Hello. I am a retired, mature (sadly!), married woman looking to do some house sitting. I live with my husband in our own home on the Gold Coast and we currently have a dog and a cat. I am an experienced "pet" person, having had all manor of animals in my home, from mice, birds, fish to cats and dogs. Our own dog (a kelpie) is currently 7 years old and a very crazy young thing, needing lots and lots of exercise. He was supposed to be an outside dog, but somehow that rule hasn't been fully applied! Our cat is almost 4 and is very much busy with chasing the dog around. I am able to garden, clean the pool, look after the house and pets. I am a non smoker. Though I plan to "house sit" usually by myself, there would be times when my husband would join me for a short break. We are both thoroughly house trained! We are planning to formally retire in a few years and I feel that house sitting in different places would help me to get a feel for various districts by living like a local, rather than as a tourist. I am most happy to look after pets and would look after your home well. I have now done many house sits (and many return sits) and can forward names and contact details for these house owners as references. I have a written personal character reference that I can send on to you as well. Hopefully all will tell you how wonderful I am. Oh, and also that I am honest, reliable and trustworthy. You can email me on email@example.com anytime. My preference is for short breaks, up to three weeks or so, and around the ACT or anywhere in NSW. Thanks. Eeva
We are two retired, active, music and food loving schoolteachers with a penchant for travelling and enjoying new experiences. We have been involved in house and pet sitting for many years and in many places throughout Australia and overseas. While we have a home in Adelaide, we enjoy a nomadic lifestyle in our motorhome, which makes it unfair to have pets of our own. Housesitting allows us to indulge our love of animals and over the years we have cared for many dogs, cats, birds, horses, sheep, goats, cattle and the like, with dogs, whether big and boisterous or small and cuddly, being our special love. We are certainly respectful, house-proud sitters, with Tony being a dab hand at housework and gardening while Helen is something of an expert at quality control, and you can rest assured that your property and pets will be cared for as if they are our own. We will happily provide you with contact details for phone referees if required.
Mature married couple, home owners in Elwood Vic, non smokers. We love the company of animals and have lived with dogs for over 40 years. Gemalla (Schnauzer) and Katielina (Airedale) are our mature, friendly and very well trained mates and would like to travel/holiday with us although it's not a pre-requisite.We love all animals and believe that we would enjoy looking after your pets and care for them like our own. Being house proud we would look after your home with great care.We enjoy a healthy environment, are keen dog walkers along the beach, parks and bush areas and share an interest in gardening, healthy living, the outdoors and food and wine.
Responsible retired couple available to care for your home, domestic pets and garden. We are a retired couple (non-smokers) from Brisbane with interests in golf, gardening, photography and genealogy. We enjoy road trips, spending time in one place and leisurely exploring an area and community. Since 2014 we have undertaken a number of house-sitting assignments and are always respectful of someone else’s property and possessions, taking care to maintain the property to a high standard. We have owned dogs, cats and birds in the past and they were always considered an integral part of our family. We would describe ourselves as “animal lovers” and have experience in the care of domestic animals such as feeding, administering medication, grooming and walking. We would feel privileged to be given the opportunity to take care of your pets and property.
Two very quiet mature non smoking, non party, women who love classical music, and our beloved 11 year old Lab/staffy boy who is a quiet gentleman, and an inside dog, he travels with us now since we have stopped travelling overseas, we promised him we would never leave again. We have been house sitters over the years and locum managers for B&Bs, self catering cottages and small farms. We would now like to pet/house sit for other people. After lots of travelling during which we have had special people look after our beloved boy, we could enjoy our trips, we would now like to help others to enjoy their travels. Our beloved boy gets on with dogs, cats, chickens, sheep and horses and of course loves people. References can be supplied, and our police check is up to date Do you need us? We would be very pleased to help you enjoy your adventures.
(Sorry but we are fully booked for the rest of 2017) Hi, my husband and I are recently retired teachers 61 and 62 who have lived and worked in the same area for 32 years. Of course as teachers we had regular police checks and we can also provide references. After retirement we went to Canada, Hawaii, Far North Queensland and Tasmania. Yes we have caught the travel bug! We are friendly, reliable and caring and now that our children have grown up and our beloved pets passed away we are rattling around our house with time on our hands. As a retired couple we are available for any length of time and we can plan to house sit everywhere in Australia for the next 12 months to 24 months after which time we hope our children will provide us with grandchildren to spoil. As my husband Ross is a very keen fisherman we try for locations close to good fishing areas. We love animals and we always look after all our friends and neighbours pets, houses, gardens and mail when they are away. One of them suggested pet and house sitting as it involves travelling, animals and gardening! We will take meticulous care of your house, mail, indoor plants, veggie gardens and lovingly look after dogs, cats, birds, fish, chooks, rabbits and guinea pigs. We are more than happy to be in touch with you prior to the pet and house sit and we can also give you updates during your trip so get in touch with us any time to discuss your needs and travel dates as we can accommodate our time to suit your needs. We prefer the northern areas of Australia during the winter months and we are looking forward to a visit to New Zealand in 2018. Ross is a keen fisherman and gardener, I adore reading and writing and tend to be more of a home body and we both really enjoy seeing new sights and meeting new people. You can leave knowing we will take extremely good care of your pets, house and garden and while you’re away. Ross and I are looking forward to getting to know you and giving your pets our love and attention. Prior to handover we would prefer a written list of your requirements and instructions including your mobile number and email address so we can make contact and get to know each other prior to your trip. We know the importance of trust in this relationship and can assure you of our honesty and love of animals, in fact we have found the hardest part of pet sitting is saying goodbye to the pets because we grow so fond of them. Jo and Ross Tanner
Hi! We are a 55 and 62 year old honest, reliable couple and are both employed full time. I (Cathy) am a Senior Accounts Clerk in the NSW Public Service, and my partner (Fred) is a professional truck driver. I also have over fifteen years experience in Hotel/Motel and guesthouse management (3 1/2 to 4 1/2 star properties), both in New South Wales and Tasmania. This experience shows I am very capable of looking after someone else's property (and business), and I have references which reflect this. I also have experience in housesitting, having looked after a house and farm in southern Tasmania. This was a six week housesit, and involved looking after two dogs, a cat and a herd of Murray Gray cattle (most of which calved whilst I was there.)!We live in Sydney, New South Wales and are very keen to do some more housesitting. We love animals and as we have no pets of our own at present, love to care for other people's beloved pets We are very house proud, enjoy gardening and love animals (both domestic and farm) and would look after all these as if they were our own. We are very enthusiastic to recommence housesitting, and welcome any enquiries from interested homeowners. References available on request. Thanks and Regards Cathy and Fred.
We are a semi-retired, non-smoking couple keen to travel and explore new places. We own our own home and have kept all our homes clean and in good condition for 30 years. Friends have felt confident for us to care for their pets when they have been on holidays. Several years ago we house sat for an extended time and had a lovely Cocker Spaniel to keep us company. References and police checks are available upon request. We would love to hear from you if you have any questions. Homeowners from a recent house sit wrote: "We recently returned from a three week holiday to an immaculate home and a very well looked after pet dog."
We are Paul and Alexander - a young (30+) couple who have recently relocated from Norway to Australia. Paul is Australian, and grew up on the open plains of the Monaro in New South Wales. Alexander is Swedish (also a permanent resident of Australia) and grew up on a small hobby farm surrounded by dense forest in Värmland. Until recently, we were happily living and working in Oslo, Norway - not too far from Alex's family in Sweden. We decided to leave Scandinavia in order to be closer to Paul's family and friends and to travel around Australia. In July of 2016 we embarked on a camping trip, starting in Darwin and taking us through the Red Centre and all the way down to Hobart, via South Australia and Victoria. We have seen some amazing places and our trip and look forward to seeing more of Australia in the coming year. We have our own transport.Paul practised as a Landscape Architect for 3 years in Sydney before moving to Oslo 6 years ago. Paul has a Bachelor degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of New South Wales in Sydney and a Masters' degree in Landscape Architecture from the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. Prior to commencing his full-time professional career, Paul was employed as a Horticultural Labourer at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney and at The Mosman Gardener (a nursery on Sydney's lower north shore). These positions involved regular maintenance and one-off improvement works at properties in suburbs such as Kirribilli, Kurraba Point, Cremorne, Mosman, Clifton Gardens, Seaforth and Balgowlah Heights, in addition to the Lower Garden and Government House at the Royal Botanic Gardens. Paul has, therefore, extensive practical experience maintaining and improving manicured gardens and large publicly accessible grounds. This underpins his 10 years of professional design experience dealing with public and private clients and various stakeholders. Your garden will be in good hands! Alexander is GREAT with dogs, having grown up with several show dogs trained by his mother on their property in Sweden. He is quick to establish rapport and assert authority as appropriate. And, both of us have grown up with cats, so we know they can be both kind and cunning. We are also able to perform extra duties & labour for those small home improvement projects that you’ve been wanting to get done for years, such installing shelving, re-painting the hall, cleaning and oiling of timber decks, intensive weeding, planting a new garden bed, composting, demolition of light structures (a chook shed, for example) and garden beds, light tree pruning, garden edging and much more. Talk to us if you have a project around the house that you’d like done while you are away! We are avid users of AirBnB and have enjoyed staying in private dwellings across Europe, Iceland, North America and Australia. There are 19 reviews of our stays available on Paul's AirBnB profile. These can be collated and made available upon request. A copy of our most recent tenant's reference can also be made available upon request. Non-smokers.
David and I have been house sitting for 2 years now and truly love this lifestyle. We have been fortunate enough to be continually on the move over this time and have returned to our first house sit a second time. David and I were original Sydney dwellers for 30 odd years and have always owned our own homes up until 2000. We had a hobby farm in Tasmania for 15 years, with farm animals including sheep, goats, chickens a horse, dogs and cats etc. We are familiar with living with tank water/ water pumps, wood heaters, septic systems and basic requirements for rural living. Leaving Tasmania in 2000 we rented in Sydney for a couple of years then moved to the Central Tablelands, NSW for 11 years where we rented a cabin on a 90 acre goat farm. During that time I did volunteer work on a regular basis for 8 years which involved 6 month periods away from home at a time staying with different families every week, so I am very accustomed to living in other peoples' homes. David worked as a full time carpenter in the local area accompanying me regularly on various trips. After leaving the central tablelands we both volunteered on a 7 acre retreat centre in Victoria for 7 months maintaining the property and looking after 3 acres of garden. We have been on the South Coast, NSW for almost 6 months now. I have a background in admin/bookkeeping and David is a carpenter. We are responsible and mature adults and have experienced many different lifestyles including living in Asia and Tibet. We enjoy the experience of new lifestyles and locations and feel that house sitting would be a great opportunity for us to do what we love and benefit the home owner do what they wish to do. At the moment we are on our 8th house sit and we have been invited back to our first house sit for another 3 months. Ideally we would like long term sits of 3-12 months or more preferably NSW and South East Queensland. Our interests include travelling, walking/hiking and water sports. We are both fit and healthy, don't drink or smoke and enjoy the outdoors. We feel that we are able to fit into a city or rural environment as we have lived in both and would certainly care for your home, garden and pets as if our own. We are more than happy to discuss any house sitting jobs, answer questions, provide references, police checks, photos etc and anything else you would like so as to feel comfortable and secure with the house sitter you have chosen. With kind regardsSusan and David Kirkwood
Hi, I am a reliable and experienced choice for house sitting. I'm currently looking for a new abode and don't want to rush into anything so I'm house sitting while I look. I have looked after 2 cats, a few dogs and some fish for friends when they've been away. I am also a clean and respectful person who has always maintained the garden, collected mail and kept the house clean. I also always make sure that the owners return to a spotless and tidy house. Please let me know if you have any questions. Regards, Larissa.

We're an active couple in our forties. At the end of 2015 we sold our 12 acre hobby farm south of Hobart, Tasmania, where we lived for 19 years, breeding alpacas and providing agistment for mini ponies. We had mini long-haired dachshunds (our kids) for many years and also worked for a dog minding company providing care for dogs in our home, while their people went away.In Feb 2016 we bought an apartment close to Hobart and have spent the winter house-sitting in Queensland. We would like to do some more travelling both in Australia and overseas. We're quiet-living, private and tidy people and will care for your pets, home and garden as our own.
If you are looking for experienced, responsible sitters it would be great to hear from you. Presently, we have not finalized our travel dates (Nov. 2016-Feb.2017) but would be happy to plan around your dates. We are a retired Canadian couple and our daughter lives in Manly. For the last five years, we have spent most of your summer in the Sydney area. Part of our visits have included house and pet sitting. We are currently renovating a cottage in rural Ontario, Canada. Our passion has been to build or renovate our homes. One of these homes was a farm with a small flock of sheep and various other livestock and pets.Suzanne is a retired registered nurse and Larry a retired firefighter. Our activities include yoga, hiking, cooking and travel. We are responsible, active folks who would care for your home and pet(s) as if they were our own.We are non-smokers and will provide additional references if requested.Larry and Suzanne Peacock
We are on the road to retirement & looking forward to the next stage in our life, we are still doing some work via the internet & this means that we will be around for most of the time to care & watch over everything for you.As well as travelling & having new experiences along the way, we have found that house sitting really suits us as it is so comforting to stay in a friendly home environment & if there are pets or animals to look after, then their company is an added bonus! We love animals & wildlife & have had a long experience in caring for dogs, cats & farm animals. Unfortunately we no longer have our own pets, so we would welcome the opportunity to care for yours. Over the years we have also had extensive experience in house & garden maintenance having renovated our own properties & also as sitters, we have cared for a number of different types of homes & properties ranging from large farms through to smaller homes & units. We do understand that everyone's house & pets are different & we seriously take this on board & listen to each individuals requests & we will follow through with meeting your specific requirements while we stay & promise to keep you updated while you are away. The opportunity to become your house sitter would be a great privilege & something we would not take for granted, as we both understand it is a necessity to respect your house & property & keep it well maintained while in residence. We are both non smokers, healthy & happy people & look forward to hearing from you.If required we can provide further reputable references & recommendation contacts.Hope to hear from you !Susie & Gary

*** 2017 Availability: 1 Oct onwards *** Preferred area: Melbourne and surrounds, Victoria.Hello! I'm a responsible and house proud non-smoker with a vast array of house-sits under my belt - from inner city flats to a Tasmanian farmhouse. I am house sitting long term to save for my own home, and have had over three years of house sits almost back-to-back. Many house sits have come through the Happy House Sitters website.I enjoy gardening and love the company of animals. I’ve looked after dogs, cats, birds, chickens and even sheep as part of my house-sits. You can be assured that your home will be kept clean and tidy. As a freelance writer and marketer, I often work from home and I think this adds an advantage of “lived-in security” to a property, not to mention extra time with the pets!A police check and excellent references are available on request.Ideally I’m after long term house-sits (1 month +) but will definitely consider shorter term options.

I grew up on a farm thus have familiarity, experience, patience and love for animals and pets, having grown up caring for many various pets of my own.I have a passion for gardening and landscaping; I have the time to care for, walk and empathize with your pet/s missing their owner/s while keeping your home safe and as you left it. I have always owned my own homes and worked in responsible professional positions; married for 37 years to an electrician who works away six months of the year, with adult independent children living interstate pursuing professional careers.I will respect your home, garden and beloved pets with the care I show my own. We are a mature couple (68 and 72 year olds) non drinkers and non smokers. Fit and able to do garden and walk pet. We like to ride our bikes to explore whatever region we may visit. The idea is to head north each year to escape the southern winters.
Hi, I'm Emily! I'm a non-smoking vegan who loves animals of all kinds. My work as a design consultant takes me up and down Australia, so I house sit on location near my clients. I sometimes have to commute to an office but there are times when I'll work from 'home' a lot - I'll tell you which kind of project I'm on when I contact you.I'm currently based in Melbourne, and have booked house sits in Sydney 17th-30th April. My plans for May are currently unclear but there's a good chance I'll need to be in Perth.I absolutely adore animal companions - in my life I've cohabited with cats, mice, fish, lizards, snails, chickens, ferrets and bunnies. My dear cat Tufter passed away of old age 5 years ago, and the nature of my work has prevented me being able to commit to a pet since. I'd therefore be delighted to spend some time taking care of other people's pets playing, cuddling, exercising or just seeing to their needs.I've lived with cats most of my life and adore them, usually bonding quickly. As well as indoor-outdoor moggies I've cared for indoor-only cats (Ragdolls and Burmese) with various dietary and toiletry needs. I've kept my own flock of egg-laying chickens and am a licensed reptile keeper in NSW. I love dogs as well and am more than happy to take responsibility for them - I've cared for a number of other people's dogs and bonded well with them, but never owned one myself.I write regular notes for the owner so you can relax knowing your pets are doing well. And if there are any unexpected health issues I'll make sure they get straight to the vet's. I'm also a bit of a hobbyist photographer so you might get some cute pics along the way!I am also a homeowner - have been for 13 years now - so I'm confident in dealing with maintenance or emergency issues in a house. For example, I'll take note of where the electric metres / fuse boxes / water mains are and will use my common sense to work out whether I can sort something out myself, whether I need to contact an emergency workman, or whether I need to contact the owner.I can provide references from my work, from a previous house sit and from friends as needed. You'll see some of them attached to this profile.
Hi there, I'm a semi retired 50 something male (non smoker) who looks after people's pets and homes. I have had many happy clients, including lots of dogs and cats and horses and cows (see pics); I'm sure their owners are happy too. I have many references from pet owners who you can speak to; including police personnel, doctors and business owners, so you can check my bona fides.I have much rural experience and I'm rather handy with tractors, diggers, ride on lawn mowers, chainsaws and the like. Homes in my care have varied from farms to cute cottages to executive palaces and high security homes. My preferences are northern rivers of NSW / sthn Queensland and the greater Sydney area. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks :) Available from 19 November 2014.
Benjamin (32), Casey (32) and Willem (3) are a small family based in Melbourne. Benjamin is a postgraduate research student in international relations at the University of Melbourne and Casey is a full-time visual artist, specialising in ink paintings. We are a healthy-living and non-smoking family, that love to travel, enjoy nature and the great outdoors, and getting active (exercising, hiking and exploring.)In 2017, Benjamin is writing a thesis on Australia-Japan relations, and Casey is further developing her business and profile as an artist. This flexibility to work from any location will enable them to spend some time travelling amongst exhibition/research commitments.Benjamin and Casey have both grown up around dogs, with Benjamin's family home never having less than 2-3 dogs at a time, and Casey growing up with a mixture of cats, dogs and horses. They have both grown up on semi-rural properties, and Benjamin also spent childhood holidays on the family farm near Esperance, tending to sheep, lambs and farm dogs.Together, they have had experience house-sitting in city apartments, suburban homes and rural farms, happily adapting to the tasks and responsibilities unique to each. Whether it is caring for pets or tending to gardens and swimming pools, they take pride in maintaining the houses and properties they are entrusted with, and caring for furry friends! Willem has relished in these opportunities too. References are available upon request.
I have been an owner of dogs for 20 years. I am pet friendly, responsible and reliable. I am of good character and trustworthy both with your home and your pets - something that is very important to me, and I empathise with the decision to have someone in your home taking care of your precious pets. When I go away I have pet sitters come to my home so my dogs are in a safe familiar environment in my absence. I am fit and healthy (non smoker) and am able to walk dogs and maintain a clean house. I will respect your home and your privacy. My partner is a stock agent. He is very capable with all requisites re the land and animals. He has cats and aviaries and Ollie the cockatoo. He is a real farm gem. He also works as a gardener on a property in the Western District. He is very capable and versatile and can and will turn his hand to anything. I am interested in house sits by myself, or with Wes, depending on your requirements.Hope we can assist each other .
Paula and I (Geoff) are a retired couple who like to think of ourselves as fitness enthusiasts. We live in Southern Canberra and fill our days with cycling, bushwalking, going to the gym, camping, traveling and playing with our grandchildren. We have recent experience with dogs and cats, no pets at the moment though and I have experience with farm life having grown up on 80 acres as a child.
