About
Hello, my name is Ann. My husband Jim & I have been married for 52 years & have two daughters both of whom are married. We were indeed fortunate to have been very involved in the lives of our grandchildren who are now 22, 19 & 18 years.
Jim grew up on a dairy farm which we purchased from his parents a few years after we married. This was an ideal environment in which to rear our daughters - cows, calves, horses, dogs(we bred Labradors for a time) & cats.
With his farming background Jim is very capable of administering medications & injections to animals which he has been required to do on a number of house sits.
While living on the farm I was employed as a Teacher Librarian & then as a Public Librarian, positions I feel I contributed well to & thoroughly enjoyed.
When we sold the farm we moved into retail & ran our bookshop for 18 years.
Over the years Jim has been heavily involved in sport, particularly Australian Rules Football. With his playing days over he held a number of responsible positions including coaching, Committee Member, Club President & League President, all of which he did very well with integrity & reliability.
In 2013 Jim was honoured to be inducted into the inaugural Hampden Football League Hall of Fame in recognition of his commitment to the league. In 2016 he was extremely proud to be named a HFL Legend.
Jim was also a Committee Member of the Warrnambool Racing Club for five years which allowed him to follow his interest in horse racing.
On retiring I volunteered at Lyndoch Living a local aged care facility one day a week which I just loved doing. We took some residents in wheelchairs or with walkers to a nearby café for morning tea & then for various activities until lunchtime. In the afternoon I organized trivia sessions which would usually last for two hours or more. The residents were delightful & we had lots of fun & many laughs.
From 2013 -2016 Jim drove a wheelchair van transporting people with physical and/or intellectual impairments. He enjoyed this immensely & was valued highly by both the clients & the staff of the various facilities.
After selling our home we were asked to house sit locally which we did for 3 years. When this home, on 3/4 acre was sold, the owners, agents & purchasers were all extremely pleased with presentation of the property.
This experience made us keen to continue house sitting in other areas, a decision dear friends who had been sitting for 1 year encouraged us in.
Since August 2016 Jim & I have done many house sits (30 in fact) enabling us to not only explore the histories & hinterlands of towns & cities, but to meet many lovely people & their gorgeous pets.
Regards
Ann
