  • Central Coast, Port Stephens, North Coast, South Coast, Wollongong & Illawarra, North West Slopes, South, Spencer Gulf, West Coast, Hobart, Burnie, Devonport, Rural/Regional Tas, Geelong, Otway Ranges/ Great Ocean Rd

Someone you can absolutely count on! 38 references available.

Hello, I am Clare, 64, retired ABC radio broadcaster and experienced house/pet-sitter of many years (see references for details). Although I have cared for a delightful variety of farm and domestic animals in the past, my preference these days is to care for cats, or other not too demanding or boisterous animals.

I lead a simple life - studying, walking, swimming and seeking to maintain good health in aesthetically pleasing environments within 10 mins of the sea. To this end, I alternate between the coastal areas of Tasmania (Oct - May only) and mainland Australia, often returning to the same homes at the ongoing request of their owners.

Tamworth NSW is the one exception however, where I am always glad to visit, due to previous associations there.

My home bases are Mona Vale, NSW and South Arm,Tasmania.
I have numerous references available and all referees are happy to be contacted personally.

Megan

  • Geelong, Otway Ranges/ Great Ocean Rd

Hi! My name is Megan and I'm a respectful and reliable 32 year old school teacher and aged care assistant. I now have close to 12 months of house sitting and pet sitting experience in places with and without animals. The animals I have looked after are dogs, cats, chickens, worms and fish, and being a country girl, I grew up with chickens, guinea pigs, dogs, cows and sheep.

I have been house sitting on the Bellarine Peninsula for the past seven months in a row and am absolutely loving this beautiful part of the world! I'm very flexible and adventurous so I'm happy moving around and trying new things. I LOVE dogs (and other animals) but haven't been able to get my own yet, so I love the idea of house and pet sitting.

If you have any questions about me please feel free to get in contact!

Trish

  • Melbourne, Geelong

Experienced sitter looking for long or short term house sits in Melbourne.

Hi there,

My name is Trish, and I'm the ideal choice for caring for your home and pets whilst you are away.

I am a 38 yr old, non-smoking female who is responsible, attentive and honest.

I spent most of my twenties and early thirties travelling the world. I see house-sitting as a great solution for seeing Australia and saving my pennies for my own home.

I have a fair amount of house-sitting experience having looked after and cared for people's homes and pets in Sydney for a year in 2014, with proven references, and also in Auckland in 2017 and in the last year in Melbourne.

A few helpful things to know about me:
- I'm an animal lover and grew up with cats, dogs, pigs and guinea pigs
- I generally work full time Mon-Fri
- I am well-traveled and spent 3.5 years working on luxury super yachts so have a high standard of cleanliness, always leaving the homes I look after in great appearance
- My friends would most likely describe me as diplomatic, loyal, responsible, honest and caring

When you choose me as your sitter, you can rest assured that your home will be well looked after, your plants will continue to flourish and your pets will be loved as if my own.

Don't hesitate to ask me any questions. Please let me know if you would like to chat further and I can call you. I think house sitting is a wonderful idea and I look forward to meeting amazing people and furry friends along the way, and being able to help in whatever way I can.

I have references and police check on file and more endorsements here:

Thanks
Trish

  • TAS, Melbourne, SE Vic, Geelong, Grampians, Perth, S. Western

We retired in 2017 and chose to come to Australia and New Zealand for 18 months until June this year. We love the outdoors and are avid hikers and birders. We traveled in New Zealand for six months and did three house sits there. Two of the three house sits were requests to us as a mature couple while we found the third location that fit with our travel schedule. Our references are through another house sitting site but can be provided.

We have been traveling Australia for 6 months so far and will house sit in the country or in the city. We are in TAS through February and will be back to VIC for and March. We have done 3 house sits so far in NSW, SA and Tasmania. Two owner references are on this house sitting site.

We are a very tidy, non-smoking, healthy and responsible couple that will take good care of your pets, property and garden. Before leaving the United States, we house sat for one friend with two cats (one was a very timid cat) and another with a black lab that we walked daily. In New Zealand, we took care of dogs, cats, fish, chooks and a cockatiel (see our endorsements). We have thoroughly enjoyed our house sits so far. The dogs loved their play time and walks. The dogs, cats and even the cockatiel loved their cuddles and neck rubs. Of course, meeting some of the locals has also been a pleasure.

With our stays at Airbnb's, the reviews are all positive where the hosts mention how we have left their place tidy; taken good care of their Airbnb and welcome us back anytime.

While living in the United States, we had an organic vegetable garden where we grew a variety of vegetables from seed. We also created a flower garden to attract the bees, butterflies and birds. Since we are not able to have a veggie garden while on the road, checking out farmers markets during our travels have been on our agenda whenever available.

We are having a great time as we leisurely travel “Down Under.”
Cheers!
Ann and David

SE suburbs, SE Vic, Geelong, Grampians, Otway Ranges/ Great Ocean Rd, Perth N.W suburbs, Perth S.W suburbs, Esperance, S. West

We are a family of three, Tracey (50 y.o), Steve (54 y.o) and Tilly, a five y.o. miniature schnauzer.
Tilly is well behaved, extremely social with other dogs and people, does not shed hair/fur and travels where-ever we travel.
As we are both semi-retired, we can devote our time at your home to provide the love and care your pet deserves.
With properties of our own, we are extremely house-proud and treat everyone's property with the utmost care and respect.
We are non-smokers, non-drinkers who enjoy the outdoors, with activities that include gardening, swimming, paddling (outrigger canoes), walking and exploring new sights, whilst meeting many interesting people. We consider ourselves as 'minimalists', who endeavour to live without too much 'stuff' and value the environment.
During 2017 and into 2018, we resided on Norfolk Island, where we managed a B&B and cared for a beautiful home on a 3 acre property.
We completely understand that your task in selecting the correct person/people to care for the things you cherish is complex and time-consuming. Therefore, current police checks, any additional information and references are available upon request.

  • Macedon Ranges, Geelong, Otway Ranges/ Great Ocean Rd

I am a quiet, gentle, honest person who loves animals and natural beauty. I enjoy walking and being outdoors, sitting in the garden and listening to the birds singing. I am creative, having studied painting and drawing and I also like to write.

After moving out of home and living in country Victoria for five years, I travelled to the UK for 15 months (where I did a three-week house sit looking after two boxer dogs and a cat) and now have moved back home to Melbourne where I live with my mum, dad and brother. I miss having pets but thought it wiser to not take any on if I am not sure where I want to live in the future. At the moment I enjoy the creatures that visit our garden and have 'adopted' a little blackbird who likes to follow me when I am outside for the treats I give him.

In the past my pets have included budgerigars, a canary who must have escaped from his home who was flying around our place, I managed to catch him and he became part of the household after no one claimed him, a Brittany Spaniel dog, a "rescue" dog and a rabbit. I like patting the cats around the neighbour hood and have house sat for a relative with a cat a number of times. My 11-year old nephew has a cockatiel that I look after when the family go away.

I would like to try house sitting in country and coastal areas of Victoria so I have the opportunity for peace and quiet from the busyness of Melbourne to reflect and gain inspiration for writing. I like having animals for company and enjoy caring for them. When I had my own little place outside Melbourne in the Macedon Ranges, I put many hours of hard work into the garden and interior decoration so that it was a beautiful home and special place to be. I would show the same respect and care in any house or pet sitting position.

  • Melb. Inner suburbs, Melb. NE suburbs, Melb. NW suburbs, Macedon Ranges, North Western, Lakes area, Ballarat, Geelong

Ready for a move but am uncertain where that will take me, I've enjoyed house sitting in a range of locations getting a feel for the area.
Currently working from home, though usually visit clients one or two afternoons a week.
For the most part I enjoy exploring new areas on foot, though I do have a car as it is required for my work.
Love most animals of the furry kind, but do not currently have my own pet due to Landlord restrictions.
I am familiar with caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and birds, having had my own pets in the past and helping extended family with theirs.
I look forward to caring for your house and pets in a manner in which they are accustomed.
I have been house sitting since July 2017. I am enjoying spending time with new furry friends and getting to know some new neighbourhoods.
I have a current Working with Children check, which includes regular police checks.

Hello, my name is Simon, I'm a single 48 year old professional, non smoker who is clean and tidy and house proud, inside and out.

I have house sat for friends and friends of theirs, which included, garden maintenance, looking after their pets and decorating / painting (they chose the colour/s).

I'm currently looking at house sitting for financial reasons (separated) and undecided where I want to reside permanently.

Would pay for utilities in your absence.

Excellent references are available on request.

Hope to hear from you.

Gerard & Ashley

  • Melb. NE suburbs, Bendigo, Macedon Ranges, North Eastern, Ballarat, Geelong, Otway Ranges/ Great Ocean Rd

I'm Gerard, 33, married to Ashley, 22. We're both young professionals living in Elsternwick, Melbourne.

We're looking to house sit in towns close to Melb or outer Melb suburbs e.g. Kyneton, Castlemaine, Belgrave, Sassafras, etc. We want to move to one of these areas sometime in the next couple of years so we want to try and test them out by house sitting.

We do a mix of work from home and work in the CBD. One of us would be working from home on most days so we wouldn't always be having long commutes and leaving your home/pets unattended.

We love animals so more than happy to take care of them. We have our own dog, Maggie, she's a 9 year old quiet girl who is fine with other animals (she's fine around cats, birds, chooks, goats). Would love to bring her with us but can arrange for her to stay with friends it that doesn't work at your place.

We're active, tidy and reliable people. We'd be keen to go out walking and explore your area when house sitting.

Coralie & Samuel

  • Geelong

Hello! Welcome to our profile!

Ideally looking for longer sits of about 3+ weeks in the Geelong area.

About us:

We are newly married and have recently returned from a lengthy honeymoon jaunt around Europe. During our travels we developed a real love for meeting new people and exploring new places. Despite needing to re-join the daily grind (we are saving for our first home), we are hoping to preserve some of that "traveling magic" through house sitting.

We are a reliable, resourceful, friendly and flexible couple with a genuine love for all living creatures. We are non-smokers and both have full-time professional jobs. Sam is patient, creative and practical. He enjoys playing his guitar, completing woodwork projects and is a bit of a wizard when it comes to solving any household dilemmas. I am observant, kind and enthusiastic. I am fascinated by people's stories, enjoy having a laugh and really try to find the beauty in life's little moments.

Animal Experience:

For us, furry, feathery and scaly friends are the epitome of joy. We both grew up surrounded by animals and have experience caring for dogs, cats, chickens, horses, cows, guinea pigs, rabbits, ferrets and fish. We have experience managing complex medication regimes and adhering to strict pet diets. We have also previously participated in dog obedience classes with our own pups and feel confident in our dog handling skills.

We recently had to put our much loved Kelpie down after a long battle with a complex and chronic illness. He was our best mate and being without him has been incredibly difficult for us. We can truly relate to and respect how much your pets mean to you and how stressful it can be to leave them in someone else's care. Rest assured we would take your (and your pets) trust in us very seriously and ensure that your time apart is as stress-free as possible. From the very big to the very small, we love them all!

Gardening experience:

Because we both grew up on properties (and have since rented properties with gardens) we are not unfamiliar with gardening. We know how to plant, take care of weeds, mow lawns, water plants ect. We are happy to partake in some light gardening if required.

House sitting experience:

We are very clean, tidy and respectful. Our aim would be to attentively adhere to any house rules and leave your place as we found it. So far we have had many wonderful housesitting experiences across Geelong and West Melbourne. Please refer to our endorsements, references available on request.

We would love the chance to talk with you about your needs and the prospect of a possible house sit. We are happy to answer any questions you may have and meet up in person prior to your trip if possible/preferred!

DECEMBER 2018, NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE
Hi, my name is Clare and I am an artist. I was an art teacher in TAFE and high schools until I retired. I have been living in Tasmania for the last three years and have just moved back to the mainland. I am hoping to settle around the Ballarat area. So I need a temporary base while I look around and try to buy a property. I have been a home owner for the last 25 years and have looked after dogs, cats, chickens, guinea pigs, fish and an axolotl! I have been an active member of the Huon Valley Dog Walking association. .(Unfortunately my much loved dog has recently died.). I have house sat before when I initially moved down to Tasmania, and can supply references from this family, and the real estate agent who has just sold my house will verify the condition in which I maintained it, so you can be assured that I will care for your house and animals and garden with the utmost diligence. I am available from mid October, early November. . I am hoping to find a housesit reasonably close to Ballarat.

We are dog lovers and have enjoyed dogs of our own in the past but are currently without any animal company. I am a 30 year old non smoking woman and work full time as Head of Graphic Design for Tango Group International based in Moorabbin Victoria.
I am extremely conscious of the care and security needed to maintain a home. I have grown up with dogs and cats and many more smaller animals such as rabbits, Guini pigs and birds. I am available for housesitting and am happy to provide more reference upon request, as well as police checks or any other relevant checks. I am a hard working, responsible, caring and considerate person and would take excellent care of your home, pets and property.

Sam is a 31 year old Entertainment Rigger and is based in Melbourne, He is an extremely hard worker with a positive attitude, he has experience in looking after other peoples pets mostly dogs and helping others keep their homes clean and secure. He has grown up with animals and has always had a dog as long as he can remember. We can not go for a walk without him patting all dogs he sees along the way.

We regularly look after a house in Ocean Grove and their dog Della for Margie and Gream Mclean. They also have a private AIR BNB and we have been helping them out on occasions with change overs ….cleaning the apartment, bathrooms and kitchen and changing the linen in the bedrooms. We love their Dog Della and she gets very excited everytime we go back to housesit and look after her.

We both find it a huge privilege to be chosen to look after others homes and animals and feel lucky to get the opportunity when we can.
We think we would be the perfect candidates to look after your homes and animals and they would be in great care.
We take these jobs very seriously and always do our very best at maintaining a clean and happy home.

  • Hobart, Melb. Inner suburbs, Melb. NE suburbs, Geelong, Otway Ranges/ Great Ocean Rd

Hi Happy House Resident, my name is Ros. I am a 62 year old widow currently in transition from Bendigo and ?? Tasmania...(I think?? Your part of the world may be better still). I am able to be mobile as my daughter is now studying in Melbourne and we sadly lost our own Collie/Koolie cross at 14 years old just 2017. I have my 2-3acre Bendigo home up sale. I miss both our dog and our chooks very much... and my 25 yo son in Europe and daughter now in Melbourne. I love being fit and healthy through using my bicycle as a go anywhere machine, running in the bush, Chi Gung and gardening ... and of course eating healthy vegetables. I currently volunteer when I can with both FreewheelingFun (recycling bicycle program) and Bendigo Regional Food Alliance. I still do a few small landscape designs with a focus on food gardening.. (Livinglightlydesign.com.au). I dabble in crafts and music. I joined Happy House Sitters only June 2018 having house sat 5 months over 18months on Bruny Island Tasmania before eventually buying into the amazing landscape and people community down there. Just 5 acres with no house. I have secured 1 reference so far for you. I had a house where new residents had only arrived 6 weeks prior but had a preplanned excursion taking them away for 6 weeks... lots of gardening, two gorgeous dogs (2yo Koolie dog "Algie" and 12yo rescue corgie cross "Dottie") and tidying of emptied container contents!! Then I sat 2 1/2 weeks for a younger family with 2x sheep, 2x ponies, 2x pigs, about 14 chooks, and 2yo "Skipper" black kelpie cross. Thirdly an off grid passive solar house on 8 acres later returning to help with the young mum with her 7 week old pigeon pair human twins whilst dad had time to mourn the loss of his mum. Lastly a 2yo house and two Shitzu pups. This was an amazing house on the beach front but was for sale giving me yet a new challenge of keeping it absolutely pristine ready for inspection!! It SOLD!! Since joining Happy House sitters I have secured two new sits.. one at Barwon Heads and another in Clifton Hill. I prefer minimum of two weeks. Good luck with your search and holidays. Cheers Ros

  • ACT, Melb. Inner suburbs, Melb. NE suburbs, Melb. SE suburbs, Bendigo, Macedon Ranges, North Eastern, Shepparton & Central North, SE Vic, Ballarat, Geelong

I am new to house sitting and am looking for a way to have an alternative holiday while being helpful.
As someone who has lived in many different houses, owned farm animals and domestic animals, I am well-experienced to care for your home and animals. I was a breeder of Australian Mist cats for a few years in NSW, owned border collies and also had cashmere goats and a horse in central Victoria.
I am security-conscious and careful to lock windows, doors and gates to ensure pet safety and home security. I keep a tidy house, and would keep yours in the condition I found it or better.
I am a working mum with one primary-aged child. I am a non-smoker and vegetarian. I am kind to animals, communicate well with their owners and, if necessary, the vet. I have passed all previously required police checks, have government baseline security vetting and am happy to supply character references. My availability is generally limited to ACT school holidays.

Hello Happy House owners,

I have been housesitting for friends & family and through referrals for several years. I have recently joined several housesitting sites in the hope of connecting with some lovely new homeowners that are looking for house minding and/or pet care.

I have looked after all kinds of homes and animals, from domestic pets in urban homes, to farm animals on small rural properties.

I have two teenaged children who often accompany me on housesits. They are both loving & respectful towards all the animals and the homes that we care for. We are a quiet, friendly family that genuinely enjoy spending time with all the lovely animals we meet. I have always had wonderful feedback from my homeowners that their homes have been left wonderfully clean and their pets have felt happy and secure.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to view my references.

Kind regards

Natasha

Jan & Peter

  • Melbourne, Geelong

We are looking forward to house sitting in Victoria because we have two of our children living there and 4 gorgeous grandchildren.
Although we live in Tasmania we do have a reliable ferry link which we use to bring our car to Melbourne.
A little information about Peter and Jan Green:
We are non smokers and currently run a very successful AirBNB in our home. This is very busy between November and April. Through our business we have met many great people from all over the world. We have in fact been very successful and have received the award of Super Host on 9 consecutive occasions. This is quite a prestigious award in the business.
We are very keen gardeners and work hard in that area. Peter prefers the vegie garden, while Jan has interests in both areas. Jan actually has a "picking garden" and proudly sells many beautiful bunches to a local charity shop.
Peter built a 28 foot sailing boat for the family use quite a few years ago and we had 30 years of enjoyment on our beautiful waterways.
Our overseas travel has taken us mainly to Asia and the U.K. in order to visit our family while they worked in these countries. We still have a son who is a mining Engineer in Jakarta with a family base in Bangkok for his family of 3 children and his wife.
We have a son who has just established a business as an architect at Ocean Grove. He has a wife and 2 children. Our daughter lives at Northcote. She has 2 children and is a single widowed Mum. She is a Heritage Consultant, maintaining the grand old buildings of Melbourne as a project manager for the company.
At home Peter and I are very active in an organisation called U3A. It offers the opportunity to further the general education of older people. We have each had a role in running courses.
We are keen animal lovers and we have a very placid Labrador named Vada, a very loving but lazy house cat named Toodles together with an Avery of canaries. Walking Vada twice a day on our local beach keeps us physically active as well. We are very lucky to have a great neighbor who loves to look after our pets when we are away.
Peter is a volunteer driver for Cancer Council, transporting patients to and from hospital for treatment.
Jan volunteers in a church shop and bakes cakes for sale in the shop.
We are quite willing to obtain police checks if our hosts desire. This is our first involvement in House Sitting and no doubt have lots to learn as time goes on.
Regards from Peter and Jan Green.

I am a graphic designer with my own business, who mainly works from home these days. I am also a mother of 2 beautiful kids. My daughter is traveling the world and my son is living with his partner. In 2014, I separated from my partner of many years and hence welcomed the offer to care for a friends home and her aged puppy whilst being away on photographic assignments, which I under took for the 6 months and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, so hence a House Sitter I became... I am a non smoker and extremely house proud and would care for and appreciate your home as I do my own. Animals, totally adore them, I recently lost both my horse and my puppy of 17 years, both of which have left me shattered and heartbroken, so being a surrogate mother for whatever period of time would be wonderful.

I have owned and maintained homes for over 30 years. I am a mother and business professional, with a strong understanding of people, loyalty, commitment and more importantly responsibility.

I have been house sitting now for the past 26 months, with 9 assignments under my belt, some of which are repeat clients.
I also run an airbnb for one of my regular clients, while she is overseas... It's great, one meets some amazing people...It's like going overseas but they come to you!!!!!

I am more than happy to supply you references both professional and personal upon your request.

I look forward to meeting with you to discuss caring for your home and your extended family in your absence.

Janet & Larry

  • North Coast, Brisbane, South Eastern, Melbourne, Macedon Ranges, Geelong, Otway Ranges/ Great Ocean Rd

I have recently retired so I can spend more time writing, and travelling with my partner Larry. I was a Professor of Management, teaching for an Australian university. My partner Larry is Canadian/Australian and also a retired educator, as well as a Cordon Bleu trained cook and landscape gardener, who has built two houses. Our own homes have included two owner-built houses on acreage, and renovating others; inner city townhouses, plus owning and maintaining land.

Wherever we stay or housesit, we like to offer more than just caring for any precious pets or what was requested: in addition to any fur baby sitting we can cook, garden, do basic maintenance and jobs, and keep your neighbours happy with our presence.

We enjoy travelling, meeting people and immersing ourselves like a local; and housesitting gives us that opportunity. We both study and read a lot (writing, gastronomy, history, languages etc) and staying in a home environment allows us to do this in comfort, whilst enjoying many hours in the company of affectionate pets who are missing their family. We also enjoy gardening and this is another reason why housesitting suits our lifestyle.

We have experience house and pet (cats, dogs, rabbits, birds, chooks, goats) sitting in Australia, France and Canada, as well as having had several pets in our family (dogs, cats, goats, rabbits, hens and birds). We are non-smokers. Referees/references and recent police checks available.

I am a 27 year old Project Manager looking for opportunities to house sit in Melbourne (close to the CBD) during 2019. I arrived in December 2018 from the UK to spend a year working in Australia. Prior to starting a full time job I would really love to do some work experience/volunteer work but this is difficult to do whilst affording rent so the opportunity to house sit would make this possible. I’ve had one great experience house sitting so far and I really enjoyed having an animal to love and care for. My second pet sitting job starts on 23rd January but from 31st January I am available to help care for your home and animals.

I’m a big animal lover and hope to have my own pets when I can, so it would be great to look after any animals whilst house sitting. I am particularly good with dogs as I regularly dog sit my sisters cavalier king Charles and having a pet would really be a bonus for me. I love being outdoors too and gardening as well and would be happy to help with odd jobs.

Ideally I am seeking opportunities anywhere between 1- 3 weeks and I'd like to be close walking distance to public transport.

I’m a friendly, reliable, non smoker who is extremely house proud and I take great care in keeping my own home clean and tidy.

Please let me know if you have any queries or would like to meet me to see if I might be the right fit for your home and pets. I have a police check and I can provide a house sitting reference as well as character references from previous employers.

I hope you will consider me.

I am a professional freelance graphic designer. I work full-time from home.

I have been wanting to explore more of Australia's East Coast and after my lease is Victoria ended I thought why not now, as I am lucky enough to be able to take my work with me wherever I go.

I am 29, healthy, active and mature. I am a big animal lover and happy to care for and give attention to any animals on the property like they were my own and take care of any other house chores.

I enjoy getting outdoors for daily walks and swims and am happy to walk animals, care for plants etc.

Hi my name is Krystal. I have had some experience in housesitting for people I know in Geelong and Melbourne over the past few years and have enjoyed doing so, so thought it would be great to seek out some more opportunities. I'm currently living at home with family while I continue studying but I enjoy having my own space. I am more than happy to look after animals. I have looked after dogs and rabbits so far but would enjoy cats and others as well. I keep things quite clean. I can provide references upon request.
