We are on 10 acres about 25 minutes drive from Orange. The house is over 100 years old and may be described as rustic and colourful. We have an aging Jack Russell, he loves company and food, also a 15 year old cat who is still very active loves a snuggle. These two need feeding twice day and they need someone there to keep the fire going at least over night. Enough fire wood will be supplied, may need to do some chopping. There’s an electric heater in kitchen for cold mornings. The Orange district during June July is cold, we are 900 meters above sea level, can get snow during winter. We often get frosts at this time followed by crisp sunny days. If the fire is kept going the house is warm and cosy. We have two queen size beds, ample bedding, electric blankets etc. Theres chooks to feed once day and collect eggs. The garden is mostly dormant at this time, usually try to have some vegetables available throughout the winter. There are also sheep and alpacas which shouldn’t need attention but they have been hand fed and are friendly. We try not to use harsh chemicals on our animals or land. We shall leave friends no to call if needed. The fire heats the hot water so in winter we have big hot baths. There is satellite broadband/wifi. Dishwasher, gas stove, flatscreen Tele, mod cons etc.
The Orange district is well known as a food and wine destination and is quite a lovely area to explore. There are cafes with 10 minute drive in nearby villages and a forest not far with lovely walks, plus there’s walking tracks around lake/mount canobalas.
