Hello, and thank you for reading my profile.
I have only recently joined Happy House Sitters, but I have often looked after the homes and pets of my friends and neighbours, both in Sydney and in rural Victoria. I myself had a dog for many years (a Labrador-Afghan cross) and three cats (at different times), as well as sheep, cows and chooks. I can supply a reference from my most recent neighbour, whose house, garden and dog I 'sat' over twenty years.
I have owned my own home for the last forty years, but I have recently sold it with a view to downsizing. As I don’t want to buy a new place for a year or so, I am looking to house-sit in the meantime.
I have been a professional author for many years, and I still write full-time. If you have children or grandchildren, they have probably read my picture book, My Place. I also write for adults, and have recently published my memoir, Her Mother’s Daughter.
In 2014 I was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters by the University of Sydney, in recognition of “exceptional creative achievements in the field of children's and adult literature”.

I have an office where I keep my research materials but I do a lot of my writing from home, so I would be good company for your pets.
I have always been a keen gardener, and over the last decade I have been the co-ordinator of a flourishing community bush care site on the Cooks River.
Although I am in my late sixties, I am very fit and healthy. I go to aquarobics three times a week and do a lot of walking. I don’t smoke or drink.
I am on the Council of the Australian Society of Authors, and I am a life member of the Cooks River Valley Association.
I have a National Police Certificate (Number NCHRC-2018-96574) certifying that there are no court outcomes or outstanding matters recorded against my name.
