Have done a number of house sits through this and one other site over the past several years. Some of these have been by me alone, and some with a partner who moved overseas for family reasons, in 2012. One interesting house sit that I have done twice is a 3 week house sit at a small Bass Strait island and loved it.
These have included a substantial house in Melbourne eastern suburbs with 40 birds, 5 chooks and 2 dogs, a 5 acre luxury tourist property in the Melbourne Dandenong ranges with one very large 13 year old dog, two house sits in a lovely family home with a delightful Bichon dog in Melbournes east, a short sit in a smaller modern house with a jack russell and budgerigar, a 4 month house sit in a small outback Queensland country town with a Fox terrier and a young cat. I recently looked after a luxury two story property in inner Melbourne area (gardens only/no pets) . I have looked after several 30 acre hobby farms with a variety of pets from goldfish, ducks and chooks, to savage large dogs and horses.
During 2013 largely on my own, I house sat at a 5 acre luxury home and a cat on a small bass strait island for 14 days, then a 3 week I house sat for a young single mum in a country town near Echuca with a cat and young border collie. In May/June I looked after a 20 acre property in Blue Mountains with horses, 4 cats and a dog. This was followed by 3 house sits with a variety of pets in WA and SA from July til end September 2013. 2 luxury homes in Cairns, a 5 acre block with home and pool south of Darwin, cottage in South Perth.
I am semi retired, non smoker with a Car and willing to travel to most parts of Australia. I mostly prefer medium term sits (3 - 8 weeks) but can be flexible, especially if it fits in with my schedule. Now based back in Victoria and happy for short or long term sits,
My background includes a variety of management and training roles as well as some trade/logistics experience.
I have owned several dogs, one cat [but seem to some how have a real affinity with a range of cats] and several ponies in past times, and are comfortable and responsible with gardens and homes of all types. I have a limited experience with farm animals (mostly cattle and sheep)
I can provide a range of references as well as a current police certificate.
