Hello Home Owners! This year I am focusing on house-sitting around the Toowoomba area; some areas in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast; South Australia [ my birth state]..Adelaide and surrounds, the south east, Barossa Valley, Clare; and Victoria ..around and in Melbourne, Mornington Peninsular, Yarra Valley; and in and around Newcastle.Being a pensioner, and a retired teacher,I decided House-Sitting was my only way of having a break/ holiday from home. I have done several successful house-sits ..all with dogs, cats, birds, fish , etc., and even a pet python.I am an inveterate animal-lover, with a rural back-ground. I do not smoke , and only have the occasional good wine or Guinness. I don't throw parties.. not even dinner-parties!! I bring my own mobile larder, laptop, printer, mobile USB internet , and mobile phone, so I do not need much, apart from some space in the fridge and the freezer. I have my own transport .References are available.

My husband (Peter) and I are both in our mid sixties and decided to rent our house and buy a mobile home and trailer to take our Earth and Space Education Programs and Mobile Planetarium to schools in more remote areas. We have little work, if any, over the school holidays and sometimes need a house to "recharge our batteries". We especially are looking for a long term house sit as our first schools are in Mt Gambier in February 2018 and we would love a house sit through January on the way.We both are animal nutters and have even bought dog treats to give to animals we meet on our travels. Our last black labrador, Windsor, passed away 5 years ago and we are unfortunately unable to have a dog on our travels as we can be often in dog-free zones. We are often asked to dog and house sit by our friends who seem to think we're homeless. We have also house sat many other houses and many and varied animals, for people from this site and their friends. We can provide their names and phone numbers on request. Neither of us are smokers and my husband has a "keep everything spotless" disease which makes me find him often staring longingly at cleaning products at Aldi while I am buying the fresh fruit and veg. We also have Working With Children Licences and Crimtrac police checks.
I am moving to take up a new full-time position with Elders in Tassie.I have previously house sat and can provide a reference if needed.I am a tidy person and can look after the garden. My interests are tennis, golf and reading and this house in Mt Stuart would provide the perfect opportunity to tide me over while I look for a permanent residence.I have friends I can stay with until its available.
We're an active couple in our forties. At the end of 2015 we sold our 12 acre hobby farm south of Hobart, Tasmania, where we lived for 19 years, breeding alpacas and providing agistment for mini ponies. We had mini long-haired dachshunds (our kids) for many years and also worked for a dog minding company providing care for dogs in our home, while their people went away.In Feb 2016 we bought an apartment close to Hobart and have spent the winter house-sitting in Queensland. We would like to do some more travelling both in Australia and overseas. We're quiet-living, private and tidy people and will care for your pets, home and garden as our own.
Hello. We are a recently retired teaching couple who are active, love animals and nature, and are interested in looking after your home and animals for you while you are away. We have our own home in the Hunter Valley, NSW, where we live with our 3 teenage children who are completing their uni degrees and working. The kids are now old enough to look after themselves and our little dog,and we are looking forward to heading out and seeing Australia. We are non-smokers; love to walk and exercise;are clean and tidy;enjoy tending to gardens and have prior experience with a wide variety of pets. We have house sat in the past, and can provide references if required.
Hello, my name is Lisa. I am a 33 year old, non-smoker who has been living in South-West Victoria for almost 3 years.I have recently enrolled in a design course at RMIT. Commencing on 20 August, the course will run for a number of weeks. I hope to find a place to call home near RMIT so that I can walk to and from classes, or hop on a tram.I currently live on a small hobby farm where I love feeding the animals, searching for chook eggs and tending to the veggie patch. I would look after and care for your pets and your home as my own. Please do get in touch if you would like to ask me any questions. Very best wishes, Lisa
Hello,We are two retired professional people, (non smokers) who although living in our separate houses, are best friends and have been in a romantic relationship for sometime now.As a Social worker for 12 years and a lawyer for 25 years & a Local Govt Elected member for 8 years, I have held very responsible positions and have a good dose of "common sense" Rob has had extensive experience in building highways, managing staff, planning small and big projects and also owned his own strata title management business for 10 years. In that capacity he had to ensure that apartments in his care were well maintained and cared for. ,We have a wonderful life here in Adelaide, with Rotary connections, voluntary work, bridge playing with friends, walking along lovely bush lanes, sharing dinners with pals and lots of other leisure activities. But we really enjoy and love to travel together, both within Australia or overseas. We both have cars & I have a Toyota Hiace 4 wheel drive Campervan, which we use in nice weather. Some of the photos attached to this application reflect the kinds of holidays we have enjoyed, trips around the outback, India, and fancy retreats for special occasions. I own my courtyard home with beautiful back and front gardens, which is well suited to lock up and leave, great for traveling. And I have a small dog and always loved dogs, cats and all other animals. I am also a volunteer with RSPCA & help with caring for animals there. Rob has a large modern house on his 2 acre property in the foothills and is an expert gardener and talented handyman (given his engineering background). We would love to come up north in the southern winter, in the van (Blossom 2nd ) meet up with friends up there and hopefully, house sit for folk who need that service. This would include minding pets (who I am excited to meet!), keep the garden nice, pick up the mail, and obviously take good care of someone else's home. June July and August or September would be great months for us participate in these house sitting opportunities. We would love to have the opportunity to look after a house in a variety of situations, be it, bush, city, suburbs, large or modest size. We are happy to have a stint that lasts any period from between 10 days and 3 weeks, initially but eventually hope to lengthen the sits. As you can gather we have not done this very often but have had one short sit and the house owner has provided us with a very positive reference. However, I have also leased villas in Italy and France for weeks at a time and so am familiar with what is involved. Rob has had similar experiences over his life and is exceptionally sensible.I am not sure what else I can tell you about us, but of course we would be happy to talk if that would be of use in you being assured of our suitability.
If you are looking for someone to love your fur kids to bits, then we are the house sitters for you. We are looking for a housesit from 02/1/18.Senior couple, non-smokers, social drinkers, in good health, refined, professional and very clean, considerate and quiet-living.We have been house sitting full time for nine years and call ourselves pet nannies. We have Police Certificates and excellent references (which are available upon request). Over the years we have cared for goats, a pony, fish, chickens, birds and wallabies but mostly very spoiled puppy dogs and pussy cats.See our website and house sitting adventures, www.happyhewitts.com or meet us on Facebook: HappyHewitts Housesitting.
HiMy husband, I and 2 daughters love house and pet sitting! We had a farm in New Zealand so have a great knowledge and experience of farm animals and all kinds of fur babies! We have owned many cats, dogs, guinea pigs, birds, fish... We all adore our animals. Our daughters are very academic and also love looking after animals as they have always been brought up with animals around them. Abigail is nearly 14 and Michaela is 10. They are very respectable of other peoples properties and always clean up after themselves! They are very quiet girls. My husband is an engineer and I am a full time mum. We live in Brisbane but are moving to the Sunshine Coast in January 2018. We are looking for a house sit for January to the end of March 2018 near Buderim! Last year we moved over from New Zealand. We have lived in Adelaide and the UK and South Africa. We are also wanting to do a house / pet sit anywhere in Australia, Tasmania or New Zealand for December and the beginning of January 2018!We are non smokers and do not drink. We have always owned our own homes. We love these opportunities of house sitting as it gives us time to look for work and properties while we are relocating, and gives us a "holiday from home" too. We are very appreciative of these opportunities too! We always clean the properties and treat as if they were our own. We treat the animals as if they were our own and they always become a part of our family too!We do have GREAT references so please have a look. I can also give you a call anytime to have a chat and we can come and visit you is possible! We are very honest, loyal, professional and kind people so are always open to suggestions and opinions etc. Thank you for your time!Michelle
***Availability: mid November - 2 December 2017; 24 Jan 2018 onwards*** Preferred area: Melbourne and surrounds, Victoria.Hello! I'm a responsible and house proud non-smoker with an array of house-sits under my belt - from inner city flats to a Tasmanian farmhouse. I am house sitting long term to save for my own home, and have had over three years of house sits almost back-to-back. Many house sits have come through the Happy House Sitters website.I enjoy a bit of gardening and love the company of animals. I’ve looked after dogs, cats, birds, chickens and even sheep as part of my house-sits. You can be assured that your home will be kept clean and tidy. As a freelance writer and marketer, I often work from home and I think this adds an advantage of “lived-in security” to a property, not to mention extra time with the pets!A police check and excellent references are available on request.Ideally I’m after long term house-sits (1 month +) but will definitely consider shorter term options.
We are looking for pet/ house sits in Queensland in July and early August 2018. We are booked June and Late August and September 2018. We love our work!!Hi, my husband and I are recently retired teachers 61 and 62 who have lived and worked in the same area for 32 years. Of course as teachers we had regular police checks and we can also provide references. After retirement we went to Canada, Hawaii, Far North Queensland and Tasmania. Yes we have caught the travel bug! We are friendly, reliable and caring and now that our children have grown up and our beloved pets passed away we are rattling around our house with time on our hands. We love animals and always looked after all our friends and neighbours pets, houses, gardens and mail when they are away. One of them suggested pet and house sitting as it involves travelling, animals and gardening! As a retired couple we are available for any length of time and we can plan to house sit everywhere in Australia for the next 12 to 24 months after which time we hope our children will provide us with grandchildren to spoil. As my husband Ross is a very keen fisherman we try for locations close to good fishing areas and he takes his small boat. We love to travel and see new places and while we get free accommodation and the use of your house as a base for our day trips, you get free pet sitting and the care of your home. We will take meticulous care of your house, mail, indoor plants, veggie gardens and lovingly look after dogs, cats, birds, fish, chooks, rabbits and guinea pigs. We are more than happy to be in touch with you prior to the pet and house sit and we can also give you updates during your trip so get in touch with us any time to discuss your needs and travel dates as we can accommodate our time to suit your needs. We prefer the northern areas of Australia during the winter months and escaping the cold Victorian winters. Ross is a keen fisherman and gardener, I adore reading and writing and tend to be more of a home body and we both really enjoy seeing new sights and meeting new people. You can leave knowing we will take extremely good care of your pets, house and garden and while you’re away. Ross and I are looking forward to getting to know you and giving your pets our love and attention. Prior to handover we would prefer a written list of your requirements and instructions including your mobile number and email address so we can make contact and get to know each other prior to your trip. We know the importance of trust in this relationship and can assure you of our honesty and love of animals, in fact we have found the hardest part of pet sitting is saying goodbye to the pets because we grow so fond of them. Luckily for us we have had repeat house sits which makes us very happy.Jo and Ross Tanner
My husband and I are both retired, although Ian does work every now and then for his previous employer (finance area). I retired 3 years ago but had been a School Admonistration Manager (14 years). I still have security clearance to work in schools, therefore have had the full criminal record check. We did our first house sitting and pet minding "job" in March and April 2015 (6 wks) and we looked after lovely little dog and cat(See Reference) and we then did another house sit, pet minding (5 wks) looking after another gorgeous dog (See Reference). Our background in brief: Five adult children. Married 42 years. We now live in an Over 50s complex and are enjoying it very much. We had previously lived at Sylvania, southern suburb of Sydney, for 35 years. Always been involved in community activities (Judy - P&C life member, and raising money for various charities. Ian - Soccer Chairmans award for volunteer work, also local Scout group committee member and volunteer work). We love pets, growing up I had a poodle, and Ian had a Jack Russell. Our family dog was a Staffie called Cypress. She was loved for 14 years, and when the timing is right we will have another Staffie. But we love all pets. We are honest and reliable, and would take good care of your home, inside and out. Ian really enjoys mowing lawns, yes he does. And I love pottering in the garden. We would now like to do more travelling and exploring of this wonderful country. Please contact us if you would like more information.
Hi, my name is Julie. I am a happy, healthy semi-retired animal lover, who is mature and reliable. I own a small business that I run from my desktop. As a house sitter, this means that I can provide a constant presence to watch over your home and give your pets the same company, care and attention that you would yourself. I am available to sit right across Australia. In addition to running my own small business, I have also managed a faculty across three campuses and been a busy travel agent and tour guide in my working life. Employers have entrusted me with valuable assets, large sums of money and the well-being of other people. I am reliable, trustworthy and well organised; mature but young at heart. At home, I keep a very tidy house. I actually enjoy the comfortable routines of housekeeping and seeing the house look as neat as a pin. I never move anything, I am very respectful of a homeowner's space. When you return, you'll find everything just as you left it.In addition to taking good care of home and beloved pets, I am happy to look after mail, provide regular updates and all the other things that will give you peace of mind while you are away. I keep in touch regularly by sending messages and pics of your little ones, as any of my referees will attest. I love gardening, am handy with a mower and all the day to day maintenance needed to keep outdoor areas looking great. I am free to travel on flexible dates and take up long or short assignments.I am health conscious without being obsessive, enjoy exercise and am a non smoker.I have a police check and references. You will be able to call and verify references. These contacts can be provided on request. "Julie looked after our house, our old blue heeler, our cat and 3 chooks for around two weeks whilst we were overseas in March 2015. We came home to a lovely clean house and very happy and well looked after pets. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Julie and would certainly love her to look after our house again" - Sharon Vincent Batemans Bay NSW 2536

Hi all House owners,We are an active couple venturing into retirement and see this as a great opportunity to experience more of this beautiful country. We left our home in SA in June to explore more of this beautiful country before settling in to retirement. We have been across NSW on our way to Queensland with a focus on visiting family in Wollongong for Christmas. From there, we may continue our travels down the coast through Victoria and hopefully Tasmania before heading back to Adelaide later in 2018.We have both had pets and would be very confident in managing any of your pets as required. We are non smokers and are also very House proud so you can be assured your property would be looked after as if our own. We look forward to hearing from youRegards Lynn and Ron
I have been an owner of dogs for 20 years. I am pet friendly, responsible and reliable. I am of good character and trustworthy both with your home and your pets - something that is very important to me, and I empathise with the decision to have someone in your home taking care of your precious pets. When I go away I have pet sitters come to my home so my dogs are in a safe familiar environment in my absence. I am fit and healthy (non smoker) and am able to walk dogs and maintain a clean house. I will respect your home and your privacy. My partner is a stock agent. He is very capable with all requisites re the land and animals. He has cats and aviaries and Ollie the cockatoo. He is a real farm gem. He also works as a gardener on a property in the Western District. He is very capable and versatile and can and will turn his hand to anything. I am interested in house sits by myself, or with Wes, depending on your requirements.Hope we can assist each other .
I currently live and work in Melbourne, living in a share household. I house sit as I also enjoy having time to myself. I also love caring for pets. Over the past years I have sat on many occasions with many homeowners asking me back to sit for them. I will take really good care of your pets. I genuinely enjoy both cats and dogs. I Like taking dogs for walks and offering lots of affection. Same for cats too...except the walking. Will also take good care of your property and leave it in an excellent condition. I have excellent references. A police check. I don't smoke. I am a friendly respectful guy who is very clean and tidyCheers, Patrick
Hey there! We're two german backpacker girls who are searching for a nice stay. Next to Australia, we also travelled together through Russia (host family), Denmark (by a sailing boat) and the Netherlands (by bike). We're very clean and organised, that's why we need a break from sleeping in hostels. Due to our experience with animals (farm and domestic) we would like to care for your pet while we're sitting your house. Next to our domestic animals in Germany (cat, dog, rabbits), we also cared about farm animals while we were woofing in Australia. We like to walk through the beautiful parks of Sydney (we're both very active) and we would love to walk your dog or just petting your cat.
We love to meet new pets and visiting new places and have been enthusiastic house sitters for over six years - many repeat sits with the same owners. We are dedicated pet carers and gardeners, understanding that your pets, garden and house are very special. We would look after them with kind enthusiasm taking excellent care and paying attention to all the things required. We are both fit and well, are non-smokers and are very tidy and organised. We live in Victoria, love to travel and can do any duration of house sit whether in city or country. We are university graduates and take a keen interest in gardening, graphics, art, books, bird watching and walking. We are familiar with pumps, tanks and the workings of mowers etc as well as computers and have good problem solving skills.Full references with contact numbers can be provided upon request but here are a few:Rod and Lining - Cherrybrook NSW Chris and Fiona looked after our house and cat for about two months at the end of 2016. They were excellent house sitters and I can warmly recommend their services. They took great care with our possessions and treated the house as their own. They showed initiative to maintain the house and the garden. They kept the house spotless and the garden has never looked better than after Chris had applied his "green fingers". Throughout our absence they regularly informed us about any issues and this helped us to have enjoyable and worry-free holidays. Chris and Fiona are very good with animals and they took great care of the cat, goldfish and all. We thank them for everything and would have no hesitation to trust them with our property and animals in the future.Bob and Joan: Mullumbimby NSWChris and Fiona have been house sitters for us on 12 occasions. We have a 3 bedroom house and a flat attached to the garage. Our property is 1 1/4 acres. At all times they treated the house as their own and cared for it and the yard as if that what the case. They are both honest, caring, genuine people. We would recommend them as house sitters.Annie and Stefan: Hanoi, VietnamFiona and Chris stayed at our apartment in Hanoi, Vietnam to look after our cats and plants. They were fantastic! They were organised and conscientious house guests and our cats had a great week with them. We had some flooding right as we were leaving, and they were able to help us dry out and air out the space! We would highly recommend them for another house sit!Fred and Monica: Northern NSWI would like to offer this reference for Chris and Fiona, as they looked after our house and cat on 3 occasions and we were very happy with the outcome. We can definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a house/pet sitter.Sara and Leo - Repton NSWChris and Fiona house-sat for us for eight weeks taking care of our pets (chickens, rabbit, cat and fish) and home. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone else looking for thoughtful and responsible house-sitters.Maree and Pat - Hervey Bay, QLDWe recently met Fiona and Chris for the first time when they accepted our request to house sit for us. It was a pleasure to get to know them before we left on our holiday, as they are a very genuine, cheerful, friendly and caring couple. Their sincere interest in caring for our home and Sir Winston (our inside ragdoll cat) was a reassurance to us to enjoy our time away without worry. Our home was left spotless and Sir Winston was content/happy - he usually has a temper tantrum and hides for a couple of days when we return, but this holiday, he didn't. We have no hesitation in recommending both Fiona and Chris for any house sit they may request to undertake, and we will be looking for them again in the future.A big THANK YOU to Fiona and Chris.Karen - Acacia Hills, TasmaniaFiona and Chris were house sitting for me for 3 and a half weeks in 2017.They cared for my 17 year old burmese cat Sara. She was so well cared for and relaxed you wouldn't have known I'd been away! I loved the way they kept her routines and allowed her to be herself (dominate the household and rule the roost!) I think she was in a better health than when I left, which for an old cat is wonderful! They were very respectful and caring of my home and property. I came home to find a beautifully presented yard and a very clean tidy house.I really appreciated having Fiona and Chris as my house sitters and would thoroughly recommend them to anyone who was considering sitters who love caring for cats and a semi rural property.
I am in a transition stage this year, having put my home in storage at New Year and I'm undertaking full time house sitting while I live in different suburbs and the surrounding areas of Sydney. Eventually I aim to buy an apartment and will either rent it out or live in it. In the last twelve months I sold a business after building it up over twenty years and moved out of a townhouse where I had lived for twelve years. I am undertaking a masters degree by research this year and next so I have a lot of time to stay "in" if required which will suit pet owners. I have been enjoying the house sitting community and it suits my current life of studying and doing much less work.I love animals and, apart from the last 5 years, have had pets of all descriptions most of my life. An inner-city person now, I have lived in different places over the years including by the ocean, on a river and on a farm over twenty years ago and raised animals of all kinds from baby lambs and calves to cats, dogs and birds. I pet sit for friends when they are away and the pets always take to me quickly as I do them. I have worked in the arts and business for twenty five years and now run a small home based business as well as my study which does not require attendance at class. I have grown children who are totally independent and I feel this is my time to explore new ideas and live in new areas. House sitting is a great way to live in new areas and transition to a new home eventually for myself. I am very responsible, a garden and pet lover. I do need to stay within commuting distance of Sydney for study and family.
We are a professional couple located in Canberra and have previously completed a local house sit in between the sale of our house and the purchase of our new one. We have a seventeen year old daughter who loves school and enjoys part-time work. She is a mature young lady who loves animals of all shapes and sizes. We enjoy meeting and looking after new furry friends during house sits and our daughter currently does this in our home for Don't Fret Pet. We are clean and tidy non-smokers who respect other peoples property and privacy. Whilst we don't have Happy Housesitters references we are happy to forward both of our work histories which include over two decades service in the AFP and an executive HR management role with a not-for-profit.Our house sitting interest at the moment is for holiday breaks (either in or out of school holidays) as a family, or sometimes individually as I (Tony) don't work full time. Occasionally I am happy to get away for a break by myself. My wife encourages it;-)If you are after a small family who will take care of your pets and home as if they were their own then we would love to help.
Hi there! My name is Nikki, I'm a 28 year old female from Scotland and I am studying my Masters in Landscape Architecture. I came to Melbourne in July 2017 to study and I will be staying in Australia until my final year of uni starts in Scotland in September 2018. My next semester starts in January but it is distance learning, so I will just be studying from home and don't have to attend uni which is why I thought about house-sitting. I've been renting an apartment in the CBD since I arrived but since I spend most of my time studying in the house anyway it would be nice to have a furry friend to keep me company and I would also get to see other parts of Melbourne. Unfortunately at this point in my life I can't have a pet of my own because of university and travelling but I love all kinds of animals and I'm especially experienced in taking care of dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, fish and bearded dragons. The beautiful miniature pinscher you see in my pictures is called Benji, my friend saved him from a breeder who obviously didn't care about the wellbeing of her puppies and as a result he developed some behavioural problems and was aggressive and possessive. I offered to foster him for her until he was ready to be around other dogs and as you can see with a little training and a lot of love he turned into the perfect little gentleman and can't get enough of cuddling on the couch.I worked as an in-home carer for disabled adults whilst at home in Britain, therefor I have been extensively police checked and received specialist training and have certificates that confirm I am legally entrusted with the care of the most vulnerable people in society. I conducted personal care for severely disabled individuals and took them out for activities and assisted with general day to day living like shopping, preparing food, doing chores and I also maintained their homes for them so I am experienced with house cleaning. If you are interested in my references I will provide you with contact details for my previous employer who can verify my police check, that I worked there for over a year (the only reason I reluctantly left the job was because I was coming here to study) and that I am trustworthy and have the experience necessary to care for your house and pets. You also know that I couldn't have a criminal record or I would not have been granted a Visa or entry into Australia and I will provide you with photocopies of my drivers licence (full, manual and clean) and passport so you have my personal details.I'm more than happy to send you daily pictures or video calls so you can see that your pet is being treated with the love and attention they deserve. I don't drink or smoke, I am a clean and quiet lodger and will provide a reference from my current landlord (who lives in the property with me) to confirm this. I am happy to meet you prior to making any house sitting plans so you can decide if I'm a good fit. I am a warm, compassionate person just looking fsor a furry companion to keep me company during my studies, I'm looking for longer house sits preferably around a month so I can see different parts of Australia but not have to move around too often. I'm happy to sign a contract with agreed terms and will even provide you with a bond to ensure your peace of mind.I look forward to hearing from you!Nikki
I'm a single, mature, quiet, non-smoking woman, love pets; am a homeowner and houseproud, and would look after your place as if it were my own. I work at one of the local universities in Canberra and like a change of scenery during my holidays.I have successfully cared for a home and two large dogs for four weeks and can provide references; have experience with and very much enjoy looking after cats as well, and have in the distant past, looked after chickens, ducks and aquariums. Why don't you give me a call and see if I may be the right person to take care of your home and pets? My phone number is 0413 725 727.Best wishes,Petra
Dear home owner,I have enjoyed caring for people's homes and pets for several years. During that time I have had the pleasure of maintaining landscaped gardens and lawns up to two acres in size.( Ride-on mower preferred.)I have experience in caring for a variety of pets and livestock. Also, I am very experienced with pets that need extra care. EG medications or special care requirements. Caring for your home and much loved pets is my number one priority.I am clean and tidy and enjoy living a quiet lifestyle.Housesitting gives me the opportunity to experience living in interesting and diverse communities. It also allows me to indulge in my favourite activities, nature photography and bushwalking.I have very good references and a police clearance check.I look forward to hearing from you.Kind RegardsMichelle
