Hi! I’m looking for a cat-lover who can care for 5 cats for 3 weeks in Padstow NSW. Experience with cats is a bonus (for your sake) as my furbabies don’t share the loving and harmonious relationship I naively thought they would. Sometimes I feel like I’m hosting the feline hunger games at home. One (Ziggy, Russian blue) has anger issues and hates all the rest. He’s a dominant male and, although he enjoys the sneaky brush and pat, and he might even even purr and pretend he loves you in private, you become fair game when you intervene to save another cat from being scalped. The other 4 are all rescue cats. Tasha has been with me the longest. She loved our solitary life together and never adapted to sharing her space. Although she rarely instigates a fight, she’s known to hiss and run away when the others are around (even if they’re ignoring her). Tasha loves 1:1 human time and prefers to sleep next me each night, but doesn’t respond well to others wanting a piece of quilt for themselves. Tasha mostly keeps to herself but she’s Ziggy’s prime target and needs a human to save her from his predatory eye on a daily basis. Then there’s 3 siblings - Maverick, Dante and Cleo. I found them in a park in June this year so they’re the newest family members. In all honesty, they are by far the easiest to care for (you’d think THEY were the domesticated cats). They love each other, love pats, love being brushed, love eating, love humans, love attention and they NEVER fight. They’re just all round adorable. Ziggy seems to leave Cleo alone but, every now and then, when Tasha isn’t around to taunt, he turns his attention to Maverick or Dante, so intervention is sometimes needed! Now, the house. It’s a double-storey house with security doors/ cameras etc and situated on a main road. It’s very safe and there’s never been an issue in the 30+ years here. There’s easy access to buses, trains, shops, motorways etc, with a bus stop outside the house! There’s plenty of driveway space to park a car too. It’s a family home so it probably has everything you need. I’m looking for someone who has a love for cats, and is clean, honest and reliable. By reliable, I mean someone who is committed to living in the home. I’d prefer someone to be around each day (obviously not all day every day, it’s not a prison!) but just to be largely available, because I don’t trust the cats to work things out like adults.
