About

Semi-rural area so own transport required but only ten minutes from main shops in Nambour or fifteen from Yandina. Easy drive to beach for walks and to Montville and the Hinterland.
Looking for a retired couple used to larger properties(acreage) and happy to chill around the property with the animals the majority of the time. We have fantastic views over Wappa Dam and out to the coast, as well as plenty of area to walk and explore so being around the property is not a hardship. There is plenty of room to store a caravan and car but we would want the carers to live in the house with the dogs. Being a two-storey, rustic house you must be able to negotiate stairs.
One daughter lives in a cabin on the property but it is not visible from the main house since we are on acreage.(22) She looks after two horses and our calf , and they are able to access fenced paddocks below the main house. She may be able to look after the dogs at her cabin for short periods if needed, either at her place or ours. Feeding her animals may be requested if she is going to be away overnight at any time but this is unlikely..
Our house has ceiling fans but no air conditioning which shouldn't be a problem during winter, We do have a wood fireplace for heating and there is plenty of split firewood on hand for that.

Pets & farm animals

The dogs- a three year old large male Golden Retriever (belongs to one daughter) and an older small Silky Terrier. Both dogs sleep beside the bed in our bedroom upstairs. The little dog needs to be carried upstairs at night usually because she does struggle to negotiate them in low light. She is allowed on the couch when we watch TV downstairs and gets herself up onto that unaided, but the big dog is not allowed. He however needs a lot of attention- play, walks and cuddles. The older dog is not able to walk long distances often as it affects her hips, but she doesn't mind being put in a pram and pushed.
On the other hand they both enjoy going on outings in the car. The daughter who owns the Retriever is unable to have him where she rents but would like to be able to come over by negotiation and take him out to the beach or somewhere occasionally. if agreeable.
The area around the house is unfenced so when we go out the dogs have to be locked inside the house, hence we are unable to be away for more than a few hours at a time. When home however we usually have the front door open all the time during the day and they come and go as they please. Our driveway is very long so they don't usually venture up to the main road. They do bark at visitors, and at noises outside at night.

House Tasks

The prime focus is the dog minding so we'd prefer a couple who are happy to spend a lot of time at home. Mowing is not required for the period we'll be away but there are lots of pot plants around the outside of the house that need watering every second day at least and large gardens to keep watered as needed. Generally overseeing the areas around the house, shed etc. Collecting mail.
