Commencing soon

I'm seeking a responsible cat-lover to take care of my very affectionate and cuddly guys while I'm travelling for work.

It's an apartment with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The spare bedroom is available for housesitter's use.

The apartment is 5 mins' walk to the 57 tram, 10 mins' walk to Kensington train station (Craigieburn line), 12 mins' walk to Macaulay train station (Upfield line). It's 10 mins' walk to Kensington Village on Macaulay Road, and also Racecourse Road, both of which have a good range of restaurants, food shops/supermarkets, pubs and wine bars.

The apartment is on the second floor of a building, through a secure entry which services six apartments. There is no lift; my apartment is not accessible for people who use wheelchairs or mobility aids.

Pets & farm animals

The two cats, Omar and Butchie, are 10 years old. They live fully indoors. They're very cuddly and gentle, their favourite thing is to snooze on a warm lap on the couch. They're a little shy at first with new people, but they warm up when they get to know you. The cats are on separate diets so it's necessary to supervise mealtimes so they're not eating each other's food. Omar, the larger male cat, has kidney disease; he is on a special renal diet and is on two types of medication: one pill, twice daily, and another pill once a week. Because of his impaired kidney function he needs to drink a lot of water, it's important that the water bowls and drinking fountains are kept clean and topped up with fresh water. It's also important that he's encouraged to eat as much as he can. Butchie, the smaller female, is easy to take care of and has no special needs. She does have a slight problem with her rear left leg (her kneecap sometimes moves around, an existing issue) so you may sometimes see her limping if the cats have been running around chasing or playing. They are used to being fed frequently (while supervised to make sure they're not sneaking a bite of each other's food), although the food is put away when the humans leave.
