About

My home is in a very safe and quiet family suburb on the edge of Ballarat, with a country feel and a strong sense of history. It’s a peaceful, private area - part of a modern estate with only one entrance in and out - well away from the noise of the city - but still close to everything you need.

The house is a spacious modern three-bedroom, two-bathroom, two-toilet home. There’s a private backyard with lots of trees, extra-high fencing, and a large deck (partly under cover).

Inside, the house is set up for comfort and ease. The open-plan kitchen is one of my favourite spaces - designed for cooking, with a big island bench, gas cooktop, oven, dishwasher, walk-in pantry, extra-large fridge, butler’s sink, and clear feature lighting.

It opens out to a full dining table and a formal lounge with a wood heater. I keep the firewood stacked and ready - the fire keeps the house warm and cosy and is lovely to relax in front of, especially with a cat or a cup of tea.

There’s also a second lounge room with a large L-shaped chaise couch, smart TV, and access to Netflix, ABC iView, and SBS On Demand. It’s a great space to unwind.

The main bedroom has an ensuite and walk-in robe, the second is a large guest room with built-in wardrobes, and the third is set up as a home office.

The separate laundry has both a washing machine and dryer. WiFi runs throughout the house.

In terms of location, it’s very convenient. A full shopping centre (with Coles, Woolworths, Kmart, cafes, and all the usual stores) is just a seven-minute drive away. Aldi is about five minutes. Also if you don’t feel like heading into the shopping centre, my local suburb has an IGA and post office just down the road - easy to duck into when you need something.

My suburb has a fascinating history too, including old Cobb & Co routes, gold mining stories, and important First Nations heritage.

Lake Wendouree in the centre of Ballarat. is about a ten minute drive away and is a beautiful spot to walk around, relax, or enjoy lunch at one of the lakeside cafes or restaurants.

Ballarat’s city centre is filled with preserved heritage buildings from its gold mining days. Ballarat is more than twice the size of Hobart and has everything you’d expect from a major city, without losing its charm.

The train station is five minutes from my door, with regular trains to Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station - perfect for a day trip to the city, Victoria Markets, or anything Melbourne has to offer.

If you’re into cycling or walking, you’ll find my suburb well set up. There’s a dedicated bike path just 400m from my front door that takes you all the way into Ballarat. The Ballarat–Skipton Rail Trail is an easy 15-minute ride away. I’m also only 14 minutes from Creswick’s mountain bike park, with 60km of cross-country and downhill trails, plus lots of hiking options too.

Just 250m from my front door are some small picturesque lakes with a walking trail around them and a jetty - a peaceful spot with waterbirds and plenty of space to walk or sit. I often head there during work breaks to clear my head or enjoy lunch.

My home is comfortable, very liveable, and well set up for someone looking for a quiet place to stay and recharge. If you appreciate peace, privacy, a good kitchen, and easy access to nature and history, it’s a great spot to base yourself.

I have a very cuddly, snuggly four year old cat. He is very intelligent and loves playing soccer, fetch with his sticks and loves trying to catch bouncing balls in his paws. I have had lots of cats in my life and he is the most fun and engaging and loving cat.

As he is a rescue cat, he has separation anxiety so he needs to regularly check-in with humans throughout the day or sleep nearby.

He needs a house sitter that is retired, works part time, or works from home. He can tolerate a 7 to 8 hour absence alone with the television or radio left on, but not repetitive daily absences of long hours like many full time jobs require.

Oscar is a solo cat and won’t cope with any other cats or dogs so he is not looking for a house sitter who wants to also bring their own pet/s to the house sit.

The only “mowing” required is with a non-motorised hand propelled cutter in my back yard. It is about a five minute job and so easy and effortless to do. If I mow prior to departure, most likely it won’t be needed to be cut until I return.

I have some plants on my rear deck that will require weekly watering, and if dry weather, some weekly watering of new shrubs in my front yard.

Other than that, I offer my house as a winter oasis for you to enjoy and being somewhere new to explore.

Thanks.
