About

Henri and Meredith have deep ties to the Northern Rivers community. They are both members (and medal winners) of Ballina Toastmasters (and former executive members of the Club). As business owners themselves, they are also active members of Byron and Beyond Networking and Ballina Business Alliance, both networking groups for local business people.

Other local memberships they have include Byron Writers' Festival, Lismore Theatre Company (Meredith performed in a play for the Group in 2016 and Henri was stage manager) and Henri is a member of Screenworks.

Both Meredith and Henri run their own business. Meredith owns LaughterWorx - where she develops program and one-off events for businesses, community groups, aged care facilities, events, conferences, gyms etc.. to help participants build resilience, confidence, improve communication and team harmony and bust stress using laughter. Meredith also likes to give back to the community, and in May 2017 ran free Laughter classes in Lismore for those affected by the floods to try and find their funny bone mojo again. She also runs Laughter classes for North Coast Community College (having completed Term 1 2017, currently half way through Term 2 and booked for Term 3). Meredith is also author of one non-fiction book (The Busy Woman's Guide to Inner Health and Outer Beauty) and is researching the second book in her The Busy Woman's Guide series.

Henri's business is LAMB, which stands for Local Authors Mobile Bookshop. The business is devoted to promoting the works by authors from the Northern Rivers. It's the only outlet of its kind and they are really proud of it. LAMB travels to markets and shopping centres to showcase the wide range of publications. Henri is also an author of six books, both fiction and non-fiction, as well as an actor, director and playwright. His plays have been staged in Australia and the UK. In February of 2017, Henri was awarded the Nancy Fairfax Writer-in-Residence at the Tweed Regional Gallery (courtesy of Byron Writers' Festival); and in 2016 he won the Mary Shelley Frankenstein 200 award for a short story.

You can look for their Facebook pages and websites to find out more information.

The couple took up housesitting on returning from an extended overseas trip in 2015, and found it so enjoyable they haven't stopped yet. Both love animals, and since their last cat passed away before they went O/S, petsitting has allowed them the pleasure of being with quite a range of wonderful critters! Neither smoke, and with both working mostly from home there is usually someone around to keep your pet/s company.

Meredith's mother moved to Ballina from Sydney in early 2017, so housesitting locally means they can stay close to her.

Meredith and Henri have looked after homes as far away as Maryborough (Qld) and as close as Ballina. Earlier in 2017 they chook/fish/budgie sat for nearly a month, and in May/June/July 2017 are dogsitting in East Ballina. Last Christmas/New Year they cat sat in Mt Tamborine for a month, and the homeowners were so happy having Meredith and Henri in their home, they booked them again for late August 2017 for a month. (Mt Tamborine is a little bit out of the way - but the cats are so gorgeous they just couldn't say no!).

Meredith and Henri would be more than happy to meet up so everyone can make sure they are a mutual good fit. This could be via Skype, in a coffee shop, or in your home. Please feel free to send through any questions. References can be made available upon request.
