We are a retired couple who spend a lot of time travelling both domestically and internationally. We also use our caravan around Tasmania. We live in a seaside suburb just south of Hobart and we have a 2 storey house with well maintained gardens and we are both very house proud. We have had dogs and birds in the past but due to our frequent travelling we don’t have any pets at the moment.
I worked with Tasmania Police for 25 years and can provide a Police clearance if required. Jenny worked with the Health Department for 22 years.
We welcome the opportunity to look after your house and pets if required.

  • QLD, Melbourne, Bendigo, North Eastern, North Western, SE Vic, Geelong, Grampians, Otway Ranges/ Great Ocean Rd, WA

We arrived from the States in the 70’s, recruited to teach, and loved it so much we stayed! We are responsible, reliable, non-smokers and will look after your home in the same manner that we have looked after ours.
We have sold our large house (downsizing from 2 hectares to two bedrooms) and are now retired. We are great walkers and love all animals, having had many over the years.
We have house sat in the past (in Ashgrove, Qld. looking after the lovely Lola, two year-old poodle as well as Lucy in Mitchelton and two schnauzers in Fitzgibbon in 2016, 2017 three lovely little dogs in Forest Lake, Gizmo the cat in Carindale and the schnauzers again in Fitzgibbon, all references below). We are happy to be flexible with your dates. We have used house sitters when we have travelled. We understand how invaluable a good house sitter can be. We'd love to look after your precious pets and would treat your house with the respect that we would hope a housesitter would treat ours. Available for Facetime interview if requested. We hope to hear from you at your convenience. Thanks for the opportunity. Mary and Wayne
Police checks, references are available.

Having travelled extensively, we have house, farm and boat sat around the world for years. This has included large and small animal care, from horses to mice and almost everything in-between. Both of us are animal lovers and are experienced horse riders and sailors and my husband, a ‘green-fingered’ gardener.

We intend travelling up / down the east coast of Australia from Melbourne to northern QLD and back (x2) from Jan 2020 to Dec 2022 starting in Melbourne in late Jan 2020. The main reason for this trip is in order for me to capture the countryside etc during our travels, on canvas (I am an artist) and to exhibit the paintings and drawings on our return trip as well as publish a book of said pictures in 2023.

Our time, therefore, is highly flexible and we are prepared to house / farm / equine establishment /pet /livestock sit for both short and long stays.

We are house proud and you can be assured that we will care for your home accordingly. We have a long list of references (all readily contactable) listed here as well as on request if more are required.

Reference: Susie Tapp

To whom it may concern:
I have had the pleasure of knowing Susie Tapp since January 2014
During this time Susie Tapp has had a 12 month lease on a two bedroom Granny Flat on the lower floor of our home.
To the present time, now over 15 months she has proved to be a reliable and very respectful tenant.
Susie has paid her rent without default and we did not hesitate to renew her lease for another 12 months, as she requested.

Most importantly she has maintained our property well. We were able to be absent, knowing that all would be fine.
She is dependable, friendly, kind, and generous, helpful beyond what could be reasonably required.
I therefore have no hesitation in recommending Susie Tapp for whatever position she considers herself qualified to fill.

Yours faithfully,
David Ironside

Tina Aylward & Becca Clark
Maleny, Queensland
23 March 2019

To whom it may concern,
Susie Tapp looked after our home and our three cats during the first week of March, this year, while we holidayed in New South Wales.
When we first met Susie about a month prior to this, we immediately felt comfortable about leaving our home and animals in her capable hands.
At our request, Susie kept in touch with us while we were away, so we were able to check on how our cats were going in our absence.
All our cats are rescue cats who, although friendly, are very cautious of strangers, and they generally take a long time to become comfortable with those they don’t know. One of our cats is particularly nervous and has a habit of not eating when feeling anxious or unsafe.
When we got back after just a week, however, it seems Susie had already managed to create a good relationship with all the cats and had even managed to have them sitting on her lap. They all looked relaxed, well, and cared for on our return.
In addition to taking great care of our cats, Susie also looked after our home, which was spotless on our return.
We will not hesitate to ask Susie to house and pet sit for us again in the future and have, in fact, booked her for three weeks in March next year.

Regards,
Tina & Becca

To whom it may concern:

I am most happy to write this letter in reference to Ms. Susie Tapp’s positive qualities exhibited around our family. Ms. Tapp has established great relationships with those she has visited in Texas throughout the years.

She has developed friendships along the way and has been respectful to all of us that have interacted with her here in the US.

Ms. Tapp is responsible and shows great respect toward the different members of the family.

She has been left in charge of caring and managing the daily aspects of the home with not giving us any reason for concerns.

Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me at my email address:

Thank you for your interest in this matter.

To whom it may concern:

I have known Susie Tapp in the capacity of Housesitter for our bed and breakfast  property at Reesville near Maleny. She has provided this service for us while we were on holiday in February 2019, and is doing so currently while we are overseas for 2 months.

This included full house cleaning, laundering of linens, and preparation for arriving guests. She also was on hand to meet and greet guests and attend to any issues that might arise during their stay.

Susie was entirely professional, well received by guests and scrupulously honest. She has no hesitation in going above and beyond her expected duties to ensure our guests have the best possible experience while staying in our house. She has a very welcoming manner and is very thoughtful, and aware of the need to create the best possible impression when dealing with guests.

In addition she has looked after our pet dog and cat, with genuine affection for them. This included administering medical treatment for our dog, which was done very diligently. We have felt confident to holiday away, knowing our home, business and pets are in caring and capable hands.

I would recommend Susie to anyone needing a responsible and caring housesitter, and happy to provide a verbal reference if required in addition to this testimonial.

Kind regards

Retired couple who have had extensive house sits in Victoria and Queensland.
Good references available and because we are volunteers at our local hospital, we have police checks, as is mandatory for all hospital staff.
Indeed, we have been asked to return sit by hosts on a number of occasions.

We are active in golf and badminton and live a healthy, non smoking lifestyle. Any dog-walking is considered a pleasure, not a chore.
Past hosts have commented positively on the way we have left their home and garden. Importantly, we always turn up on time and have never cancelled a commitment.

Responsible retired couple available to care for your home, domestic pets and garden.

We are a retired couple (non-smokers) from Brisbane with interests in golf, gardening, photography and genealogy. We enjoy road trips, spending time in one place and leisurely exploring an area and community. Since 2014 we have undertaken a number of house-sitting assignments and have found it a rewarding experience. We are always respectful of someone else’s property and possessions, taking care to maintain the property to a high standard.

We have owned dogs, cats and birds in the past and they were always considered an integral part of our family. We would describe ourselves as “animal lovers” and have experience in the care of domestic animals such as feeding, administering medication, grooming and walking.

Past housesitting assignments have involved the maintenance of pools and gardens together with the care of the following furry and feathered family members: (1) a Cavoodle, a Maltese Cross and tabby cat at Robina, Qld; (2) a 9 month old West Highland Terrier at Scarborough, Qld; (3) on 13 occasions (ranging from 1 to 3 weeks duration) 2 Cocker Spaniels (14 and 12 years of age) at Warana, Qld; (4) a 15 year old Birman cat, a 5 year old Cavoodle, a Budgie and 2 fish tanks at Palmview, Qld; (5) on 2 occasions, 2 Samoyeds (13 and 9 years of age) at Peregian Springs/Beach, Qld; (6) 2 Labradors (5 and 2 years of age) at Arundel, Qld; and (7) a 4 year old Turkish Angora cat at Toowoomba, Qld.

ADVENTURES OF “MIKE AND CHARMAINE BLANE”
Hi
Mike and I are both from South Africa, born in Johannesburg and have been married for 39 years. We have a Daughter and Son.
Being an adventurous couple we decided to buy a yacht and go sailing. We moved to the coast of South Africa, Durban to embark on a yacht trip with our two young children to Madagascar for a year.
Since then we owned 3 properties and have the experience of running a home, house maintenance, gardening, looking after our pets, swimming pools etc. We have always worked very hard at this and are very proud of what we achieved.
Last year we decided to immigrate to Australia to be with our son and family which presently live on the Gold Coast.
We arrived in Melbourne October 2018 to wait for our Jack Russel “Bunny” to go through the quarantine process and then took a road trip to the Gold Coast to re unite with our Son, Daughter in law and 2 grandchildren.
We recently received our parents contributory bridging visa which means that we have been granted permission to stay in Australia until our permanent residence is processed.
The adventurous bug bit. We bought a car and caravan and started exploring Australia. We have visited parts of NSW and Queensland and just love Australia. Our jack Russell Bunny has always travelled with us and she is our baby.
We have looked after property in Pumpenbil, New South Wales 3 times for approx. 3 weeks at a time.,
Just recently we looked after a house and 2 cats in Clunes, NSW.
We still want to travel.. We are also are quite happy to stay in our caravan. Our options are open depending on the circumstances. Our dog Bunny would also be with us..
We are very clean , conscientious, quiet people and look after property as if it is our own. We love animals., love the outdoors, nature and also love a barbecue..
Should you require any further information please contact us.

About Us
Our names are Heather & Richard. Heather is an Aussie who has lived in the UK for 30 years, Richard is British. Both of us are retirees. We travel extensively and left our own properties to be looked after by other people, we are well versed in what is required by you as property owners. We are both experienced with animals and aware of their needs. We have three properties between us and they are maintained to a very high level as we both believe that timely maintenance is prudent rather than waiting until a minor problem becomes an issue. With us "in situ", you would have the peace of mind to enjoy your break away, knowing your property and animals are in good hands. We are non-smokers, we are trustworthy and reliable. We both enjoy most sports and intend travelling to Australia for a 6 month period from end of September 2019 to end of March 2020 and as well as taking advantage of spectating at some sporting events, we hope to undertake some house sitting duties along the way in the Sunshine Coast area of QLD where we have family and friends with a view to possibly living there in the future. Available for house sits, 19th November 2019 to 24th January 2020. We both enjoy meeting people and love animals. Heather comes from a farming background and can turn her hand to just about anything. Richard keeps fit and has recently taken up golf, he loves watching F1, cricket and many other sports. Heather enjoys water sports, swimming and keeps fit. Professionally, she has had a Managerial career in employment/recruitment and subsequently after having had her family, went on to run her own Craft importing business for many years. She has also studied horticulture as a mature age student and is a very keen gardener. Until recently she owned a 4.5 acre rural property with Rhea, chickens, sheep and a dog. Richard has had a highly successful career in IT and has traveled the world extensively. Outside of work, he has also had over 40 years experience with horses, which included owing his own stud farm and now, since retirement, is a Board member of UK Arabian horse racing. Richard regularly looks after the property of a close friend who is an Arabian horse racing trainer and breeder in the UK, when the trainer has to go overseas. Both of us a clean and tidy individuals and are non smokers. Heather really enjoys "pottering" and in the past where she has rented or house sat, there has rarely been an occasion where the home or garden in particular, has not been in far better shape when she left than when she arrived!

Dean & Jeanette

  • Brisbane, South Eastern, Northern QLD

We are an Australian couple in our early 50’s who recently were lucky enough to retire early. We visited Mexico in March 2018 and returned in July 2018 on a semi-permanent basis. We visited Merida, Progresso, Tulum, Mahahual, Oaxaca City, Puerto Escondido and Mexico City, to see were our first port of call would be. We decided on Puerto Escondido and we have been loving the lifestyle and people here.

Prior to our retirement we were in Australia working full time, Dean in private schools in IT and Jeanette is an ex Bank Manager, and more recently a Business Systems Trainer in the Healthcare industry. We have a personal reference from a business / personal associate who has known us for over 30 years and we have taken care of their family pets when required.

Jeanette and I have owned our own homes for over 25 years and will treat yours well. Our family home of 17 years was on the Gold Coast had a large inground pool, and we have renovated 5 homes in both Australia and New Zealand. Dean especially is a handy man and would definitely be able to arrange and supervise any works/repairs on your property.

We are generally home bodies of an evening, so we like to do some site seeing during the day occasionally, but would be home each evening for your pets.

Our medium term plans is to head back to Australia in late November 2019, to visit my parents, children, dogs and extended family.

We look forward to speaking further with you and please let me know if you have further questions about us that we haven’t covered off.

We have two dogs back in Australia who are now homed with our sister (Charlie a chocolate toy poodle and Missy a toy poodle cross) we miss them a lot and have lots of love to give your pets.
Missy is our lap dog so we are very used to giving lots of pats and having her sitting on us for hours at a time. Charlie is high energy ball chasing boy, both our dogs like to have walks and playtime everyday. So getting the opportunity of spending time playing with other pets is something we love.

We are relatively new to house sitting, however we have done several in Mexico including travel to Lake Chapala in August 2018 to house sit for a lady with 2 large dogs and have her as a reference available on request. In September 2018 we completed a 3 week house sit in Cuernavaca, caring for 3 dogs and 2 cats. Homeowners are happy to have people contact them for a reference also. Both of these recent sits have been through House Sit Mexico site. Both sits have been great and given us time with great pets and also given us the opportunity to see more of Mexico.
We took a break from housesits from October to March, as this is peak season in Mexico and we had visitors, so spent our time in Puerto Escondido.

We have now completed 2 housesits over April and July 2019, in San Miguel de Allende for a month with a gorgeous long haired chihuahua and Lake Chapala for three weeks with two rescue dogs,

We are currently sitting for a month in Chetumal with two rescue dogs and three cats along with looking after a pool and all animals.

We a love the furry friends and have experience in house care.

We look forward to hearing from you.

23 November 2017 To whom it may concern Re: Monica from Margaret River as house sitter As you are aware leaving one’s home and pets in the care of someone you don’t know is rather daunting, risky and worrying. Monica house sat for us from 2-20 November 2017 and I was delighted with the care she took of our dog and our home. I returned to find a well exercised happy dog, the house looking immaculate, that garden watered, the sheets washed, beds made up with fresh linen, and vases filled with flowers from the garden. I was delighted. I would not hesitate to recommend Monica as a mature, reliable and conscientious house sitter and would be very happy to be contacted to verify this reference. I would also not hesitate to ask her to house sit again if she is available next year. We are a 'senior' couple (non-smokers) and have recently moved to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland area after having sold our rural property in Tasmania late last year.

In 2017 we became "professional house sitters" and enjoyed the experience very much. However we made the decision to become home owners again late 2017, but this does not mean we have "retired" and will always consider any suitable situations.

We would particularly be interested in discussing our suitability for your needs if you live in the Sydney Northern/Eastern suburbs, Melbourne City suburbs or far North Queensland.

We are practical people and have mostly lived on small acreage properties in Tasmania. We've enjoyed the company of many pets over the years including 2 cats, 2 dogs, a pet sheep, 2 goats (so not 'pet'!) and chickens.

We have had work experience related to housesitting placements when we worked on a remote Pilbara island, and in Coral Bay, WA. Doug was responsible for pool maintenance and general groundsman work, and I did housekeeping duties - and kitchen hand! It was a great experience living on a remote island, and fairly challenging coping with a Pilbara summer. We have also worked in a remote Aboriginal Community in the N.T. Doug was the Essential Services Operator and I looked after the Creche in the morning before changing hats to be the Centrelink Agent/general office admin. person in the afternoon. It was another wonderful opportunity and gave us an insight into the lives of Australia's indigenous people.

During 2017 (our 'gap year') we had the pleasure of meeting several home owners and their pets, and now have experience with managing big, bouncy dogs to the little feisty ones, chooks and cattle.
We can supply excellent references with one home owner declaring we would win a house sitter of the year award - if there was one!
We fully appreciate that making the decision to have people you don't know come to your home and care for your pets, garden and house may be a difficult one. We would like to assure you we would take the time to listen to what is required for your 'loved ones' to remain happy in their home, and would promise to care and respect your property as if it was our own. We are honest and reliable people!

Most recently we had police checks done, which is a requirement for people working for the Australian Electoral Commission in OIC roles at State and Federal Elections, and this we have done on many occasions. We are in the process of obtaining our own police checks. Also police checks were done when working in the N.T. and when I did volunteer work for Vinnies (Airlie Beach) and The Red Cross (South Perth).

Our interests are travel, music (member of a Community Band) quilting, gardening, walking and baking. I love to discover new speciality shops, delis, etc. We enjoy concerts and the theatre.

Below are two references, contact details could be supplied once you have made contact with us, and as we receive new ones we will add them as well.

Thanks for taking the time to read our profile, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Thérèse and Doug Boote.

I have been an owner of dogs for 20 years. I am pet friendly, responsible and reliable. I am of good character and trustworthy both with your home and your pets - something that is very important to me, and I empathise with the decision to have someone in your home taking care of your precious pets. When I go away I have pet sitters come to my home so my dogs are in a safe familiar environment in my absence. I am fit and healthy (non smoker) and am able to walk dogs and maintain a clean house. I will respect your home and your privacy. My partner is a stock agent. He is very capable with all requisites re the land and animals. He has cats and aviaries and Ollie the cockatoo. He is a real farm gem. He also works as a gardener on a property in the Western District. He is very capable and versatile and can and will turn his hand to anything. I am interested in house sits by myself, or with Wes, depending on your requirements. I do have references on this site, from previous happy pet owners. Hope we can assist each other ..

We are experienced Aussie housesitters, retired accountant and agricultural scientist, grey nomads, non smokers, and both dog and cat lovers, having owned our own pets all our lives, and looked after numerous and various animals as housesitters for other homeowners, like yourselves. My husband and I were introduced to the concept of housesitting when we retired in July 2005. Since then, we have combined travel with housesitting in Australia, New Zealand, England and Europe and made lifelong friends along the way. So far, we have undertaken 120+ housesits over the past 14 years since retiring from full time employment. For ourselves during the course of our life, we have owned large dogs; boxers and german shepherds – all obedience trained - also cats, fish and poultry. We both retired from our jobs in the Northern Territory and sold our home, with a swimming pool, owned for 20 years. We plan on continuing to travel whilst we are healthy and until we get the travel bug out of our system. Our motto is to treat your home and pets as we would expect our own home and pets to be treated - with respect, love and care.
I was born and bred on a farm in South Australia, lived there for 21 years before moving to the Northern Territory, where my working life continued as an accountant. My husband is a Queenslander, and worked as an agricultural scientist in 2 Australian states, during the course of his working career.
We can provide written references, photos and police clearances, if you require further info. – but basically, we are just ‘grey nomads’ – enjoying retirement and travelling around England, Europe and Australia whilst we still have our health and are able to travel. Thanks for your time

Hi,my husband and I are retired teachers 63 and 64 who have lived and worked in the same area for 36 years. Of course as teachers we had regular police checks and we can also provide lots of references. After retirement we went to Canada, Hawaii, Far North Queensland and Tasmania. Yes, we've caught the travel bug! We've had sits in Far North Queensland, NSW, Vic and Tassie. We would like a sit in WA. SA.or NT but you would need to give us plenty of notice so we can organise our travel details.
We are friendly, reliable and caring and now that we are retired, our children have grown up and our beloved pets passed away we are rattling around our house with time on our hands. We love animals and always look after all our friends and neighbours pets, houses, gardens and mail when they are away. One of them suggested pet and house sitting as it involves travelling, animals and gardening! As a retired couple we are available for any length of time and we can plan to house sit everywhere in Australia for the next 12 to 24 months after which time we hope our children will provide us with grandchildren to spoil. As my husband Ross is a very keen fisherman we try for locations close to good fishing areas and we need room for his fishing boat.
We will take meticulous care of your house, mail, indoor plants, veggie gardens and lovingly look after dogs, cats, birds, fish, chooks, rabbits and guinea pigs. We are more than happy to be in touch with you prior to the pet and house sit and we can also give you updates during your trip so get in touch with us any time to discuss your needs and travel dates as we will try to accommodate our time to suit your needs.
We prefer the northern areas of Australia during the winter months and escaping the cold Victorian winters. Ross is a keen fisherman and gardener, I adore reading and writing and tend to be more of a home body and we both really enjoy seeing new sights and meeting new people. You can leave knowing we will take extremely good care of your pets, house and garden and while you’re away. Ross and I are looking forward to getting to know you and giving your pets our love and attention. Prior to handover we would prefer a written list of your requirements and instructions and of course contact details such as your mobile number and email address. We know the importance of trust in this relationship and can assure you of our honesty and love of animals, in fact we've found the hardest part of pet sitting is saying goodbye to the pets because we grow so fond of them. Luckily for us we have lots of repeat house sits which makes us very happy.

I am a happy, friendly, 63 year old semi-retired house-sitter who is a fit, non-smoking, mature female; honest, reliable, house and garden proud. I grew up on a farm thus have familiarity, experience, patience and love for animals and pets, having grown up caring for many various pets of my own.
I have a passion for gardening and landscaping; I have the time to care for, walk and empathize with your pet/s missing their owner/s while keeping your home safe and as you left it. I have always owned my own homes and worked in responsible professional positions; married for 40 years to an electrician who works away six months of the year, with adult independent children living interstate pursuing professional careers.
I will respect your home, garden and beloved pets with the care I show my own. I can supply a Police Check, Working with Children Check (pets are our children!), House Owners and character references when required.
I am willing to listen carefully to your instructions, preferences & requirements. Thank-you, Dianne :)

Hi, We are a couple 69 and 63. We have recently retired and have already done a number of house sits on Magnetic island and in the Brisbane area also as far south as Port Macquarie. We have enjoyed it immensely, we now would like to get more into house sitting to see more of this wonderful country. Our house sitting preference at this time would be Queensland or Northern NSW, however we are looking at all states.
We have lived in our own house in Coffs Harbour for 40 years. We are a very stable couple who pride ourselves on looking after other peoples houses and animals the same as we look after our own.
Although we have not had any dogs or cats at home we do have quite a bit of experience with animals, looking after many different kinds during the house sitting jobs that we have previously done. Spencer has also worked at an animal park for 40 years.
We have bred birds as a hobby for the last 10 years.
We are sure your house and animals would be in good hands with us looking after it while you are away.
We are both non-smokers and enjoy the outdoors. References are available.
Please call us to discuss any needs you may have.

Hi my name is Carolyn and we have over six years of full- time house sitting experience. We are non-smokers, clean and tidy, looking for long term house sitting jobs, preferably around Brisbane. I have owned homes for 30 years and understand how home owners expect their home to be looked after, pools included. Derek and I have lived with pets for 30 years, goats, chooks, dogs, horses etc. We have lived in inner city, on large farms, small acreage and overseas. We currently have home based businesses and work mostly from home. We have also been involved in a gardening and maintenance business, so feel very comfortable with looking after gardens and odd jobs around your property. Hi, I'm Dan. I'm a 35 year old honest, reliable, homebody who loves dogs.

I began house sitting and dog minding four years ago, when I looked after a beautiful labrador for two months while her owners were overseas. After a few years of house sitting occasionally, I began doing this full time in August 2016 and am loving being able to spend time with some fun dogs and having the freedom to live a more relaxed, healthy lifestyle.

I'm experienced with a range of small to large breeds - from Chihuahuas to Great Danes - through my house sitting and volunteering at the RSPCA kennels. I will happily give your dog plenty of love and attention - I love going for long walks, playing games like tug-of-war, giving lots of pats, snuggling on the couch and I don't mind having dogs sleep on my bed if that's what they're used to.

I'm mature, clean and tidy, and am a non-smoker. I'm not much of a party animal, and prefer quiet nights at home catching up on my favourite TV shows or working on my laptop.

I'm able to provide a police check and references from previous house sits. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions, I'm happy to answer them!
