged child, a 6 year old Poodle/Maltese X, we like to spend periods of time in places that please us. We've met fabulous folk and seen wonderful sights on our journey. Now we'd love to learn more about the area in which you live!In our former life we were kitchenware wholesalers and retailers, with a cooking school - where John taught many culinary classes. He is passionate about real food and good nutrition, and continues to cook up a storm on the road! Michele is a qualified dog trainer. All just part and parcel of the house sitting service! With Michele in residence, your pets will enjoy the time out and holiday just as much as you will! We're mature - AND we still know how to have fun! We're energetic, active and interested in everything. Walking every day is important to us, and keeps us all fit. Other than that, we're quite content to stay @ home and enjoy the ambience. Pottering in the garden is always a pleasure - never a chore. We have a travelling, potted herb garden ... essential for the chef! Actually, we're healthier and happier now than ever before. We're non-smokers and we need a smoke-free environment. Hello, we are a married couple in our 50's and both non-smokers. We love dogs and have looked after many in our house sits. We do have our 12.5 year old shih tzu, Baxter, who is very placid, well behaved and trained and gets on very well with all dogs, animals and people, as he is used to the company of all sorts of dogs with our travels. We have been privileged to look after many beautiful homes, gardens and delightful animals in some of Australia's most scenic regions. We are currently on a house sit in NSW till 12th June. Before this, we looked after a beautiful home and gardens in Coffs Harbour, and the house sit prior to this in Brisbane, looking after Kate's home. pool and chickens. Other house sits we have had the privilege over the last year and a half to mind throughout Eastern Australia include a 2 month stay in The Hunter Valley region, minding a home with pool, Balinese water features, mowing the lawns and tending the gardens and vegie patch, the next house sit was in Austinmer NSW for a 6 week period minding the beautiful home, gardens, lawn and pool and their lovely 2 dogs. We have done a 12 day sit in Millicent SA minding a 9 yo deaf German Shepherd on a 5 acre property, where the ride on mower was mastered and the fruit trees tendered. Portland VIC we minded a 5 bedroom Air b&b for 7 weeks, where we looked after Airb&b guests, 2 dogs, 22 sheep and 2 alpacas on 27 acres and gardening and mowing were tended. Then Manly QLD, a 4 bedroom house and pool where extra cleaning, to get house ready for sale was required as well as bring a dormant pool back to sparkling condition. Then on a house sit in Agnes Water on a lovely 5 acre country beach house, where ride on mowing, gardening, pool maintenance and caring for the Rooster and hens was required. As we have owned 10 houses between us, before selling our last one to invest in our business, we have extensive experience with pools and spas, having 6 Pools among our Homes, including two Pools built to our own design and specifications. I am an avid gardener, , light gardening and lawns will be a welcome chore. I like our house always to be meticulously clean, especially bathrooms and floors, as all our houses have always been. John has a background as a Professional Pilot flying for 28 years, 23 of these as an Airline Pilot with Ansett. Hello,I'm Alicia, 25 and studying/working in Melbourne. I grew up on a property in the wombat state forest (central victoria) and have lived in Melbourne for the last few years. I am looking to house-sit while I finish my degree and save some money. I think it will suit me because I like to try new things and be in different places, but also appreciate having a nice place to retreat to. I view this as a good opportunity to experience different areas of Victoria (and Australia if i'm game enough over summer break!). I am a caring and considerate person and would take care of your home with the same level of pride and respect as I would my own. I love animals of all kinds and am excited at the prospect of making some new pet friends. I have a cat called Mogwai (see picture) who I found a few years ago as a kitten living underneath my house. He's a little bit odd, but very well loved. If you have a home that could accommodate one more cool cat, I would love to bring him with me (if not, don't worry! He's got a good home at my Mums house.) I am a good problem solver and a quick learner (and I can follow instructions!), so am confident I would be able to take care of your pets and can handle things in an emergency. I'm pretty fit and stronger than I look (through sheer will most of the time!) and would be able to handle a larger dog too. Where I live at the moment we have a thriving vegie garden and a mish mash of succulents and ferns. I wouldnt say I have a green thumb, but I know how to compost, weed, fertilise, water, prune and mow. I spend a lot of time reading and always always prefer to do it in a nice sunny spot in the garden. I'm home quite often during the day reading or writing for uni and finish work in the early afternoon, so it's rare that I'm out late. When I have free time I like to exercise- jogging, walking, cycling, go to the beach, bake and read. I try to live well and like to keep myself and the place I live healthy. I'm both clean and tidy and am flexible with dates or if you have special requirements for your pets/home care (scheduled walks, cleaning etc). I haven't uploaded references yet as I've only just registered as a house sitter, but they are on their way along with a police check. I am willing to provide additional references or information if required. I really hope to hear from you soon and look forward to looking after your home.
I am a mature single woman looking to house sit preferably in Queensland or Northern NSW. I am a non smoker, non drinker, no drugs, no partying (yes regarded as boring by some!) person who would love the chance to look after your property and animals while you are away. I do hold a current Police Check. May not be able to handle very large dogs if they need to go for walks and they would prefer to walk me instead of the other way around. Quite capable though of throwing a ball etc (if they fetch ball) to give them plenty of exercise. But I would love to have the company of a dog or cat (I love cuddles). Don't mind if I have to look after chooks (would love fresh eggs). Would really like your place if you have wild birds and animals coming near.Wouldn't mind watering gardens, lawns etc. Can do basic weeding and could mow a lawn if not too big. If you have a big lawn I would look to paying someone (yes pay them myself) to do the mowing. After all I am saving on paying rent. I would leave your home as clean and neat as you left it and look after it as if it were my own. I do sew and would like to do so during a house sit so I would need to set up my machine on a table if that is OK with you. I also require internet. Very happy to pay for my own mobile internet if required but I need you to be in an area where I can get reception. If you have wi-fi I am happy to reimburse you for my use.If you are interested in having me as a house sitter please email me with as many details as you can. I would prefer an email telling me about your place before a phone call. It gives me time to take it all in before we speak in person.I have house sat before however it was some years back now. I do have two references which I can make available to you on request. I am now in a better position to do more house sitting than I was some years back and I am really looking forward to doing it again and hopefully on an ongoing basis looking for others to follow on.If you have read down this far I thank you very much and hopefully I suit your needs and I will hear from you soon
I am in a transition stage this year, having put my home in storage at New Year and I'm undertaking full time house sitting while I live in different suburbs and the surrounding areas of Sydney. Eventually I aim to buy an apartment and will either rent it out or live in it. In the last twelve months I sold a business after building it up over twenty years and moved out of a townhouse where I had lived for twelve years. I am undertaking a masters degree by research this year and next so I have a lot of time to stay "in" if required which will suit pet owners. I have been enjoying the house sitting community and it suits my current life of studying and doing much less work.I love animals and, apart from the last 5 years, have had pets of all descriptions most of my life. An inner-city person now, I have lived in different places over the years including by the ocean, on a river and on a farm over twenty years ago and raised animals of all kinds from baby lambs and calves to cats, dogs and birds. I pet sit for friends when they are away and the pets always take to me quickly as I do them. I have worked in the arts and business for twenty five years and now run a small home based business as well as my study which does not require attendance at class. I have grown children who are totally independent and I feel this is my time to explore new ideas and live in new areas. House sitting is a great way to live in new areas and transition to a new home eventually for myself. I am very responsible, a garden and pet lover. I do need to stay within commuting distance of Sydney for study and family.
Hi there! We are Chantal and Roelof, an active, healthy and happy couple in our late twenties who are exploring the world together. At this moment we are travelling in our campervan to Bundaberg to find a job for a few months. After that we are heading downwards to Melbourne, so we would love to look after your house/pets in this region. Our schedule is flexible, making it easy for us to plan our itinerary around your travel needs. We hope you will contact us, but first we tell you a little more about ourselves. We started travelling because we want to get to know the local lives of other people in cities around the world. House sitting provides the perfect setting for this, plus the fact that we love having animals around us. We have lived with - and taken care of - a variety of animals:horses, cats, fish, dogs and chickens. We both enjoy having our own spot and taking care of the place we live in. We are familiar with basic repair and gardening work, are responsible, quiet and clean and love taking care of the pets. Chantal (26) grew up on a small farm and she has always been surrounded by animals. She really loves cats and horses. In 2011 she went to Denmark as an au pair. The family she was staying had three children and a dog. She end up staying there for 9 months and she had an amazing time! She was responsible for the kids and all the housekeeping. After she came back in Holland she took care of a house and pets of acquaintances who were on holiday in South Africa for five weeks (there is a reference from them attached to our profile). When they came back she could afford to rent a house and started living on her own. She owned two cats for several years who she really adored. I (29) grew up in a big family (5 kids!) and we always had a dog and some chickens. The house my parents live in has a big garden and I like to help my father maintain it. At 22 I moved out of my parents house and starting living on my own. So I have been taken care of myself and my household for years now. I have been abroad for half a year in 2008 (Curacao) and I have been travelling quite a lot lately. We both quit our jobs for this trip. We worked full-time for several years and realized there was more for us in life. So we decided to give up all of our possessions and go and see the world together! We already did some house sits in the region of Perth and would like to get to know more of the Australian culture and people. If you are interested, we would love to hear from you in order to set up a phone or Skype call to see if we are the right fit for you or just have a nice coffee and meet! Just send us a message and see.
My name is Kaz, and I am an experienced house/pet sitter. I am 65 years old, non smoker, and love animals - particularly dogs. My last 4 legged companion (Tigger - a retired Greyhound) passed away several years ago. His passing (at the ripe old age of 14) meant I could take on new ventures.I love new places, and looking after furry kids - fishy, feathered kids if necessary!!Having worked in extremely remote communities over a 10 year period, I am organised and adaptable, and would look after your home and pets as I would my own. Up until late 2014, I owned my own home. I sold, in preparation to moving to country NSW in November of 2016. I have been permanently housesitting since 2012. In March of 2014, I closed my landline crystal and mineral business, and moved to selling online. Which means that I work from home. I have my own internet connection, and chose Telstra as my provider, as their coverage is (generally!!) greater.I have a current "Working with Childrens" check - this check has photo ID, plus is far more thorough than a normal police check.I am currently booked for the following dates:17th Feb - 4th March: Wingham.24th March - 13th April: Bathurst, NSW.13th April - 18th April: West Haven, NSW.18th April - 25th April: Lake Cathie, NSW.26th April to 10th June: Toowoomba, Qld14th June - 15th July 2017: Scotts Head, NSW.17th November to 18 December: Port Macquarie, NSW.Some recent feedback from clients:"It is always reassuring to know the dogs can be at home rather than in kennels We were able to enjoy planning the trip and then eventually being away with your great service. The dogs were well cared for and obviously enjoyed your presence very much so we are happy too!! No problem if you use these comments". Joe and Anne, Perth, WA"We were very happy with Kaz. Fergie is a rather strong and dominant rescue dog with a few problems such as separation anxiety and we came back to find her actually better than when we left! So much so, that I have asked Kaz to meet up for a walk with the dog so I can learn from how she handles her! For the first time ever, our cat had not pined and lost weight. The house was neat and tidy and Kaz had go above and beyond in every respect." Carol and Punch, Perth, WA.Referee's contact details available on request.
We are a small family from Holland. Marc, Jody and our little 2 year old daughter Saar. We want to see all of Australia, so we are looking for housesits anywhere. We want to stay in Melbourne until april. However between mid february and beginning of march we are looking for a housesit somewhere else. Who lives outside of Victoria and needs a housesit in that period? Let us know!We love animals, have 2 dogs in Holland, but prefer not to sit dogs here as we want to be able to go for days aways once in a while.Cats are no problem.
Hello. We are a recently retired teaching couple who are active, love animals and nature, and are interested in looking after your home and animals for you while you are away. We have our own home in the Hunter Valley, NSW, where we live with our 3 teenage children who are completing their uni degrees and working. The kids are now old enough to look after themselves and our little dog,and we are looking forward to heading out and seeing Australia. We are non-smokers; love to walk and exercise;are clean and tidy;enjoy tending to gardens and have prior experience with a wide variety of pets. (Sorry but we are fully booked for the rest of 2017) Hi, my husband and I are recently retired teachers 61 and 62 who have lived and worked in the same area for 32 years. Of course as teachers we had regular police checks and we can also provide references. After retirement we went to Canada, Hawaii, Far North Queensland and Tasmania. Yes we have caught the travel bug! We are friendly, reliable and caring and now that our children have grown up and our beloved pets passed away we are rattling around our house with time on our hands. As a retired couple we are available for any length of time and we can plan to house sit everywhere in Australia for the next 12 months to 24 months after which time we hope our children will provide us with grandchildren to spoil. As my husband Ross is a very keen fisherman we try for locations close to good fishing areas. We love animals and we always look after all our friends and neighbours pets, houses, gardens and mail when they are away. One of them suggested pet and house sitting as it involves travelling, animals and gardening! We will take meticulous care of your house, mail, indoor plants, veggie gardens and lovingly look after dogs, cats, birds, fish, chooks, rabbits and guinea pigs. We are more than happy to be in touch with you prior to the pet and house sit and we can also give you updates during your trip so get in touch with us any time to discuss your needs and travel dates as we can accommodate our time to suit your needs. We prefer the northern areas of Australia during the winter months and we are looking forward to a visit to New Zealand in 2018. Ross is a keen fisherman and gardener, I adore reading and writing and tend to be more of a home body and we both really enjoy seeing new sights and meeting new people. You can leave knowing we will take extremely good care of your pets, house and garden and while you’re away. Ross and I are looking forward to getting to know you and giving your pets our love and attention. Prior to handover we would prefer a written list of your requirements and instructions including your mobile number and email address so we can make contact and get to know each other prior to your trip. We know the importance of trust in this relationship and can assure you of our honesty and love of animals, in fact we have found the hardest part of pet sitting is saying goodbye to the pets because we grow so fond of them. Jo and Ross Tanner

Hello. I am a retired, mature (sadly!), married woman looking to do some house sitting. I live with my husband in our own home on the Gold Coast and we currently have a dog and a cat. I am an experienced "pet" person, having had all manor of animals in my home, from mice, birds, fish to cats and dogs. Our own dog (a kelpie) is currently 7 years old and a very crazy young thing, needing lots and lots of exercise. He was supposed to be an outside dog, but somehow that rule hasn't been fully applied! Our cat is almost 4 and is very much busy with chasing the dog around. I am able to garden, clean the pool, look after the house and pets. I am a non smoker. Though I plan to "house sit" usually by myself, there would be times when my husband would join me for a short break. We are both thoroughly house trained! We are planning to formally retire in a few years and I feel that house sitting in different places would help me to get a feel for various districts by living like a local, rather than as a tourist. I am most happy to look after pets and would look after your home well. I have now done many house sits (and many return sits) and can forward names and contact details for these house owners as references. I have a written personal character reference that I can send on to you as well. Hopefully all will tell you how wonderful I am. Oh, and also that I am honest, reliable and trustworthy. You can email me on firstname.lastname@example.org anytime. My preference is for short breaks, up to three weeks or so, and around the ACT or anywhere in NSW. Thanks. Eeva
I am a happy, friendly, 60 year old semi-retired house-sitter who is a fit, non-smoking, mature female; honest, reliable, house and garden proud. I grew up on a farm thus have familiarity, experience, patience and love for animals and pets, having grown up caring for many various pets of my own.I have a passion for gardening and landscaping; I have the time to care for, walk and empathize with your pet/s missing their owner/s while keeping your home safe and as you left it. I have always owned my own homes and worked in responsible professional positions; married for 37 years to an electrician who works away six months of the year, with adult independent children living interstate pursuing professional careers.I will respect your home, garden and beloved pets with the care I show my own. I can supply a Police Check, Working with Children Check (pets are our children!), House Owners and character references when required.I am willing to listen carefully to your instructions, preferences & requirements. Thank-you, Dianne :)
IntroductionWe are a mature and friendly retired couple, professional, practical and resilient in new situations, and look forward to new homes and pets to care for. We are non smokers, tidy, active, gardeners, and keen to explore new communities. We have already enjoyed 5 house and pet sits both in Australia and overseas with another organisation in the last year, with excellent references. We appreciate Happy House Sitters because it it has such a range of Australia wide clients, and is easy to access. We would take care of your home and pets, as we would our own, and keep them safe and happy until you return. Why we want to house sitHouse and pet sitting is appealing because of the built in adventure and novelty of such diverse opportunities. We have enjoyed much travel in Australia and overseas, ship, caravan, camping, coast, desert and bush, but would look forward to the interest of connecting with the everyday life in new communities. Many sits give insight to the places less travelled, rather than big tourism locations, and Mike is a keen historian where ever we are.0ur creatures are an essential part of life, but the extra additions to the 'family', "step grand-dogs,cats..and one day hopefully, alpacas!!'', will have all the love and care we can give in the allocated time! What we bring to the assignment / relevant experienceWe have lived in city and country, in town houses and on acreages, and had donkeys, dogs, cats, chooks, and sheep! Our experience in education, country and city communities, gardening, house repairs, and dealing with the emergencies of life, makes us useful Sitters! Having a good sense of humor helps too.We have police checks, and house sitting references. We currently have an old beagle/terrier x, Maggie May, a dear rescue dog, who, as we speak, is snuffling her way through seaweed and beach sand! We love our entertaining chooks, and their produce! Harry the Cat sadly left us after 12 years of slothful existence! Do contact us if your place and pets seem like a good match!
We are a 'senior' couple (non-smokers) and have recently sold our rural property in Tasmania, and intend to travel throughout Australia (and some overseas travel) during 2017. We will be using this time to make a decision where our next home will be, and looking forward to the opportunities housesitting will give us. We are referring to this time as our "GAP YEAR!" We are practical people and have mostly lived on small acreage properties in Tasmania. We've enjoyed the company of many pets over the years including 2 cats, 2 dogs, a pet sheep, 2 goats (so not 'pet'!) and chickens. We have had work experience related to housesitting placements when we worked on a remote Pilbara island, and in Coral Bay, WA. Doug was responsible for pool maintenance and general groundsman work, and I did housekeeping duties - and kitchen hand! It was a great experience living on a remote island, and fairly challenging coping with a Pilbara summer. We have also worked in a remote Aboriginal Community in the N.T. Doug was the Essential Services Operator and I looked after the Creche in the morning before changing hats to be the Centrelink Agent/general office admin. person in the afternoon. It was another wonderful opportunity and gave us an insight into the lives of Australia's indigenous people. To date we have had the pleasure of meeting a several home owners and their pets, and now have experience with managing big, bouncy dogs to the little feisty ones. We will be out of Australia from 13 May to 11 June, and as at April, have accepted bookings up til the end of October. EDIT:DUE TO CANCELLATION WE ARE NOW AVAILABLE FROM 21 AUGUST TO 21 SEPTEMBER.We are an easily adaptable couple and adjust quickly to new living situations. We prefer acreage properties, but equally enjoy the 'buzz' of big city living, and the convenience of suburban locations, and small rural towns. We fully appreciate that making the decision to have people you don't know come to your home and care for your pets, garden and home may be a difficult one. We would like to assure you we would take the time to listen to what is required for your 'loved ones' to remain happy in their home, and would promise to care and respect your property as if it was our own. We are honest and reliable people! Most recently we had police checks done, which is a requirement for people working for the Australian Electoral Commission in OIC roles at State and Federal Elections, and this we have done on many occasions. We are in the process of obtaining our own police checks. Also police checks were done when working in the N.T. and when I did volunteer work for Vinnies (Airlie Beach) and The Red Cross (South Perth). Our interests are travel, music (member of a Community Band in TAS) quilting, gardening, walking and baking. I love to discover new speciality shops, delis, etc. We enjoy going to concerts, and would look forward to hearing concerts by the MSO, SSO, QSO and ASO for example if possible. Below are two references, contact details could be supplied once you have made contact with us, and as we receive new ones we will add them as well. Thanks for taking the time to read our profile, and we look forward to hearing from you soon.Therese and Doug Boote.
We are a non-smoking, semi-retired, married couple travelling in our caravan . Both come from a farming background in the early years and have had our own home/businesses in WA. Noel is a "jack of all trades" and Phyllis is a registered nurse. We are experienced in house sitting and have house sat in WA, Qld, NSW and Victoria during the last 4 years including looking after all aspects of farms - animals and machinery. Our ethos is to care for your home and animals as if they are our own. We love all types of animals and really appreciate the opportunity to enjoy "little patches of paradise" all around Australia. Police clearances and phone contacts for references on request.
