We live in a spacious one bedroom granny flat that sits on a 2 acre property. Our granny flat is fenced and has a lovely garden and deck to sit in. I grow lots of flowers, some of which might need occasional watering during our absence. The 2 acre property has a swimming pool, and we are just a short drive to the beach, shops, mall, tennis courts, cinemas. Really quiet property though with lovely trees and grounds to walk through. Our house has a fully functioning laundry and kitchen and bathroom with a shower (no bath.) We have air conditioning and wifi, Netflix and Disney plus on the tv. We have block out curtains for privacy or if you like a dark room at night. We have a computer, microwave, oven, dishwasher. We don’t have a toaster though.
Pets & farm animals
We have 3 dogs and 2 cats. The animals are as follows;
Kiara - 12 year old German Shepherd, pretty chill, doesn’t need much attention. Has ear drops once a day at night time.
Primrose - 5 year old American Staffy mix. Happy to laze about on the couch, but also will happily run around the garden and play fetch and tug of war. Loves pats and love. Thinks she’s a lap dog.
Piglet - 3 year old Boxer x American Staffy x something ?????. A total couch potato who has to be coaxed out of bed in the mornings. However gets very excited when you come home and there are certain people that she just decides she will jump up on. Mostly happy to lie on the couch all day with occasional pats and love.
Claude - 3 yr old tortoiseshell cat. Once she trusts you she is extremely affectionate and sweet. If she doesn’t know you though she just hides. Never aggressive.
Duma - 1 year old Bengal cat. Extremely affectionate (needy is probably a better word.) If you sit down, expect that he will be on your lap expecting pats and love. Can meow very loudly if he gets locked in the other room at night but only meows for 2 minutes and then stops.
All the animals get fed twice a day. The cats are allowed outside during the day but have to be inside at night. The cats are allowed to sleep in the bed with you. Or if you prefer you can lock them in the other room. The dogs aren’t really allowed in the bedroom (husband’s rule) but if they’re relatively clean and their paws aren’t freshly dirty then I sometimes let them in as long as they lie down calmly on the bed. (I’ll leave that up to your discretion.)
They don’t need walks, they can just run around the 2 acre property with you out supervising them.
They can be left alone for 4-5 hours. If you need to leave them longer then just let us know and we’ll have someone come in and let them out to the toilet. They’re pretty good and easy dogs, just sometimes piglet gets over excited and jumps up. That’s the only downside really.
So yeah, basically, feed twice a day, water, ear drops for kiara once a day, and just love and attention basically.
Just to look after the animals and potentially on hot days water some plants although I can probably outsource the plant care to a friend if the house sitter doesn’t want to do garden stuff.
