About
Weatherboard house approximately 114 years old situated in the township of Yea, 105k NE of Melbourne in the Shire of Murrindindi. Although within easy walking distance of shops and several cafes, your own transport is advisable. Yea is a friendly town, home to Wetlands (well worth a visit) and within reach of several places of interest including bush walks.
At this time of year, with the exception of a few plant pots, the garden requires little attention. My priority is caring for a Devon Rex cat called Rexy and 9 chooks. The hens should reward you with eggs and Rexy is a real character and needs to be kept in at night. Foxes are a problem, so making sure the chooks are safe is particularly important.
Still attached to the grid, the house is equipped with solar panels and a battery. It is possible to check the best times to switch on the washing machine or dishwasher, for example, online. Yea can be quite cold at this time of year so warm clothing is advised. My home has two reverse cycle heaters, one is located in the sitter’s bedroom/lounge. This bedroom leads out to a deck with views down the back garden, a lovely place to sit and relax in warmer weather.
Pets & farm animals
