Bluegum cottage is a small two bedroom cottage on a 1/4 acre block in the township of Malmsbury. central Victoria. We also have a converted garage used as an office and extra bedroom space.
We have a cottage garden full of fruit trees, a vegetable garden with four boxes of fresh food, we have four Silkie Bantams who provide delicious eggs and two miniature Schnauzers. Down the road is the Malmsbury Cricket ground where we walk our dogs every day. The MCG is next to a wetlands which links with the beautiful Malmsbury Botanical Gardens. There are many wonderful walks and walking tracks in our area. We need house sitter/s who can stay for three weeks next Mar-Early April whilst we head to Japan for a family wedding. We are back for three weeks and then off to Europe for two months. We will write a separate description for the second trip and we will need housesitters for that longer time as well.

Pets & farm animals

We have two miniature Schnauzers Sigi and Brunni, (Siglinde and Brunnhilde). Husband works in Opera and has recently conducted Wagner's Ring Cycle the names of the schnauzers would make sense to anyone who knows The Ring Cycle!! <br />We have four silkie bantams called Cinderella, Snow White, Goldie locks and Rapunzel We would require the dogs to be walked every day which isn't hard as we live very close to wonderful walks. Our chooks are let out every day to free range in the garden or, if we go out they of course can stay in their coop. There would definitely be foxes in this area so please be vigilant with our chooks at night, making sure they are locked up in their roost. Our schnauzers are great little guard dogs though, and have a dog door which they run out of to protect the property. We also host a bee hive who just do their thing, and we have a bee keeper who will organise to visit and look after the hive.

House Tasks

Look after the dogs, feed and walk them through the day. Feed and water for the chooks and let them out morning and make sure that they are locked up securely at night. The frog pond will require topping up from the rain water tank and sometimes the pump, fountain needs cleaning. <br />Collect mail, mow the lawn if required, water veggie patch morning and evening unless it rains. Enjoy the house, the area, the Malmsbury Bakery and the fresh country air. We have aircon and heating in every room and a back verandah facing north which is delightful to have a coffee, breakfast and meals and to sit and enjoy the garden.
