COPULE: LONG-TERM TRAVELLERS AND ANIMAL LOVERS
Hello there! We are a couple of overland travellers who have been roaming the world for more than a decade. We are both animal lovers and meet stray furbabies constantly on our travels. Our biggest joy is feeding them and giving them cuddles and a warm place to sleep for the night...in our tent!
Chris and I are both travel writers and published authors and love nothing more than finding a peaceful retreat during our nomadic wanderings, where we can work and enjoy some down time. When we do house-sit, we spend most of our time at home, which makes us ideal pet companions :)
Both Chris and I have quite a healthy online presence so just ask and we'll happily provide evidence of who we are, and what we do.
WHY WE LOVE TO DO THIS
After more than 12 years on the road, I am missing the feeling of having a 'home', and the biggest setback of a travelling life is that we can't have pets of our own. I think this may just be the ideal solution.
WHAT WE OFFER TO YOU
We are a responsible and quiet couple who loves to stay home and relish comforts when we are housesitting. Considering we spend most of our life camping and on the road, we really do see house and petsitting as the privilege it is.
PETS: I was given my first dog for my 3rd birthday (when I staged a hunger strike to get an Old English Sheepdog!) and lived with pets all my life, right up until I started travelling in 2004. I am well versed in all things crazy-dog related, had 2 English Sheepdogs, 2 German Shepards and one nutty boxer, as well as 2 cats over the years. I also rescued a boxer puppy in Chile, whom I brought back to Australia. My partner has likewise always lived with pets, as well as having particular experience with farm animals. Chris managed a horse farm in South Africa for 3 months and worked as a horse-riding guide.
PROPERTIES: over the last 8 years of together-travel, we've managed campsites, built furniture and rewired electricity in entire properties. We've fixed motorbikes, cars and maintained boats. We're both handy-folks and love having projects around the house/garden/farm/shed/garage. It's a lovely distraction from our writing work.
Combined, we speak English, German, Italian, Spanish and a smattering of French. And dog of course! I worked as a tour guide in three continents over the course of five years and have looked after hundreds of tourists on vacation. It's this invaluable experience which, I believe, makes me reliable, trustworthy and responsible.
Our aim is to look after your home, and your furbabies, with the same passion we would have if they were ours.
NB: Please note that we are experienced house-sitter through a different website, and have only just discovered this Australia-specific one. Our profile may be new, but our expertise is not. In the last 12months alone, we have housesat and looked after 4 cats, 1 cheeky pug and two adorable rescue dogs, all in Malaysia.
