Hi - we are a semi retired couple living on the Sunshine Coast in Qld. Below are the points we consider to be the most important reasons for why we have chosen to become regular house/pet sitters:- We have completed a number of pet/house sits and have found the experience to be really enjoyable and a great way for us to travel to different areas in Australia. We have had some wonderful pet experiences, met some great people and so we can only say really good things about our completed pet sits.We are, of course, particularly conscious of the fact that we are in someone else's home and we take that responsibility very seriously. Most importantly, we are animal lovers, have had many dogs and cats and know the one thing a pet owner wants, is to know their animal is happy and well cared for - we have been there ourselves. We always keep in touch via email with updates on how your pet is going. So look forward to hearing from anyone who may be interested in our minding their home and or pet while they are away.References available
We are experienced Aussie housesitters, retired accountant and agricultural scientist, grey nomads, non smokers, and both dog and cat lovers, having owned our own pets all our lives, and looked after numerous and various animals as housesitters for other homeowners, like yourselves. My husband and I were introduced to the concept of housesitting when we retired in July 2005. Since then, we have combined travel with housesitting in Australia, New Zealand, England and Europe and made lifelong friends along the way. So far, we have undertaken 100+ housesits over the past 12 years since retiring from full time employment. For ourselves during the course of our life, we have owned large dogs; boxers and german shepherds – all obedience trained - also cats, fish and poultry. We both retired from our jobs in the Northern Territory and sold our home, with a swimming pool, owned for 20 years. We plan on continuing to travel whilst we are healthy and until we get the travel bug out of our system. Our motto is to treat your home and pets as we would expect our own home and pets to be treated - with respect, love and care.I was born and bred on a farm in South Australia, lived there for 21 years before moving to the Northern Territory, where my working life continued as an accountant. My husband is a Queenslander, and worked as an agricultural scientist in 2 Australian states, during the course of his working career. We can provide written references, photos and police clearances, if you require further info. – but basically, we are just ‘grey nomads’ – enjoying retirement and travelling around England, Europe and Australia whilst we still have our health and are able to travel. Thanks for your time
We are a mature couple (68 and 72 year olds) non drinkers and non smokers. Fit and able to do garden and walk pet. We like to ride our bikes to explore whatever region we may visit. The idea is to head north each year to escape the southern winters.
I am a retired Lecturer. I own my home, have a car and since I worked overseas currently have no pets. Previously though I have lived on the land all my life.I have had a several dogs ,my last was a pure bred blue roan cocker spaniel. I was owner of Serendip Siamese and bred and showed Siamese and Foreign White cats. My last lovely cat died at age 17 before I left for work overseas. I am familiar with most farm animals, though not for the past five years while working overseas.I am a keen gardener and past Secretary of our local Garden Club plus a former committee member of Noorat Residents Association. I have family all around Australia and like to house sit and incorporate brief family visits while sitting interstate.I am a responsible, honest, caring animal lover, a non smoker & non drinker who loves to read ( addicted to my iPad which has 500 books for me to choose from!). I like winter sitting in northern climes and being home to water my garden in Spring/Summer if possible. I will consider sits in Perth for two weeks over Christmas which would allow me to see family and spend some of Xmas day with them. I have a family wedding in Perth at Christmas and again in February so am happy to house sit in Perth this Summer so I can attend those precious family occasions whilst maintaining independence and caring for beloved pets and homes.I am new to this site but have been sitting privately and with Mindahome and have references available. I have a Police Clearance and a previous working with Children Check( for work- now expired).I will care for your home as my own and your pets with loving care and attention.
*** 2017 Availability: 1 Oct onwards *** Preferred area: Melbourne and surrounds, Victoria.Hello! I'm a responsible and house proud non-smoker with a vast array of house-sits under my belt - from inner city flats to a Tasmanian farmhouse. I am house sitting long term to save for my own home, and have had over three years of house sits almost back-to-back. Many house sits have come through the Happy House Sitters website.I enjoy gardening and love the company of animals. I’ve looked after dogs, cats, birds, chickens and even sheep as part of my house-sits. You can be assured that your home will be kept clean and tidy. As a freelance writer and marketer, I often work from home and I think this adds an advantage of “lived-in security” to a property, not to mention extra time with the pets!A police check and excellent references are available on request.Ideally I’m after long term house-sits (1 month +) but will definitely consider shorter term options.
I am a mature, non-smoking, semi-retired professional engineer currently living in Highett, Melbourne and working for the City of Kingston. I am currently saving for my own home and so would love to look after yours to help me reach my savings goal to facilitate this. Having owned my own home, I am mindful of what is needed to look after a home and its gardens. I have grown up caring for pets and love the company of animals. I have house-sat for appreciative clients and diligently cared for cats, dogs and plants/gardens whilst keeping homes neat and tidy. I have trained dogs to a high level and kept racing pigeons as a lad and so I am confident that I would be able to take great care of yours pets, whatever they might be. I am available for any length of house sit and can provide both personal and professional references. I have a police clearance and even have an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency Baseline security clearance. I am a caring, responsible and considerate person, and would take excellent care of your property. I am available to sit at short notice. I love peace and my own company. I have excellent references which will be provided on request so why not give me a call so we can meet and you can decide for yourself?

We are two retired, active, music and food loving schoolteachers with a penchant for travelling and enjoying new experiences. We have been involved in house and pet sitting for many years and in many places throughout Australia and overseas. While we have a home in Adelaide, we enjoy a nomadic lifestyle in our motorhome, which makes it unfair to have pets of our own. Housesitting allows us to indulge our love of animals and over the years we have cared for many dogs, cats, birds, horses, sheep, goats, cattle and the like, with dogs, whether big and boisterous or small and cuddly, being our special love. We are certainly respectful, house-proud sitters, with Tony being a dab hand at housework and gardening while Helen is something of an expert at quality control, and you can rest assured that your property and pets will be cared for as if they are our own. We will happily provide you with contact details for phone referees if required.
We are a non-smoking couple in our 60s. John has a Security License and works in security, sometimes on shift work. Yvonne is a voluntary ESL Teacher. We are houseproud and consider it a privilege to care for your home, pets and garden. We are available for any length of housesitting. We have had many employment situations where we have looked after property - Camp Managers, Relieving Caretakers of a large neighbouring Apartment Building, and Caretaker of a large church complex (John). We also have Police Checks. We can supply references.
Hi Home Owners, I'm Ellen, I am from Kangaroo Island, South Australia, however I have called Melbourne home for the last 6 years. During this time I have worked, studied and traveled extensively. I live a quiet life, my focus being on health, fitness and maintaining a balanced lifestyle. I am ambitious and am working towards starting my own business in ethically sourced, made-to-order clothing.Having grown up in the country I have always been surrounded by a myriad of domestic and farm animals and been involved in their care. So I think it goes without saying that I am a huge animal person, with plenty of knowledge and experience. Since moving to the city, I really do enjoy the companionship dogs and cats bring to my life.Throughout my time living in Melbourne I have rented, lived with my grandma and occasionally house sat. While house sitting I have looked after dogs, cats, and fish. I have also been responsible for pools and vegetable gardens, both of which require daily maintenance. I grew up in the family home my parents built. I am now part owner in this house which is currently being rented. This gives me an understanding of what it feels like to entrust another person with something you own that holds great sentimental and financial value. House sitting enables me to save and work towards my goal of starting my own business. It also affords me independence, and the opportunity to experience living in different suburbs of Melbourne, which I greatly appreciate. I get to discover new cafes, walking trails and friends, and really get to know all that our city has to offer.Any questions, please get in touch! I look forward to meeting you and your pets. Ellen
Hello,We are a non-smoking, mature aged couple who will look after your home and pets as if they were your own. We are willing to travel to most areas of Australia. At the moment we are looking for a house-sit in NSW, Victoria or Q'ld, but are willing to consider/travel other states. We are experienced house sitters, having done many sits over recent years including many return requests. Our reasons for house sitting are simple. It gives us the opportunity of seeing different parts of this beautiful country, and it also to gives us the opportunity to provide the home owner with peace of mind that their home and animal/s will be extremely well cared for, should we be granted that privilege. We take pride in what we do, being both neat and tidy. We enjoy a quiet life, are very capable, employ common sense and take care of things the way we would hope some-one would do for us. We have cared for many different animals, cats (many varieties including Ragdoll, Himalayan, Russian Blue, Birman, Burmese, Siamese, much loved long haired and short haired moggies, all with different personalities and requirements, some indoor only felines), a few dogs both small and large, fish, chickens and cows a herd of 20+. We have looked after suburban properties and rural/semi-rural with water tanks and septic systems, pumps and bio-cycles. We can provide excellent references upon request. Looking forward to hearing from you.Debra and Tom
Hi pet lovers and lovely home owners,We are trustworthy, reliable, caring, friendly & house-proud housesitters. We will treat your beloved pets & home like they are our own. We are quiet and like to hang out with the animals and rest ...We are non-smokers and only sit non-smoking homes for health reasons. We prefer secure homes as we need to feel safe and keep your beloved pets safe.We adore animals & will treat them kindly & with respect. If they have special needs we understand that and can discuss your needs. We have extensive experience caring for cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, chickens, chicks, some farm animals, birds, fish & gardens. We are happy to consider reptiles (secured where necessary obviously! :-) ) and all other cuddly/crazy critters.Unfortunately, we can't care for cats anymore (unless they are hairless) as Melissa developed an allergy to cat hair ! :-(Melissa has a current working with vulnerable people check (full background & police check). Andrew has a current police check & security clearance through his work in the government. We have previous police checks, through Govt careers & neighbourhood watch (Previous NHW Area Coordinators). Melissa has RSPCA experience where she investigated animal cruelty and helped protect animals in danger. We take the care of animals very seriously, we know how much they are loved and need to be looked after.Housesitting written reference available and multiple housesitting referees happy to speak with you :-). **PLEASE READ BELOW RE FAMILY HOUSE-SITS IF YOU PREFER NO CHILDREN****Although our children are respectful, love animals and have done many successful house-sits with us, we understand that some people prefer no children. One of us adults are able to do occasional house-sits without the kids, so are available for house-sits which request no children.**We hope to hear from you.Warm regards,Melissa & Andrew

Hi there, I am in my early thirties and have lots of pet sitting and house sitting experience. I absolutely love looking after cats and dogs and apart from pet sitting, I have also volunteered at my local animal shelter in the past. I have had a wonderful time thus far, looking after some of the most adorable pets in Melbourne and would like to continue doing so till I foster or adopt pets of my own. In the meantime, I am happy to take on short term assignments as well as those that span over a couple of months. I work close to Melbourne CBD and hence, would need to consider that commute when looking for house sits (unless it is on the weekend). You can rest assured that your beloved fur babies and house will be in good hands while you are away. Happy to provide references!

Hi, I'm Dan. I'm a 34 year old honest, reliable, homebody who loves dogs.I began house sitting and dog minding three years ago, when I looked after a beautiful labrador for two months while her owners were overseas. After a few years of house sitting occasionally, I'm now full time and loving being able to spend time with some fun dogs and having the freedom to live a more relaxed, healthy lifestyle.I'm experienced with a range of small to large breeds, from Toy Poodles to Rhodesian Ridgebacks. I will happily give your dog plenty of love and attention - I love going for long walks, playing games like tug-of-war, giving lots of pats, snuggling on the couch and I don't mind having dogs sleep on my bed if that's what they're used to.I'm mature, clean and tidy, and am a non-smoker. I'm not much of a party animal, and prefer quiet nights at home catching up on my favourite TV shows or working on my laptop.I'm able to provide a police check and references from previous house sits. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions, I'm happy to answer them!
We are a recently retired, non-smoking, clean living couple who enjoy all aspects of home renovation including routine maintenance and gardening. We have renovated and sold homes our entire married life. We now have time and wish to do more travel within Australia and, whilst new to house sitting, can see that this is a 'win-win' situation ie the home owner has their property and pets cared for and we get to see a new area relatively cheaply. Over the years we have had our own cats, dogs and poultry. We now look after our son's English Springer Spaniel when he and his family are away. We also have Police Clearances available - necessary for our previous work.We look forward to starting this new and exciting period in our lives.
Hi Everyone! We are a kind, friendly and quiet couple who are looking to house sit to save for a campervan to travel around Australia. While we are only just starting our journey on happyhousesitters we have had previous house sitting experiences (including taking care of pets and garden) and can provide some wonderful references on request. We are non-smokers and have police checks available.
I love animals, especially cats. I am mid 50's, single, non-smoking professional currently living in Darwin. Having owned a house myself, I am conscious of the care and security needed in keeping a house maintained. I have grown up with pets and had my own. I believe that I would be able to take great care of yours. I am wanting to escape the oppressive heat of Darwin over the Xmas holiday period. I am available during the Christmas School holidays (15/12/17 - 23/1/1 for house sitting and can provide pet sitting references. I have current police clearance. I am a responsible, reliable and considerate person, and would take excellent care of your pets and property.
We are two retired guys who are purchasing a house on the Gold Coast and will rent it out for a year or so to drive around Australia. We would love to house and/or pet sit for other people on the way while they enjoy their time away. We have rented houses around NSW and Qld and have always treated them as if they were our own as is testament by the excellent references we have been given by the Property managers, and this is the way we would look after any properties that we are lucky enough to sit. We have had extensive experience with both domestic animals...cats, dogs, birds etc. after having owned all of these at some stage...one of which is shown in the pic I have uploaded...as well as farm animals whilst owning acreage in NSW and Qld.We are both extremely clean & tidy people, non smokers and like to ride push bikes, play tennis and go to sporting events like AFL, Rugby League, tennis etc.
HelloMy husband and I are a retired English couple whose son is now living in Melbourne Victoria. We want to explore Australia with a view of emmigrating to Australia and we see house sitting as a way in which we could do this. Looking after someones house and or pets would help us get a real feel of the area. We have experience in looking after dogs and cats having had our own and looked after family members pets when they go on holidays. We are in our late 50's early 60's and are fit. We love walking and are houseproud, so would look after your home. My husband is very practical, a handyman around the house able to solve most maintainance issues. We could supply references if required however, communication between us, potential sitters and house owners will put both our minds at rest..We will be available from November 2017 until July 2018.We would be very interested in a housesit over the Xmas New Year that would be open to us inviting some of our family to stay over. We would be very responsible and respectful of your property and pets at this time.Roger and PhyllisI have attached below a character reference from my colleague at my place of work for 23 years. To whom it may concern.I have known Phyllis Austin in excess of 23 years both as a work colleague and as a friend. She was employed by Tesco Stores Limited in various managerial roles including Customer Service Manager responsible for the well being and training of over 120 staff, before ending up as a Compliance Manager in Newton Abbot store,This role involved ensuring that the store remained safe and legal at all times. This meant liaising with the rest of the management team from Store Manager down to make sure that they completed all of their legal training such as Health and Safety, Fire and Pest Control.During my time working with Phyllis she was always diligent and thorough and had a way of ensuring that everything was completed to tight timescales through her manner, encouraging others to do their best, and coaching/training whenever necessary. Part of her duties included being in charge of the store as a duty manager, and this task she completed with ease.I would have no hesitation in recommending her for any role that she applied for as I know that her integrity and honesty are second to none.If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.Paul FosterCustomer Experience ManagerNewton Abbot 2920This is a confidential email. We are an Irish couple who have been travelling to Australia every second year since 2009, usually spending 4-5 months there at a time. Our son, his wife and son live in Melbourne and, of course, visiting them is our main reason for travelling to Australia. On our previous trips we have taken part in WWOOFING. This is volunteering to work on various farms and properties around Australia in return for food and accommodation. Details can be found on the website..www.woof.com.au. We have had really positive experiences doing this and have met some wonderful people. Some properties we return to time and time again. It is a wonderful way to travel and see the wonderful Australian countryside. We have owned our own home here in Ireland for the past 35 years. We are both very houseproud, responsible and reliable and would take excellent care of your home, pets and property. We love the company of animals and have owned several cats over the years. We also have plenty of experience with dogs and farm animals. We live in a rural area in the west of Ireland. We will be available for house sitting from October 22nd 2017 until mid February 2018. We can supply references upon request.
Hi, I am a 55-year-old professional looking for house sitting opportunities in Melbourne and nearby rural areas. I have extensive experience house-sitting and can provide references from many house-sits (25 sits to-date) as well as a national police check.I own a family home in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and have owned a number of homes over the past 20 years. My family has always had pets - dogs, cats, rabbits, fish - and caring for yours and showing them the appropriate amount of care and affection would be a pleasure. My profession is writing and I have a flexible work schedule that allows me to spend my days either working from home or from a city-based office depending on requirements and my preference. That means I can often be around the house during the day to keep pets company and ensure your home is occupied from a security perspective. I have worked for the one company for 20 years - which I guess demonstrates a stable (not boring!) professional life.I am a non-smoker, light drinker, clean living guy who likes a quiet lifestyle. I'm also a bit of a fitness fanatic, which means walking energetic dogs is a joy. I'm very security conscious and like to keep things clean and tidy. I'm quite comfortable with pets that need lots of attention having looked after a Jack Russell in his senior years with daily medication, a strict food regime and plenty of pampering. Our family cat also likes plenty of attention - but only when it suits her! You will find me to be a reliable house-sitter who is very respectful of your property and committed to exceeding your expectations.Look forward to hearing from you.Philip
IntroductionWe are a mature and friendly retired couple, professional, practical and resilient in new situations, and look forward to new homes and pets to care for. We are non smokers, tidy, active, gardeners, and keen to explore new communities. We have already enjoyed 5 house and pet sits both in Australia and overseas with another organisation in the last year, with excellent references. We appreciate Happy House Sitters because it it has such a range of Australia wide clients, and is easy to access. We would take care of your home and pets, as we would our own, and keep them safe and happy until you return. Why we want to house sitHouse and pet sitting is appealing because of the built in adventure and novelty of such diverse opportunities. We have enjoyed much travel in Australia and overseas, ship, caravan, camping, coast, desert and bush, but would look forward to the interest of connecting with the everyday life in new communities. Many sits give insight to the places less travelled, rather than big tourism locations, and Mike is a keen historian where ever we are.0ur creatures are an essential part of life, but the extra additions to the 'family', "step grand-dogs,cats..and one day hopefully, alpacas!!'', will have all the love and care we can give in the allocated time! What we bring to the assignment / relevant experienceWe have lived in city and country, in town houses and on acreages, and had donkeys, dogs, cats, chooks, and sheep! Our experience in education, country and city communities, gardening, house repairs, and dealing with the emergencies of life, makes us useful Sitters! Having a good sense of humor helps too.We have police checks, and house sitting references. We currently have an old beagle/terrier x, Maggie May, a dear rescue dog, who, as we speak, is snuffling her way through seaweed and beach sand! We love our entertaining chooks, and their produce! Harry the Cat sadly left us after 12 years of slothful existence! Do contact us if your place and pets seem like a good match!
Hello! We are a healthy, conscious, respectful, open-minded, calm and non-smoking/drinking couple in our mid-twenties. My husband Myles is an athlete and I have recently paused my studies, due to the arrival of our first baby! Animals have been a big part of both of our lives and we love connecting with them!We own our own little home in the countryside of The Macedon Ranges, Victoria. We find that we thrive off movement and experiencing new places and energy! Our abode is currently on Airbnb, so as hosts, we understand the anxiety that can arise when thinking about other people in your home. We have 5 star reviews/references as both hosts and guests on Airbnb, so please let me know if you would like the link! We are looking forward to speaking with you! Warm Regards, Taiyla & Myles
I'm a 37 year old media analyst from Melbourne who has the better part of 2016 house/dog sitting across Melbourne and Hobart and would love to keep the ball rolling. Houseproud, respectful, and responsible, I can be relied upon to treat your home and pets as if they were my own. Most experienced with dogs and cats, I am firmly of the 'pets as family' school when it comes to furry companions. I'm known for taking dogs on long walks and talking to them as if they were people. Very comfortable with active dogs, I have the most experience with staffy's and crosses of similar size. Growing up in regional Victoria with family in dairy farming also means I know my way around a farm, although perhaps not to the point of driving a tractor.Having wintered in Tasmania, I am returning to Victoria in October and am looking for housesits in the greater Melbourne area.
I am a single, mature aged, non-smoking gentleman with experience in house and pet sitting. As a recently retired school teacher, I am looking for an opportunity to extend myself and broaden my travelling experience by living in an area for longer than a fleeting visit as is usually the case when taking a holiday from work.I enjoy gardening, reading, cooking, walking, and recently, craft creations. Whilst not having my own pets these days, I have had the rather usual menagerie of a cat, dogs, fish, guinea pigs, white mice and chooks.I have a reference and photos which are attached.I look forward to be of assistance.RegardsRichard
My name is Liz and I am missing having my dog, but I am ready to enjoy looking after yours. I am also fine with cats. I am reliable and honest and have a police check. I would love to sit a dog on the Mornington peninsula, where I grew up. I like having time in Melbourne and visiting my adult children who live there. Short visits are fine. I have good housesitting references and I used to run a charitable foundation. I am clean and tidy and like to leave the house as it was when you left. I have been enjoying time in Melbourne and walking the dogs. I love bushwalking so I am happy walking your dogs and I enjoy photography so there is always something to photograph in your area. I am basically happy to spend time in your home with your pet as I am a contributor to ABC open and I write and take photos for the website. This means I spend time at home with your pets.
