Our double story house is located in a quite street in Wollert, Melbourne. There is a local bus within walking distance to the house, that links to the train station and major shopping centre, however a car is advisable.

We have three adult ragdoll cats that are a little timid when meeting new faces. We both work from home full time, so they are used to having someone around most of the time, although they're content to be left alone throughout the day. They are very healthy so no speacial caretaking needs required, just feeding, cleaning of kitty litter tray and giving as much love and attention as they want (none of them are lap cats, but they do like somne attention). They love to share the same space as us - always following us from room to room.

Being floofy rag dolls, daily sweeping/vaccuming will be required to stay on top of the shedding, as well as regular brushing. The only other housekeeping we ask is to water our indoor plants, and in warmer weather, also put the sprinkler on the front & back yard (both are quite small). For longer stays, mowing the lawn may be required.

On a map, Wollert may look like a long way from the CBD, however outside of peak hours, its only about 30 – 40 mins to the CBD via the freeway. We live in a beautiful estate what is surrounded by walking trails, kangaroos, lots of native birds, and we even have a large farm with cows at the end of our street. The area has a rural vibe, but less than 10mins way from two large shopping centres, restaurants, cinemas etc.

We’ve only had one person outside the family housesit before, as whenever we have gone away in the past, they’ve been short trips and my sister has always house sat for us, but this time Chris and I are planning a 6 week trip to Europe, in celebration of us both turning the big 5-0 this year, hence why I am looking for someone to take care of our cats and home.

Naturally, we’re a little anxious about the whole experience as we have never left our cats (or home) for such a long time, and we have very little experience with pet sitters, so looking for someone who will treat our pets and home as their own.

Our cats aren't too needy, so as long as their feeding routine is maintained (after all, they are creatures of habit). They do occasionally like a little pat/scratch, but they’re certainly not lap cats, and like their independence. They do, however, like human company so they often follow us around the house and settle in the room that we are in, be it in the study when we're working, in the lounge of an evening, or in our room at bedtime (although we do close them out before going to sleep, as they like to play and wrestle throughout the night, and we like our sleep uninterrupted).

My husband and I both work from home full time, so the cats are used to having people around, however on the weekends we are often out and leave them home alone all day. They’re content to be home alone (as long as their mealtime routines are kept) as they spend a lot of the day catnapping.
Being timid around new faces, we do ask that you don’t invite guests into the house while you’re sitting. They’re indoor cats that don’t have any road sense, and we’d never forgive ourselves if a visitor, without cat caretaking experience, accidentally letting them out. I think this might sound overly protective, but they are our babies.

We’re looking for someone to housesit for 6 weeks from around the end of September this year through to early November. These dates are not yet fixed, as we are keen to find a sitter before we commit to booking flights.
