To describe myself, I am honest, sincere, trustworthy, respectful, and compassionate. An independent single woman fit and at 54 am retired. A non-smoker, almost non-drinker, outgoing, optimistic and don’t take myself too serious. Although I am a social person, I am not into bars or clubs and prefer a walk on the beach or an afternoon in a park or the great outdoors. I enjoy my own company, like quiet and am very capable of looking after myself.
My motto in life: “To live each day to the fullest so you can look forward with confidence and back without regrets.”
Two of my biggest passions in life are: My great love for animals. I believe it is a privilege to share our lives with a pet. Sharing almost 2 decades of my life with my cats, Vavaldi who lived to be 17 years and his sister Rosie who passed away 2-1/2 years ago at the age of 19 years, I know the joy and unconditional love pets bring into our lives.
My other passion is travel, and I have been very fortunate to experience some amazing places, learned about many different cultures and have met some beautiful people from many different countries. Favourite places would be the many National Wildlife parks in Africa, the beach and ocean as well as walking down the streets in old European cities.
I also love creating with my hands and as a 25 year potter, continue to take great pride in shaping clay into form on my pottery wheel in my studio. Growing up in Germany, I lived in Vancouver, Canada for 22 years and migrated to Australia 19 years ago.
Having had a number of pet/house-sitters during my travels over the years, I know firsthand the anxiety and worries one feels when entrusting the lives of ones’ pets to a complete stranger.
Even though I don’t have a pet of my own now, every morning, when my neighbour leaves for work, I pick up Lilly a 5 year old red Heeler-Staffy and BamBam their 13 year old Chihuahua who share my day and stay with me when they are away on holidays. I have also cared for and looked after my best friends dogs and other pets over the years.
As a homeowner for 14 years, I am very houseproud, clean, tidy and take great pride in looking after my home. Our homes are not just 4 walls, but they are a reflection of who we are, what we value and what we hold dear. Having personally experienced, what it is like to invite a stranger(s) into your house and entrust that person to look after your home, I guarantee you that I will respect and look after your property. Living independent and having done major renovations over the years to my house, I am very capable of mowing lawns, looking after gardens and general maintenance.
In my professional careers I worked both in Health Care Administration as well as an artist-potter. Growing up with a large variety of different pets, my love for animals began very early on and as a child, I often brought home strays and wildlife that needed love and care. I found Rosie and Vavaldi when they were 6 weeks old having been dumped. That day I promised them, they would never go hungry again and that they will always be loved and looked after. I brought them with me to Australia when they were 2 years old. The love and happiness Rosie and Vavaldi gave me during their lives, is indescribable and they will always be in my heart. I can promise you that as your pet sitter, the safety, caring for and looking after your pet(s) is paramount.
Not being ready to have another pet of my own, I have been considering pet sitting for a while now. For my 55th birthday next year, I am giving myself a snorkel with the Whale Sharks up at Ningaloo Reef and a dive with Mantas which has been on my bucket list. As it is also my 20 year anniversary of migrating to Australia I always wanted to finish travelling the West Coast of our Country. I had only been in Perth for a few days 19 years ago and have always wanted to go back to see more of Perth so combining my two passions of my love for pets and travel, house/pet sitting is the perfect choice.
