I love having animals around me, especially adore cats and horses, and have a soft spot for well-behaved dogs. I am house-proud, & really enjoy every-day tasks of caring for a home as if it were my own. A scientist, ecologist then yacht-stewardess, I am not quite sure i have finished with travelling the world, but it sure is nice to come home for a while. Housesitting is a lifestyle choice, and one I am considering turning into a professional business in the near future (though i will endeavour to honour previous clientele whenever possible). As an animal lover, and a long-term traveller, I recognise the need for quality in-home care for pets, and the confidence that your most beloved companion is not just comfortable, but also genuinely loved whilst you are absent. Whilst my currently-nomadic life doesn't allow for my own pets, I take much pleasure in caring for your much-loved family pets in their home environment, knowing I am providing them with consistency in their routine and a comfy lap and scritches at their merest hint of the request. I am honest, careful, with a high attention to detail, respectful of your wishes & your property, have a police check & many references. Clients repeatedly tell me I go "above & beyond" and "exceeded their expectations." I do have extremely high standards, and go to great lengths to ensure your pet's every comfort & emotional need is met, and that your home is welcoming upon your return. *** BACKGROUND: I worked for a number of years as a scientist, saved and bought a townhouse in Melbourne, before deciding to see the world, pursuing my love of nature and animals by participating in various animal volunteer projects in Latin America for two years, then working as a yacht stewardess to supplement further travel throughout Europe. I have been lucky to housesit (and boatsit) caring for many different pets all throughout my travels, which in turn gave me with much-needed animal companionship and a place to care for as if it were my own.
***WHAT I DO: I have recently returned to Australia for the purposes of visiting my best friend and her new baby (in Warragul) and to exact some repairs upon my (currently tenanted) townhouse in Glenroy. At this time I am also researching various courses I am interested in pursuing (such as yoga-teacher training, and a diploma of veterinary sciences) as well as investigating the practicalities of starting my own professional pet-sitting business. As my personal projects offer me plenty to think about & research, I do not intend to work in this short time so I will have heaps of quality time to spend with your pets and be added security presence for your home. I enjoy my own time and quiet space, and am the sort of person who enjoys meditation and yoga, walking through parks & forests, playing with animals, quiet reflection, writing, and cooking fresh and nourishing meals. I do not take drugs, and am a firm NON-smoker who appreciates a smoke-free environment, so please do let me know if you are an inside smoker, so we can determine if this might affect our mutual suitability.
*** CLEAN & TIDY: I am an extremely clean and tidy person, (force of habit from working in the yachting industry) so I appreciate the same in my surroundings. Any effort you make to clean and tidy your home before you go will be returned in-kind as I always leave a home better than how I found it, and with more joy in my heart for doing so when it is obvious you take pride in it too.
*** REGULAR UPDATES: I have used Happy Housesitters in the past when I had to leave my own cat and home, so I totally understand how you feel & will keep you updated via email, facebook, whatsapp or Skype, as frequently as you wish, whilst you are away. The health and happiness of your pet, security of your home, and your peace-of-mind are my top priorities.
*** GREAT REFERENCES: I can provide great references upon request (many of my sits have been overseas and by word-of-mouth, so references have not been sent through the happyhousesitter site, though I have plenty), and am happy to meet either in person if possible or via Skype, before you commit so you can see if I will be the perfect fit for you & your pets.
*** EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE: I have experience with cats, dogs, horses, chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits, goats, fish, and birds. I am experienced & comfortable with administration of medicines, and small-med farm tasks. Please contact to discuss any requirements.
