We have a spacious and modern 6 bed/2 bath home on 1 1/4 acre block in a quiet cul de sac. We love the community out here - its lovely and peaceful and there is zero traffic noise. Our block has lovely mature gum trees with lots of native birds passing through. Our home has NBN internet, Netflix and Disney + streaming services, a pool table and movie library. There is a covered car port and room to store a caravan if you are travelling with one. We have a very large and spacious guest room on offer for sitters to enjoy during their stay (see photos), while also having access to the rest of the common areas.
We are pretty confident that we have the best neighbours in the world - a mix of young families and retirees - they will happily welcome you to the street and will be on hand if you need help with anything. There is however no public transport in Karalee so sitters will need their own car. The nearest grocer and shopping hub is just under 10mins drive away. We are located approximately 20min drive to Ipswich and 45min drive to Brisbane CBD. Our home is really suited to those looking for a bit of a break from the hustle and bustle of it all. There are some lovely local parks and walking tracks down by the Brisbane River.
We’ve used Happy House Sitters a number of times over the years and have had some wonderful experiences, and even made some life long friends. We are looking for a house sitter or two. The starting and end dates are flexible as long as the dates specified are covered - for example, you are welcome to arrive a few days earlier and leave a few dates later than the dates specified to make things easier if you are between sits.
Pets & farm animals
We have three goofy dogs; Django (the Weimaraner) and Zephyr and Bindi (both Koolies). All are very clever and will gladly show you their library of tricks. They have a huge yard to run around in so walking isn’t necessary. They just love a good cuddle. Something to be mindful of is that our dogs are medium-large size and can get excited when meeting new people. They are well trained but sometimes forget themselves in the moment, and this reults in attention seeking behaviour, like jumping. They settle quickly, and can be controlled with key commands (which we will teach to house sitters) but their size may be a little dangerous for small children or people with mobility issues. They just have too much love to give!
We also have 5x cats (all from the RSPCA), Loki, Pixel, Teddy, Felix and Hugo. They all have their individual personalities (as all cats do), and while they may be shy at first, they love to be around you to see what you're up to and to ask you about your day. We have a large outdoor cat enclosure to keep them safe and there are no litter boxes to change (yay!). We also have chickens who are great fun. They have their own enclosure and their care is very simple. We also have a lovely neighbour who is a chicken guru and she is happy to help out with the chooks in our absence.
House Tasks
The main tasks really involve keeping the animals fed and happy. This sitting is only suitable for someone who can commit to living in the house for the duration of the sit (rather than staying elsewhere and visiting occasionally). We work full time but spend our afternoons playing with the dogs and cuddling the cats on the couch - so we don't expect housesitter/s to be at home all day if they have things to do. Other little things that might need doing; checking the garden to ensure its getting enough water, putting the bins out if its bin day, collecting the mail, and generally keeping the house secure and looking "lived in".
