Hello there:) Like many other people, our pets are our family and therefore when the opportunity to travel presents itself (which doesn’t occur very often!) we like to ensure our 4 legged loves are going to be well cared for in our absence. So here’s the rundown: we live on a small acreage in a lovely coastal town of South Gippsland, where there is a certain spring magic that comes with this crisp air from Bass Strait! We have a great beach only 6 minutes drive down the road, there’s walking tracks nearby, and we’re only a 1.5 hour drive to the spectacular Wilson’s Prom. Let me tell you, the Prom is a must see whilst you’re here- pack yourself a picnic, go for a hike and take in the spectacular views of this rugged and diverse national park. Our property is located on a quiet road, we have fantastic neighbours, and we’ve just completed some big renovations on our house (so there’s a brand new bedroom, bathroom, toilet, laundry, kitchen and living room for you to enjoy!). We’ve also recently installed a fireplace, but the living area has a split system for convenience. Our town has some great cafes and shops to peruse, as does many of the neighboring towns, plus there’s an old rail trail situated between Wonthaggi and Kilcunda, which is lovely to bike ride on, stop for lunch, then head back home! I will leave you with a list of fantastic local cafes, markets, and lovely quaint towns worth visiting that are scattered throughout out beautiful region, so you’ll have lots to explore whilst you’re here!
Pets & farm animals
We have an elderly cat, two dogs, and three horses (well, two and a quarter because one is a miniature pony!!). I always ensure suitable back up plans and contact details in our absence so that you’re well prepared and can enjoy your stay here :)
My cat & dogs are fed once a day in the evening & they all receive medication in their food. Treats are available for the dogs. Water bowls require filling daily. My cat is locked inside at night (if she’s cooperative!).
Due to it being cool at times during spring, my horses require a daily feed and their water to be checked second daily, as well as a brief check on their rugs/ remove rugs if it’s going to be a warm day. Previous experience with horses is therefore a must so you feel comfortable entering the paddocks and tending to their needs. I know it sounds like a lot of daily tasks but I personally really enjoy this, it’s my favourite part of my day when I can enjoy our pets and our property:) Tending to the horses takes about half an hour each day, and it’s a nice routine- particularly when they’re so happy to see you with their feed!! :)
