After a long career running my own social enterprise in the UK where I placed thousands of people into volunteering opportunities in international development I'm here in Australia on a consultancy contract for 6 months with Australian Volunteers International based in Fitzroy, Melbourne. My boyfriend Max has travelled with me and we are both enjoying the transition into Melbourne life. Max is a barista and works full time for a local roastery/cafe. I have lots of family in Melbourne and grew up here so know the area well and it's nice to be back and have the opportunity to get to know the city again.
We are looking for house sitting opportunities while we are here - both long and short term so we can settle down whilst enjoying a few days here and there travelling around. We have done a lot of house sitting in the UK and love it. We love animals and my work has become flexible enough to allow me to work from home so we can care for pets that need or like a lot of attention! I had my own cat in the UK and would love the opportunity to have one again short term! Max is a qualified product designer and this comes in very handy if anything needs repairing in the house or when a practical hand is needed. We aren't seasoned gardeners but would be very happy watering, weeding, mowing and generally keeping things well maintained. Since being in Australia we have done some house sitting for friends working in academia who travel a lot and they would be happy to provide references, as would our connections in the UK.
Max and I work full time in the city but outside of this love food and spend a lot of time in restaurants and cafes! We also love nature and trying to get out into the forest from time to time. I practice yoga daily and Max loves to cook. Our references - work, personal, other house sisters - will be happy to chat at any time and will vouch for the fact that we are clean, tidy, reliable and generally nice people.
