About

Hello! Before embarking on a full-time writing career, I was a professional nanny for almost twenty-five years, which means I have essentially been house and pet sitting for a living for all of that time. When parents around the world -- I have worked as a nanny in London, New York, Dubai, Singapore, Galway and San Francisco, as well as here at home -- trust me with their children, they also trust me with their homes and their pets, which is both a great honour and great responsibility. In addition to the many homes I have worked in over the years -- either as a full-time nanny, a live-in nanny or an occasional babysitter -- I have also successfully house and pet sat many times, for employers, former employers, family and friends (and friends of friends, etc.).



I am meticulous, conscientious and entirely dependable. These are essential traits in a career nanny, and they extend to all facets of my life. When it comes to pets, I am both a cat AND dog person -- plus, fish and birds and bunnies and any living thing, really (except, perhaps, snakes) -- and have extensive experience in looking after animals of all types, breeds and personalities.

Rachel was friendly, upfront and easy to commuicate with, she was also very flexible when I wasn't sure of my return date. She took good care of my baby boy Loui and the house was left very clean and bedding was washed when I arrived home. Which is so nice to come home to after a few bad experiences with house sitters being messy and breaking items in the past it's so relaxing to come back to a clean home after a trip away. I would use Rachel again anytime!

Rachel did a great job of looking after our dog Jess while we were away. We returned home to a clean place and a very happy dog! Rachel sent us picture updates while we were away so we didn't miss Jess too much either. We found Rachel to be reliable, responsive, and trustworthy.

Rachel had good communication and a friendly manner. She looked after our cats and our place as if it were her own. She went above and beyond, and even stripped the bed and took out the rubbish before she left. Rachel provided a perfect experience from start to finish, and the cats and we would be very happy to have her sit for us again.

Rachel house sat for me for 6 weeks while I was overseas, taking care of my two cats. She took great care of the house, leaving it in perfect condition, and made friends easily with my cats, even my skittish girl who normally won't come out from under the bed when strangers are around! But with Rachel, she was out after the first day. I found Rachel to be very communicative, responsible, and reliable, and would trust her any time to take care of my house and my cats.
