Hi there,
We are looking for house sitters for a period of approximately 10 weeks, beginning June 21 and finishing at the end of August (our return date is still to be confirmed but it won’t be later than August 31.) Just a little bit about us…
We are located in Bright, in Northeast Victoria, in the foothills of the Alps, with Mt Buffalo, Mt Hotham and Falls Creek all within easy reach for a day’s hiking or skiing (in a good snow season!) The King Valley and Rutherglen wine regions are not far away. The beautiful Ovens River runs through town, with Centenary Park being no more than five minutes’ walk from our home.
We live within easy walking distance (10 minutes maximum) of the shops and town services, which include two supermarkets (Woolworths, IGA), a pharmacy, newsagency, independent bookshop, post office, three banks (Bendigo, NAB and Commonwealth), medical centre, dentist, two bakeries and a cinema. In addition, there are three bike shops, two hotels, three petrol stations, as well as numerous cafes, restaurants and other small businesses!
We have two cats, Caesar and Angus, who are 14 year old brothers. Both are desexed. They are indoor cats, with cat-flap access to a netted outdoor enclosure. Both have lovely natures, although Caesar is inclined to be initially shy of strangers.
Our house is a weatherboard miner’s cottage (not in original condition!) Heating is in the form of a split-system and a woodburner, as well as a couple of portable column heaters. Firewood will be supplied. The hot water service and all appliances are electric, and there is a gas-fired BBQ situated in the back garden. We have a double carport suitable for most cars, but it wouldn’t fit a campervan or caravan. The house has garden on three sides, including a number of established trees, most of which are deciduous. There is a small vegie garden.
