Hi, I'm Emily! I'm a non-smoking vegan who loves animals of all kinds. My work as a design consultant takes me up and down Australia, so I house sit on location near my clients. I sometimes have to commute to an office but there are times when I'll work from 'home' a lot - I'll tell you which kind of project I'm on when I contact you.
I'm currently based in Melbourne, and have booked house sits in Sydney 17th-30th April. My plans for May are currently unclear but there's a good chance I'll need to be in Perth.
I absolutely adore animal companions - in my life I've cohabited with cats, mice, fish, lizards, snails, chickens, ferrets and bunnies. My dear cat Tufter passed away of old age 5 years ago, and the nature of my work has prevented me being able to commit to a pet since. I'd therefore be delighted to spend some time taking care of other people's pets playing, cuddling, exercising or just seeing to their needs.
I've lived with cats most of my life and adore them, usually bonding quickly. As well as indoor-outdoor moggies I've cared for indoor-only cats (Ragdolls and Burmese) with various dietary and toiletry needs. I've kept my own flock of egg-laying chickens and am a licensed reptile keeper in NSW. I love dogs as well and am more than happy to take responsibility for them - I've cared for a number of other people's dogs and bonded well with them, but never owned one myself.
I write regular notes for the owner so you can relax knowing your pets are doing well. And if there are any unexpected health issues I'll make sure they get straight to the vet's. I'm also a bit of a hobbyist photographer so you might get some cute pics along the way!
I am also a homeowner - have been for 13 years now - so I'm confident in dealing with maintenance or emergency issues in a house. For example, I'll take note of where the electric metres / fuse boxes / water mains are and will use my common sense to work out whether I can sort something out myself, whether I need to contact an emergency workman, or whether I need to contact the owner.
