Hello. I live on the beautiful Dangar Island in the Hawkesbury River. I'm looking for someone to pet sit and housesit for 6 weeks while my partner and I are overseas.

The main job is pet sitting our 5 year old rescue chihuahua - Disco! She's a healthy, funny, playful little thing who loves going for walks, playing and cuddling (she's the ultimate hot water bottle for winter..) The only issue is that she can't be left home alone as she just cries and gets really distressed, so I would need someone who works from home or is happy to just hang out on the island with her.

If you needed to leave for the day or night, I have a list of people on the island that are happy to look after her (including our next door neighbour).

On the house front, there isn't too much to do. We have a few plants that need watering.

We live up the hill, in a lovely little house with a balcony that looks out onto the Hawkesbury River. To get to our house, you need to walk up the hill (or get a lift in the volunteer-run buggy), then climb our steps (70 steps!). It's worth it once you get here! As we're up in the trees, we have lots of birds of all varieties pop by. It's very quiet, safe and relaxing. We get lots of sun where we are!

Dangar has a great cafe, bowling club/pub, a beach and is perfect for just wandering around or taking some time out. The bowlo has live music most weekends, and lawn bowls every Sunday (dogs welcome!)

In terms of groceries, there is a service that delivers to the island every Friday. We use it and love it.

There is also a volunteer-run buggy on the island for getting things up the hill (or yourself, if you don't want to walk). I will leave some buggy passes for you!

Let me know if you have your own dog that you want to bring. I'd prefer our dogs met first, just incase there are any issues.

I would love to meet you first and show you around the island before we both commit.

I'm also open to taking on 2 people who want to do 3 week stints each if that's better for you.

Pets & farm animals

Disco is a sweet but nervy 5 year old chihuahua. She can't be left alone, so she requires someone who works from home or can spend a lot of time with her. She's a little shadow and loves to just trot around after you.
