  • ACT, NSW, Alice Springs, Darwin, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC

We are two retired, active, music and food loving schoolteachers with a penchant for travelling and enjoying new experiences. We have been involved in house and pet sitting for many years and in many places throughout Australia and overseas. While we have a home in Adelaide, we enjoy a nomadic lifestyle in our motorhome, which makes it unfair to have pets of our own. Housesitting allows us to indulge our love of animals and over the years we have cared for many dogs, cats, birds, horses, sheep, goats, cattle and the like, with dogs, whether big and boisterous or small and cuddly, being our special love. We are certainly respectful, house-proud sitters, with Tony being a dab hand at housework and gardening while Helen is something of an expert at quality control, and you can rest assured that your property and pets will be cared for as if they are our own. We will happily provide you with contact details for phone referees if required.

We are a couple in our early 60’s – recently retired who enthusiastically enjoy house sitting because it allows us to provide a valuable personalized service to home owners. Nothing gives us more pleasure than making home owners feel comfortable with being away from home, knowing their house is in good hands until the owner's return. We're very grateful to all our wonderful clients for the opportunities they have granted us through inviting us into their homes and lives. We receive trust, and in exchange, we provide loving care. We are non-smokers who are honest, reliable and dependable house sitters who will respect your property and personal things. Our background was in education. We have owned a home and are fully conscious of the care and security needed in keeping a house (including a pool) maintained. Also we have had pets that lived very long comfortable lives because we treated them as part of our family. We will care for your pets as if they were part of our own family. We have had experience in house/pet sitting before and we have references available on request.

We have been privileged to look after many beautiful homes, gardens and delightful animals in some of Australia's most scenic regions. We are currently on a house sit in NSW till 12th June. Before this, we looked after a beautiful home and gardens in Coffs Harbour, and the house sit prior to this in Brisbane, looking after Kate's home. pool and chickens. Before this, we were on a house sit near Tannum Sands, Gladstone up until Christmas, where we minded their beautiful Golden Retriever Gypsey and lovely Home, pool, Spa & Gardens. Before this, we finished a house sit in Bright Vic, looking after designer ducks and chickens and a Berkshire pig. Before this, Rosebud Victoria, minding a 10 yo Maltese/Shih Tzu, Molly. Other house sits we have had the privilege over the last year and a half to mind throughout Eastern Australia include a 2 month stay in The Hunter Valley region, minding a home with pool, Balinese water features, mowing the lawns and tending the gardens and vegie patch, the next house sit was in Austinmer NSW for a 6 week period minding the beautiful home, gardens, lawn and pool and their lovely 2 dogs. We have done a 12 day sit in Millicent SA minding a 9 yo deaf German Shepherd on a 5 acre property, where the ride on mower was mastered and the fruit trees tendered. Portland VIC we minded a 5 bedroom Air b&b for 7 weeks, where we looked after Airb&b guests, 2 dogs, 22 sheep and 2 alpacas on 27 acres and gardening and mowing were tended. Then Manly QLD, a 4 bedroom house and pool where extra cleaning, to get house ready for sale was required as well as bring a dormant pool back to sparkling condition. Then on a house sit in Agnes Water on a lovely 5 acre country beach house, where ride on mowing, gardening, pool maintenance and caring for the Rooster and hens was required.
As we have owned 10 houses between us, before selling our last one to invest in our business, we have extensive experience with pools and spas, having 6 Pools among our Homes, including two Pools built to our own design and specifications. I am an avid gardener, , light gardening and lawns will be a welcome chore.
I like our house always to be meticulously clean, especially bathrooms and floors, as all our houses have always been.

I am a very fit, non smoking, healthy, happy 53 year old female with a good sense of humour. I would very much appreciate you giving me a chance to prove my excellent reputation as a reliable, neat, tidy, respected and sought after sitter. Having lived on rural properties, I am well aware of the attention and care pets and animals require. I have always been the gardener at the property and quite happy pushing a lawnmower or using a shovel, so would be happy doing odd jobs to earn some petrol money if you have anything for me to tackle. I am very willing to walk pets as walking has become part of my days routine. I have five children who no longer live at home or require my taxi services so am very keen to seek a new way of seeing different parts of Australia, and this seems like an incredible way of achieving it. I am still very active and walk and ride regularly and enjoy swimming in a pool and at the beach. Having five children has made me a good time manager and very aware of routine, and I would consider myself very capable, confident and could be trusted to take great care of your property and animals. I have a good reliable car and enjoy driving. I also have a current police check. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have and sincerely hope to hear from you soon. I now have fabulous references available from extremely happy home owners.Thanks. Frommy

We are on the road to retirement & looking forward to the next stage in our life, we are still doing some work via the internet & this means that we will be around for most of the time to care & watch over everything for you.

As well as travelling & having new experiences along the way, we have found that house sitting really suits us as it is so comforting to stay in a friendly home environment & if there are pets or animals to look after, then their company is an added bonus!

We love animals & wildlife & have had a long experience in caring for dogs, cats & farm animals. Unfortunately we no longer have our own pets, so we would welcome the opportunity to care for yours.

Over the years we have also had extensive experience in house & garden maintenance having renovated our own properties & also as sitters, we have cared for a number of different types of homes & properties ranging from large farms through to smaller homes & units.

We do understand that everyone's house & pets are different & we seriously take this on board & listen to each individuals requests & we will follow through with meeting your specific requirements while we stay & promise to keep you updated while you are away.

The opportunity to become your house sitter would be a great privilege & something we would not take for granted, as we both understand it is a necessity to respect your house & property & keep it well maintained while in residence.

We are both non smokers, healthy & happy people & look forward to hearing from you.

If required we can provide further reputable references & recommendation contacts.

Hope to hear from you !

Susie & Gary

Hi my name is Helen. I am 65 years young, single, adventurous and inspired by nature.

I left full time employment in Sydney in 2012 for a tree change and for the last three years have taken casual housekeeping positions in places such as the Kimberley and Kangaroo Island. Since March 2016 I have been travelling full time in my motorhome.

I have joined Happy House Sitters to visit many new places as I travel around Australia and to provide an opportunity to settle into a new environment for a short while.

As a home owner myself I understand your need for a reliable, respectful, responsible sitter. As an animal lover I guarantee the best possible care and attention for your pets. I have experience as both a house and pet sitter over many years and references are available. I also enjoy gardening and would be happy to care for yours. If you are involved in any voluntary work in the community I would be happy to step into your place, if needed, while you are away. I am an independent, resourceful woman who is happy with her own company. I love animals, enjoy spinning wool and creating garments, reading, photography, bush walking. I am a non smoker.

I am a happy, friendly, 60 year old semi-retired house-sitter who is a fit, non-smoking, mature female; honest, reliable, house and garden proud. I grew up on a farm thus have familiarity, experience, patience and love for animals and pets, having grown up caring for many various pets of my own.

I have a passion for gardening and landscaping; I have the time to care for, walk and empathize with your pet/s missing their owner/s while keeping your home safe and as you left it. I have always owned my own homes and worked in responsible professional positions; married for 37 years to an electrician who works away six months of the year, with adult independent children living interstate pursuing professional careers.

I will respect your home, garden and beloved pets with the care I show my own. I can supply a Police Check, Working with Children Check (pets are our children!), House Owners and character references when required.

We are a mature couple (68 and 72 year olds) non drinkers and non smokers. Fit and able to do garden and walk pet. We like to ride our bikes to explore whatever region we may visit.
The idea is to head north each year to escape the southern winters.

Tara & Richard

  • South Coast, Far South West, Murray & Riverina, Snowy MTS, Southern Tablelands, SA, VIC

Hi! My name is Tara and my husband is Richard. I'm an Australian. Rich is American.

We were homeowners in the U.S. For 20+ years and in 2012, sold everything and moved (home) to Australia. We've been in Sydney now for 3 years. In February (2017) we will be travelling full time once our 'nest' empties. Our daughter is off to Uni, so it's on to our next chapter as well. Our home base is wherever our daughter is, otherwise it's wherever we are at the moment.

We're slowly traveling the world, one house sit at a time.

I'm a writer (both fictional and travel blogger) and Rich is my trusty editor, driver and sanity saver (aka right hand.).

We have reputation of being fastideously clean, very responsible and extremely reliable. We have been owners of cats, dogs, fish, frog, chickens, cows, sheep and geese. I grew up on a farm in the Upper Hunter Valley of N.S.W., and I would be remiss to say that all of our animals were very spoiled. As for my husband, his husband's nickname is 'St.Francis'. I have no chance when it comes to being the favourite with pets...I'm simply the one to bring their food & water. =)

We look forward to treating your home with the utmost respect and spoil your pets as if they were our own.

We're excited about the opportunity to housesit. As full time travellers, we'd like to 'give back' as it were and allow others to travel as well, without having to worry about their house and pets (we know how that is having had a house and animals previously). Since we are travelling full time, we like the idea of being somewhere for more than a day or two, to immerse ourselves into the areas we stay. We also like the idea of slow travel, having a bed to sleep in (that is not our campervan) and be able to be somewhere where we can write and work without having to do all that at a picnic table or in a coffee shop.

Most of all, we're looking forward to getting our pet fix. Having had animals all our lives, it's been a hard adjustment not having pets since moving (back) to Australia.

Hi there, I'm a semi retired 50 something male (non smoker) who looks after people's pets and homes. I have had many happy clients, including lots of dogs and cats and horses and cows (see pics); I'm sure their owners are happy too.

I have many references from pet owners who you can speak to; including police personnel, doctors and business owners, so you can check my bona fides.

I have much rural experience and I'm rather handy with tractors, diggers, ride on lawn mowers, chainsaws and the like. Homes in my care have varied from farms to cute cottages to executive palaces and high security homes.

My preferences are northern rivers of NSW / sthn Queensland and the greater Sydney area. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks :)

Available from 19 November 2014.

Benjamin & Casey

  • ACT, NSW, Alice Springs, Darwin, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC, WA

Benjamin (32), Casey (32) and Willem (3) are a small family based in Melbourne. Benjamin is a postgraduate research student in international relations at the University of Melbourne and Casey is a full-time visual artist, specialising in ink paintings. We are a healthy-living and non-smoking family, that love to travel, enjoy nature and the great outdoors, and getting active (exercising, hiking and exploring.)

In 2017, Benjamin is writing a thesis on Australia-Japan relations, and Casey is further developing her business and profile as an artist. This flexibility to work from any location will enable them to spend some time travelling amongst exhibition/research commitments.

Benjamin and Casey have both grown up around dogs, with Benjamin's family home never having less than 2-3 dogs at a time, and Casey growing up with a mixture of cats, dogs and horses. They have both grown up on semi-rural properties, and Benjamin also spent childhood holidays on the family farm near Esperance, tending to sheep, lambs and farm dogs.

Together, they have had experience house-sitting in city apartments, suburban homes and rural farms, happily adapting to the tasks and responsibilities unique to each. Whether it is caring for pets or tending to gardens and swimming pools, they take pride in maintaining the houses and properties they are entrusted with, and caring for furry friends! Willem has relished in these opportunities too. References are available upon request.

I have been an owner of dogs for 20 years. I am pet friendly, responsible and reliable. I am of good character and trustworthy both with your home and your pets - something that is very important to me, and I empathise with the decision to have someone in your home taking care of your precious pets. When I go away I have pet sitters come to my home so my dogs are in a safe familiar environment in my absence. I am fit and healthy (non smoker) and am able to walk dogs and maintain a clean house. I will respect your home and your privacy.
My partner is a stock agent. He is very capable with all requisites re the land and animals. He has cats and aviaries and Ollie the cockatoo. He is a real farm gem. He also works as a gardener on a property in the Western District. He is very capable and versatile and can and will turn his hand to anything.
I am interested in house sits by myself, or with Wes, depending on your requirements.
Hope we can assist each other .

We are early retirees who began our house-sitting in early December 2016. Prior to that we were house-sitting my sister's house in Cairns & decided we would like to experience lots of different areas of Australia as residents rather than as tourists.
The animals we enjoy and have experience with are dogs, cats, guinea pigs, chooks and birds. However since our elderly dog died in December 2012, we have not taken on any new pets, as we retired shortly afterwards and took to some short-term travelling.
We are clean and tidy and are both non-smokers and non-drinkers. My husband is a keen runner and pushbike rider and I enjoy long walks.
We can provide references if requested.

  • ACT, NSW, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC, WA

I am in a transition stage this year, having put my home in storage at New Year and I'm undertaking full time house sitting while I live in different suburbs and the surrounding areas of Sydney. Eventually I aim to buy an apartment and will either rent it out or live in it. In the last twelve months I sold a business after building it up over twenty years and moved out of a townhouse where I had lived for twelve years. I am undertaking a masters degree by research this year and next so I have a lot of time to stay "in" if required which will suit pet owners. I have been enjoying the house sitting community and it suits my current life of studying and doing much less work.

I love animals and, apart from the last 5 years, have had pets of all descriptions most of my life. An inner-city person now, I have lived in different places over the years including by the ocean, on a river and on a farm over twenty years ago and raised animals of all kinds from baby lambs and calves to cats, dogs and birds. I pet sit for friends when they are away and the pets always take to me quickly as I do them.

I have worked in the arts and business for twenty five years and now run a small home based business as well as my study which does not require attendance at class. I have grown children who are totally independent and I feel this is my time to explore new ideas and live in new areas. House sitting is a great way to live in new areas and transition to a new home eventually for myself. I am very responsible, a garden and pet lover. I do need to stay within commuting distance of Sydney for study and family.

Kaz

  • ACT, NSW, Alice Springs, Darwin, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC

My name is Kaz, and I am an experienced house/pet sitter. I am 65 years old, non smoker, and love animals - particularly dogs. My last 4 legged companion (Tigger - a retired Greyhound) passed away several years ago. His passing (at the ripe old age of 14) meant I could take on new ventures.

I love new places, and looking after furry kids - fishy, feathered kids if necessary!!

Having worked in extremely remote communities over a 10 year period, I am organised and adaptable, and would look after your home and pets as I would my own. Up until late 2014, I owned my own home. I sold, in preparation to moving to country NSW in November of 2016. I have been permanently housesitting since 2012.

In March of 2014, I closed my landline crystal and mineral business, and moved to selling online. Which means that I work from home. I have my own internet connection, and chose Telstra as my provider, as their coverage is (generally!!) greater.

I have a current "Working with Childrens" check - this check has photo ID, plus is far more thorough than a normal police check.

I am currently booked for the following dates:

17th Feb - 4th March: Wingham.
24th March - 13th April: Bathurst, NSW.
13th April - 18th April: West Haven, NSW.
18th April - 25th April: Lake Cathie, NSW.
26th April to 10th June: Toowoomba, Qld
14th June - 15th July 2017: Scotts Head, NSW.
17th November to 18 December: Port Macquarie, NSW.

Some recent feedback from clients:

"It is always reassuring to know the dogs can be at home rather than in kennels We were able to enjoy planning the trip and then eventually being away with your great service. The dogs were well cared for and obviously enjoyed your presence very much so we are happy too!! No problem if you use these comments". Joe and Anne, Perth, WA

"We were very happy with Kaz. Fergie is a rather strong and dominant rescue dog with a few problems such as separation anxiety and we came back to find her actually better than when we left! So much so, that I have asked Kaz to meet up for a walk with the dog so I can learn from how she handles her!

For the first time ever, our cat had not pined and lost weight. The house was neat and tidy and Kaz had go above and beyond in every respect." Carol and Punch, Perth, WA.

Introduction

We are a mature and friendly retired couple, professional, practical and resilient in new situations, and look forward to new homes and pets to care for. We are non smokers, tidy, active, gardeners, and keen to explore new communities. We have already enjoyed 5 house and pet sits both in Australia and overseas with another organisation in the last year, with excellent references. We appreciate Happy House Sitters because it it has such a range of Australia wide clients, and is easy to access.
We would take care of your home and pets, as we would our own, and keep them safe and happy until you return.

Why we want to house sit

House and pet sitting is appealing because of the built in adventure and novelty of such diverse opportunities. We have enjoyed much travel in Australia and overseas, ship, caravan, camping, coast, desert and bush, but would look forward to the interest of connecting with the everyday life in new communities. Many sits give insight to the places less travelled, rather than big tourism locations, and Mike is a keen historian where ever we are.
0ur creatures are an essential part of life, but the extra additions to the 'family', "step grand-dogs,cats..and one day hopefully, alpacas!!'', will have all the love and care we can give in the allocated time!

What we bring to the assignment / relevant experience

We have lived in city and country, in town houses and on acreages, and had donkeys, dogs, cats, chooks, and sheep! Our experience in education, country and city communities, gardening, house repairs, and dealing with the emergencies of life, makes us useful Sitters! Having a good sense of humor helps too.We have police checks, and house sitting references.
We currently have an old beagle/terrier x, Maggie May, a dear rescue dog, who, as we speak, is snuffling her way through seaweed and beach sand! We love our entertaining chooks, and their produce! Harry the Cat sadly left us after 12 years of slothful existence!
Do contact us if your place and pets seem like a good match!
