Hello Home Owners
As a writer of children's books and songs I am free to go anywhere and make my home anywhere, as long as I have my computer and good internet access (I have my own wireless internet)
Writing, editing and research keeps me at home most days, so your pets will have plenty of company to keep them from fretting over your absence. I am an avid 'dog whisperer' fan and find those methods of interacting with dogs successful with dogs I know well, and also with dogs I have just met.
HOUSE SITTING EXPERIENCE
Since 2013 I have completed 20+ housesits all without a problem and am often asked to do repeat house sits. I have no complaints and have never received a complaint. I have many references which home owners were happy to provide.
I house sit up and down the NSW & Queensland coastline from Hervey Bay to Newcastle & Gosford. I plan to spend more time in Newcastle/Sydney from October 2016. I am planning a long term car trip to Airlie Beach/Cairns beginning June 2017 and am endeavouring to secure house sits along the way,
ABOUT MY LIFE & FAMILY
I am an ex-infants teacher and have worked as a carer to the disabled (certificate 111 )
I have a daughter and a granddaughter in Newcastle. They have a beautifully trained and extra loving male staffy, Nungo. I house and dog sit for my family several times a year when they go skiing or visit their favourite destination, Hamilton Island. Nungo keeps me company and we have a lovely time together.
I currently share a beautiful house in Murwillumbah, NSW with my sister and her staffy Uschi who is 8 months old. She arrived here at 7 weeks of age and is a delight to have in my life.
WHAT I OFFER?
I have been a loving caring friend to my own dogs and cats. I have lived with animals in my own homes long term, and have looked after the pets of my friends and relatives.
DOGS & I
In the last few years I have learned much about dog psychology, and find this knowledge useful when approaching and looking after other people's pets.
I had experienced house sitting and dog sitting for friends, so I thought I would put my experiences to good use and start house sitting professionally.
CATS & I
As a child we always had a cat. Always a female & therefore I have experienced the birth (and care) of many kittens.
As an adult I had two cats on separate occasions, Victoria and Adelaide. Victoria was baited and that was a horrific experience. The only thing that settled me was to go to the shelter to get another kitten. Adelaide approached us with her big meow.... no decision necessary. She lived a happy long life.
TRUST AND COMMITMENT
I have looked after many children, dogs, cats and the elderly in my career as a teacher, as a nanny, as personal carer and also as mother and grandmother. I have a great respect for life and all creatures and view life as a precious gift.
I understand the services I need to provide as a house sitter, and these fit easily into the way I live my daily life.
I have owned my own home and rented many others and have always left these homes as I found them or better.
My main goals in life are: to do no harm, add joy where possible and to enjoy myself through trying new ways of living.
That is why I feel house sitting is a great experience! Great for the home owner, who will receive peace of mind and excellent care for their home and pet/s. And great for my writing, providing new opportunities for me to meet more people and investigate 'the other side of the fence'.
