Hello, I am a retired single female and have done 50+ house/pet sits since June 2014 looking after a variety of cats & dogs, old and young, [some needing medication for diabetes, asthma and epilepsy] plus a pony, a mini-pig, a sheep, lizards, rabbits and birds. So I feel competent to look after all situations..[I was a registered nurse for the past 40+ years..] In the 4yrs I have been looking after peoples pets, there have been a couple of urgent health issues I have had to deal and they were easily fixed..with a quick visit to the vet.
I took up house/pet sitting after I sold my house in Yarraville, in mid 2014 and was waiting for an apartment in Carlton to be built...by the time it was completed, I had become hooked on pet sitting, so put a tenant in my apartment...and continue to enjoy a 'gypsy' lifestyle.
Several months each year I spend in Thailand, learning the language and doing volunteer work with the Dog & Cat Rescue Service. The conditions these poor creatures live in is heart breaking, and I find it both rewarding and upsetting..
By profession I was a Reg Nurse, so a Police Check was mandatory, and I have no criminal history. I run a clean and tidy home [ and can cope with basic gardening...lol..] I had my own much loved miniature Fox Terrier until she passed away in 2014 at 15yo. So now I am footloose and fancy-free, and able to travel and live wherever I choose, and can be more flexible as I have no ongoing commitments.
When I had my dog, I used to have sitters come in to look after her when I travelled, because I understand they are less stressed in their own environment, and its the best place for them. It also gives you [the owner] peace of mind that your home is also safe, and will be in good working order on your return.
I have also been a Foster mum for pooches from the Lost Dogs Home in Nth Melb who are recovering after surgery, or senior dogs waiting for adoption.
