About
House sit required for 3 bedroom townhouse in Yarraville whilst I am away for a weekend. I am open to the housesitter coming a few days earlier than the start date (although I will still be at home).
The house is walking distance to public transport, Yarraville Village, walking trails, a golf course and parks. The house sit also requires looking after my 13 year old Jack Russell x Hamish and my 5 year old Tibetan Spaniel Tashi.
I am looking for clean living, reliable, animal loving house sitter/s who will look after my home like it is their own and will spend quality time with the dogs. The house sitter/s must be non-smokers.
The house is a nice sized 3 bedroom townhouse over 3 levels with a large terrace on the 3rd floor where you can watch the sunrise whilst overlooking the city . The house is newly built and has air-conditioning/heating, a large terrace and a small yard.
Pets & farm animals
Hamish is an 13 year old Jack Russell/Chihuahua/Maltese/Shih Tzu X - he loves meeting people, long walks with plenty of time to sniff and explore, his favourite toys (but he is still known to destroy the squeaker in a new toy) and pat'n'cuddles. He is affectionate, loving and pretty low maintenance. He loves being a big brother to Tashi and is protective of her in the sense if he thinks she is scared or frightened he will come to her aid.
Whilst he is getting on in age, Hamish is boisterous, energetic and not afraid to express his opinion. But he is also very well behaved and responds well to commands - he even understands left and right when being walked and you want him to turn a particular direction. Hamish loves being brushed and I generally do it every week or so, depending on how rough he is looking.
Tashi is a 5 year old Tibetan Spaniel. She has been with me since Feb 2025, and is a rescue from a traumatic background (backyard breeder and she was abused). Therefore, she takes a while to trust people and her trust is hard won and easily lost - she is very food motivated, but if anxious or scared you cannot win her over with a treat, she will either ignore it or take it from you and spit it out. But she is super smart, loves our training sessions - since she joined our family she has learnt - watch, sit, leave it, touch, follow, find it - we're currently working on drop and turning left/right on command when walking. She loves our walks, and is mad for a puddle - she lines them up and walks straight through the middle. She loves Hamish most of all and looks to him a lot for guidance and support.
Both dogs are fed food that I prepare myself, I will leave an ample supply for the house sitter.
House Tasks
As this is only a short sit, all I require is that you leave the house as you found it, and keep the dogs company, taking them for a walk is optional / will be discussed closer to the time of the house sit as it will depend on how Tashi is going and the level of confidence of the sitter with a dog that is easily scared (but growing more confident by the day).
