I currently live and work in Melbourne, living in a share household. I house sit as I also enjoy having time to myself. I also love caring for pets. Over the past years I have sat on many occasions with many homeowners asking me back to sit for them.

I will take really good care of your pets. I genuinely enjoy both cats and dogs. I Like taking dogs for walks and offering lots of affection. Same for cats too...except the walking.

Will also take good care of your property and leave it in an excellent condition.

I have excellent references. A police check. I don't smoke.
I am a friendly respectful guy who is very clean and tidy
Cheers, Patrick

My name is Rose and I am a mature age PhD student. I am currently living between Sydney, Lismore and the Gold Coast while I complete a professional Doctorate researching early colonial history (Sydney and Parramatta). My husband and dog live on a sheep farm in central NSW and our children are married with lives of their own. Between us we have 5 granddaughters who we adore.

The reason I do house-sitting is because I love animals and miss my own. I get much pleasure caring for the beautiful pets during my time in their life and it is lovely to receive unconditional love while I am doing my research. I enjoy the new experiences house-sitting gives me, and have been inspired by some of the lovely environments I have stayed in. One of the benefits is making lots of new friends and becoming a regular carer for those who love travelling.

About me, I have always been a home owner, do not smoke and am extremely clean and tidy. I am very security conscious, not into parties and take very good care of the houses/apartments while I am in them. I have references and a Police clearance for your consideration.

I am happy to chat with you and also meet in person to say hi to your pet/s and allow you the opportunity to discuss your needs and requirements.

Thanks kindly Rose

Hello Home Owners!

This year I am focusing on house-sitting around the Toowoomba area; some areas in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast, and the Gold Coast . Petrol costs too much to go further afield, unfortunately.

Being a pensioner, and a retired teacher,I decided House-Sitting was my only way of having a break/ holiday from home. I have done several successful years of pet and home-sitting ..all with dogs, cats, birds, fish , etc., and even a pet python. I am police-checked a few times over [ for volunteer work], and hold a current Blue Card. I carry a pet first aid kit in my car.

I am a keen gardener, and cook..you may find a meal in your fridge or freezer on your return.I am used also to looking after pools.

I am an inveterate animal-lover, with a rural back-ground. I do not smoke , and have the occasional Guinness. I don't throw wild parties.. nor even sedate dinner-parties, as meagre pensions don't run to that!!!! I bring my own mobile larder, laptop, printer, mobile internet modem for my emails , and mobile phone with unlimited calls, so I do not need much, apart from some space in the fridge and the freezer, and access to wifi for my web searches. I have my own transport..a battered Falcon wagon with three dog restraints in the back.

Currently, I do not have any pets of my own, as my beloved Westie, Cailan, passed away last year.

Hi pet lovers and lovely home owners,
We are trustworthy, reliable, caring, friendly & house-proud housesitters.
We will treat your beloved pets & home like they are our own. We are quiet and like to hang out with the animals and rest ...
We are non-smokers and only sit non-smoking homes for health reasons. We prefer secure homes as we need to feel safe and keep your beloved pets safe.
We adore animals & will treat them kindly & with respect. If they have special needs we understand that and can discuss your needs.
We have extensive experience caring for cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, chickens, chicks, some farm animals, birds, fish & gardens. We are happy to consider reptiles (secured where necessary obviously! :-) ) and all other cuddly/crazy critters.
Unfortunately, we can't care for cats anymore (unless they are hairless) as Melissa developed an allergy to cat hair ! :-(
Melissa has a current working with vulnerable people check (full background & police check). Andrew has a current police check & security clearance through his work in the government. We have previous police checks, through Govt careers & neighbourhood watch (Previous NHW Area Coordinators).
Melissa has RSPCA experience where she investigated animal cruelty and helped protect animals in danger. We take the care of animals very seriously, we know how much they are loved and need to be looked after.
Housesitting written reference available and multiple housesitting referees happy to speak with you :-).
**PLEASE READ BELOW RE FAMILY HOUSE-SITS IF YOU PREFER NO CHILDREN**
**Although our children are respectful, love animals and have done many successful house-sits with us, we understand that some people prefer no children. One of us adults are able to do occasional house-sits without the kids, so are available for house-sits which request no children.**
We hope to hear from you.
Warm regards,
Melissa & Andrew

We are a retired, non-smoking, quiet living couple.

We are well-traveled and when we stay in a property anywhere in the world we look after it properly and leave it in very good order, clean and tidy.

Although we are UK based we are always looking for opportunities to stay in Australia.
We have considerable experience of house/pet sitting with cats mainly, but also with other small animals, here in the UK and in Australia. We also had cats for over 35 years!
We have, of course got references and a police check.

Currently we are available for the following period:

Mid-Dec 2017 to mid-Jan 2018 (4/5 weeks) when we will be extending an already planned Oct/Nov visit to our daughter who lives in Sydney. The tickets are booked and paid!

Lucy and Murray house-sat our 2 very precious schnoodles for 4 nights recently (July 2015). I couldn’t have asked for better sitters! They visited beforehand to meet our dogs and I immediately felt very comfortable that Lucy and Murray would take great care of our dogs. They were very dedicated to looking after the dogs and respectful of our apartment, leaving it spic and span. Our dogs were very happy in their company as Lucy and Murray happily followed the daily routine we requested, including letting them sleep in their bed with them. I will definitely ask them to sit for us again.

In March 2015 we embarked on a 5 week trip and was looking for someone to housesit and care for our dog and rabbit. Fortunately Lucy & Murray were able to help us out.
Lucy and Murray kept in contact throughout our trip with updates on our elderly dog Hank who required some additional care with medicine. We were very happy to also receive
photos of Murray and Hank together!
The house was left immaculately with not a thing out of place. In fact the only evidence that we found of their stay was some food in the cupboards — they even left the wheelie bin
empty!
Lucy and Murray were fantastic housesitters and we would be more than happy to recommend them to anyone.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

Lucy & Murray of Avalon Sydney NSW were house sitters at my home x 6 weeks September & early October 2015.

I have 4 dogs and it seems, during my absence, they loved them to death ! the dogs totally fell in love with Murray and Murray with the dogs. Although the criteria was to walk the dogs once a day, my neighbours tell me they often saw my sitters walking the dogs twice a day.

On my return, the house was kept in fine order, very tidy and clean and the garden was taken care of also.

I would welcome Lucy and Murray a return house sit here if they were available and would recommend them as reliable dog lovers.

If further information is required please do not hesitate to ask for phone contact number.

I am a single, mature aged, non-smoking gentleman with experience in house and pet sitting.

As a recently retired school teacher, I am looking for an opportunity to extend myself and broaden my travelling experience by living in an area for longer than a fleeting visit as is usually the case when taking a holiday from work.
I enjoy gardening, reading, cooking, walking, and recently, craft creations.

Whilst not having my own pets these days, I have had the rather usual menagerie of a cat, dogs, fish, guinea pigs, white mice and chooks.

I have a reference and photos which are attached.
I look forward to be of assistance.

Regards

Richard

I'm a mature aged, non-smoking female who has chosen to housesit as an alternative to renting. I've been housesitting since September 2011 and I really enjoy the lifestyle. House-sitting is a great way to save money until I can afford a place of my own, plus I enjoy experiencing different places. I love animals (was raised on a dairy farm), and am experienced in dealing with all their cute little quirks (and messes!) and providing a load of pats and affection if required. However, having a pet is not a requirement for me to house-sit.
I keep the homes I house-sit for in good condition and am very respectful of the homes I care for.. Owners have been very happy with the condition I leave their homes, gardens and pets in and I've had many return house-sits and referrals as a result. Any tasks that need to be done in your absence - like mail collection and putting out the bins - are part and parcel of the house-sitting lifestyle and I'm happy to do them for you.
I work at home part time for a super company and I also do some writing so I spend much of my time working on my computer. The good news for you is I'll be around to keep your pets company and hold down the forte, so your pets will be well looked after and your home will be well attended. I enjoy my own company and peace and quite around the house. When I'm at home it's just me, so you can rest assured that there won't be a continual procession of visitors stampeding through your home. Of course, I can go on about how responsible, reliable and trustworthy I am....but why not get in contact with me so you can decide for yourself. I have great referrences and a police check...what more can you ask for in a sitter?

I have been an owner of dogs for 20 years. I am pet friendly, responsible and reliable. I am of good character and trustworthy both with your home and your pets - something that is very important to me, and I empathise with the decision to have someone in your home taking care of your precious pets. When I go away I have pet sitters come to my home so my dogs are in a safe familiar environment in my absence. I am fit and healthy (non smoker) and am able to walk dogs and maintain a clean house. I will respect your home and your privacy.
My partner is a stock agent. He is very capable with all requisites re the land and animals. He has cats and aviaries and Ollie the cockatoo. He is a real farm gem. He also works as a gardener on a property in the Western District. He is very capable and versatile and can and will turn his hand to anything.
I am interested in house sits by myself, or with Wes, depending on your requirements.
Hope we can assist each other .

I'm an experienced house sitter and have been house sitting full time now for over 18 months and prior to that at various short term house sits for a couple of years. I have experience with many dogs, small and large and up to 3 at a time, cats, chickens and birds. I enjoy walking the dogs and happy to walk them every day, if required, have also been known to have to walk a cat as well! I have also house sat where I have had to look after a pool and spa and watering of gardens. I also consider myself to be a clean freak and will return your home in the same condition that it was when you left and will look after it as though it was my own. In recent years I have been lucky to do an apartment sit in Hiroshima Japan, and a couple of house sits in NZ. I am a non-smoker and am single and have no pets. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
I have now just completed 6 months of house/dog sitting in Perth Western Australia and Darwin for 2 months and enjoyed every minute of it. I am now heading back south to the Sunshine Coast to where I usually live until the New Year. If you are looking for a house sitter while you have a break over Christmas/new year or school holidays I would love to look after your house and/or pets as though they were my own.

I am a happy, friendly, 60 year old semi-retired house-sitter who is a fit, non-smoking, mature female; honest, reliable, house and garden proud. I grew up on a farm thus have familiarity, experience, patience and love for animals and pets, having grown up caring for many various pets of my own.

I have a passion for gardening and landscaping; I have the time to care for, walk and empathize with your pet/s missing their owner/s while keeping your home safe and as you left it. I have always owned my own homes and worked in responsible professional positions; married for 37 years to an electrician who works away six months of the year, with adult independent children living interstate pursuing professional careers.

I will respect your home, garden and beloved pets with the care I show my own. I can supply a Police Check, Working with Children Check (pets are our children!), House Owners and character references when required.

I am willing to listen carefully to your instructions, preferences & requirements. Thank-you, Dianne :)

Hi, my name is Jayne. I am 62 and a non smoker. I am conscientious, clean and adore dogs, like cats. I would take the kind of loving care with your home and pets you would take. I walk once or twice a day so dog walking is fun for me and i just love their company. I like watering and gardening and i even love mowing but must admit i can't always get mowers started! I started housesitting in WA about 10 years ago in Perth and Dunsborough for 4 years and have housesat in Queensland, port macquarie and the northern rivers. People have always been happy with the health and happiness of their pets and their house when they have returned home. I have been offered repeat housesits. I have great references. Unfortunately the Happy House Sitters site has dropped my references and when i try to re-upload it doesn't work and HHS haven't been able to assist. i am very sorry for this but i can easily email you my wonderful references. I owned my own business in Sydney for 12 years so you can see i am responsible and reliable. I am semi retired and work mostly from my laptop so can work anywhere. I sold my home in New South Wales in 2008 while i was enjoying housesitting in the Margaret River region of WA. I have come back east because my mother is elderly now. I have had the joy of owning 3 Scottish Terriers: Mac, Skye and Kiltie. I would like to housesit anywhere from Port Macquarie up through the Northern Rivers and Queensland's Sunshine Coast. Please contact me on 0450 552074 if i can help. Kindest regards, Jayne

Hi I am Hayley! I have just returned home to Melbourne after living in the UK for 3 years where I as house/cat/dog sitting for the last 4/5 months there. I am also very familiar with sitting as I regularly did from 17 years for family, friends and friends of friends.
I come from a family who love animals, we have always had beloved pets growing up and Mum used to volunteer at the blue cross and bring home kittens and dogs in need of homes temporarily until a loving family was found for them.
I am reliable, very communicative, clean, tidy and love cuddles with cats and long walks with dogs. I have reviews on my trustedhousesitters account (I am very new to this site) and usually my sits come through recommendation or the other site.
I can offer references or more than happy to meet you, your pets and house before any decision is made.
I am hoping to housesit for a few months whilst I settle back in to Melbourne and decide which area I would like to move to, my Mum is out in Wonga Park so a little isolated for now and enjoy my own space.
I am a trained dance and yoga teacher. I had my own business/studio Bath (UK) and will be free-lancing whilst in Melbourne so I work sporadically which gives me the flexibility and time for pets!
Please feel free to ask me any further questions, or don't hesitate to contact via email or phone.

We both have been travelling around the world for the past 15 years and recently returned home to Australia.
We would be delighted to look after your pets, home and garden in exchange for a new living experience, and will keep your household running smoothly in your absence. We are good communicators and will keep you posted on how things are at home while you are away.

We are responsible, well organised and trustworthy. We are a tidy, non smoking, vegetarian couple. We live quietly and socialize outside of the house. Mostly we like to stay home together.

We respect the environment that we live in and make sure your pets receive love and affection whilst you are away. We like to keep things clean and tidy and always leave places just as we find them. If not cleaner!

We have experience with all sorts of animals and love bonding with them. Both of us grew up with both dogs and cats but due to our transitory lifestyle we are unable to have any of our own today. So we really cherish the time we can interact with them regularly.

Currently we are house sitting in Bondi. We are looking after a 4 month old Labradoodle. He is full of Energy and requires a lot of love. We take him for two big walks every day where we constantly make new friends. He is at the stage where he needs training and discipline, which we give firmly but kindly.

Please contact us for further information if you feel we can make a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Kind Regards

Lucy and Camila

Nicola

  • ACT, NSW, Alice Springs, Darwin, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC, WA

Hi there!

My name is Nikki, I'm a 28 year old female from Scotland and I am studying my Masters in Landscape Architecture. I came to Melbourne in July 2017 to study and I will be staying in Australia until my final year of uni starts in Scotland in September 2018. My next semester starts in January but it is distance learning, so I will just be studying from home and don't have to attend uni which is why I thought about house-sitting. I've been renting an apartment in the CBD since I arrived but since I spend most of my time studying in the house anyway it would be nice to have a furry friend to keep me company and I would also get to see other parts of Melbourne.

Unfortunately at this point in my life I can't have a pet of my own because of university and travelling but I love all kinds of animals and I'm especially experienced in taking care of dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, fish and bearded dragons. The beautiful miniature pinscher you see in my pictures is called Benji, my friend saved him from a breeder who obviously didn't care about the wellbeing of her puppies and as a result he developed some behavioural problems and was aggressive and possessive. I offered to foster him for her until he was ready to be around other dogs and as you can see with a little training and a lot of love he turned into the perfect little gentleman and can't get enough of cuddling on the couch.

I worked as an in-home carer for disabled adults whilst at home in Britain, therefor I have been extensively police checked and received specialist training and have certificates that confirm I am legally entrusted with the care of the most vulnerable people in society. I conducted personal care for severely disabled individuals and took them out for activities and assisted with general day to day living like shopping, preparing food, doing chores and I also maintained their homes for them so I am experienced with house cleaning. If you are interested in my references I will provide you with contact details for my previous employer who can verify my police check, that I worked there for over a year (the only reason I reluctantly left the job was because I was coming here to study) and that I am trustworthy and have the experience necessary to care for your house and pets. You also know that I couldn't have a criminal record or I would not have been granted a Visa or entry into Australia and I will provide you with photocopies of my drivers licence (full, manual and clean) and passport so you have my personal details.

I'm more than happy to send you daily pictures or video calls so you can see that your pet is being treated with the love and attention they deserve. I don't drink or smoke, I am a clean and quiet lodger and will provide a reference from my current landlord (who lives in the property with me) to confirm this. I am happy to meet you prior to making any house sitting plans so you can decide if I'm a good fit. I am a warm, compassionate person just looking fsor a furry companion to keep me company during my studies, I'm looking for longer house sits preferably around a month so I can see different parts of Australia but not have to move around too often. I'm happy to sign a contract with agreed terms and will even provide you with a bond to ensure your peace of mind.

I look forward to hearing from you!
Nikki

***Availability: mid November - 2 December 2017; 24 Jan 2018 onwards*** Preferred area: Melbourne and surrounds, Victoria.

Hello! I'm a responsible and house proud non-smoker with an array of house-sits under my belt - from inner city flats to a Tasmanian farmhouse. I am house sitting long term to save for my own home, and have had over three years of house sits almost back-to-back. Many house sits have come through the Happy House Sitters website.

I enjoy a bit of gardening and love the company of animals. I’ve looked after dogs, cats, birds, chickens and even sheep as part of my house-sits. You can be assured that your home will be kept clean and tidy. As a freelance writer and marketer, I often work from home and I think this adds an advantage of “lived-in security” to a property, not to mention extra time with the pets!

A police check and excellent references are available on request.

Ideally I’m after long term house-sits (1 month +) but will definitely consider shorter term options.

Erik & Annette

  • Darwin, WA

Annette and I left Sydney 8 years ago and worked as volunteer Rangers in the N.T. and assistant teachers in an aboriginal school. Then we house-sat twice in Swan Hill and while Annette completed a Masters in Medical Science looked after 3 properties in Tasmania. We looked after 4 properties on Kangaroo Island minding a vineyard/farm (finch, dog, 73 cattle, 1 poddy-calf; we love animals) until March 2015. We then moved to Western Australia where we have cared for another 7 places, 6 of them with farm or domestic animals, taking us through until early-May 2018.
Non-smokers, we are active, love the outdoors, bushwalk, jog, participate in flora & fauna surveys, swim but we also enjoy reading, theatre and cinema.
We have police clearances and recent references, which we are only too happy to supply.
The house that we still own in Sydney is rented out and, as owners, we have an awareness of the property situation from that perspective. We can guarantee that that any house, animal and/or grounds that we mind will be looked after with the utmost attention, respect and care. Thank you.

  • NSW, Darwin, QLD, TAS, VIC, WA

We are looking for pet/ house sits in Queensland in July and early August 2018. We are booked June and Late August and September 2018. We love our work!!
Hi, my husband and I are recently retired teachers 61 and 62 who have lived and worked in the same area for 32 years. Of course as teachers we had regular police checks and we can also provide references. After retirement we went to Canada, Hawaii, Far North Queensland and Tasmania. Yes we have caught the travel bug!
We are friendly, reliable and caring and now that our children have grown up and our beloved pets passed away we are rattling around our house with time on our hands. We love animals and always looked after all our friends and neighbours pets, houses, gardens and mail when they are away. One of them suggested pet and house sitting as it involves travelling, animals and gardening! As a retired couple we are available for any length of time and we can plan to house sit everywhere in Australia for the next 12 to 24 months after which time we hope our children will provide us with grandchildren to spoil. As my husband Ross is a very keen fisherman we try for locations close to good fishing areas and he takes his small boat. We love to travel and see new places and while we get free accommodation and the use of your house as a base for our day trips, you get free pet sitting and the care of your home.
We will take meticulous care of your house, mail, indoor plants, veggie gardens and lovingly look after dogs, cats, birds, fish, chooks, rabbits and guinea pigs. We are more than happy to be in touch with you prior to the pet and house sit and we can also give you updates during your trip so get in touch with us any time to discuss your needs and travel dates as we can accommodate our time to suit your needs.
We prefer the northern areas of Australia during the winter months and escaping the cold Victorian winters. Ross is a keen fisherman and gardener, I adore reading and writing and tend to be more of a home body and we both really enjoy seeing new sights and meeting new people. You can leave knowing we will take extremely good care of your pets, house and garden and while you’re away. Ross and I are looking forward to getting to know you and giving your pets our love and attention. Prior to handover we would prefer a written list of your requirements and instructions including your mobile number and email address so we can make contact and get to know each other prior to your trip. We know the importance of trust in this relationship and can assure you of our honesty and love of animals, in fact we have found the hardest part of pet sitting is saying goodbye to the pets because we grow so fond of them. Luckily for us we have had repeat house sits which makes us very happy.

We are a couple in our early 60’s – recently retired who enthusiastically enjoy house sitting because it allows us to provide a valuable personalized service to home owners. Nothing gives us more pleasure than making home owners feel comfortable with being away from home, knowing their house is in good hands until the owner's return. We're very grateful to all our wonderful clients for the opportunities they have granted us through inviting us into their homes and lives. We receive trust, and in exchange, we provide loving care. We are non-smokers who are honest, reliable and dependable house sitters who will respect your property and personal things. Our background was in education. We have owned a home and are fully conscious of the care and security needed in keeping a house (including a pool) maintained. Also we have had pets that lived very long comfortable lives because we treated them as part of our family. We will care for your pets as if they were part of our own family. We have had experience in house/pet sitting before and we have references available on request.
