Hi folks,

We require someone to live in, care for, and help maintain our home and gardens while we’re away travelling from end of July to mid/late September. We’re in the little regional town of Colbinabbin, Victoria. It’s approx 50kms from Bendigo and close to towns of Elmore, Rushworth and Kyabram. In Colbinabbin there’s a great friendly pub with delicious meals and Community owned general store and post office.

We have a regular weekly cleaner and gardeners, so you’d be required to give them property access and do the odd bit of weeding or mowing (ride on mower) on occasion. Alongside this is the responsibility of loving and caring for our 4 cats aged between 1yr, still a mischievous kitten and 12yrs, older fella. The cats are varied in their personalities with the youngest (Munchkin 14mths) and oldest (Chaplin 12yrs) both quite sociable and happy to have a play, a pat, or a warm bed to share. The middle two cats (Bella 11yrs & Squeak 6yrs) will both likely give you a wide berth initially and hopefully in time they’ll warm to your charms (or at the very least your ability to provide them food!??)

We also have numerous pens of chickens. Various breeds and ages all needing daily egg collection, feeding/feeder checks, drinkers kept filled, and nest boxes/houses mucked-out on a weekly/fortnightly basis....

And then there’s Lottie, Billy, & Jean. Our lovely pet sheep, raised from bottle-fed, poddy/orphan lamb stage. Lottie loves a good head scratch and some daily visit and chat while feeding her and replenishing her water supply. Not a mean bone in her body. She truly loves people. Billy can be pushy, but he’s easily reprimanded. Jean is a lovely young ewe. She will come when called (most of the time, guaranteed if feed is offered ??) and doesn’t mind a pat or head scratch too.

We love our menagerie and want someone who will pay them the same care and attention as we do daily, ensuring all creatures remain healthy, settled, and safe.

We’ve got space to park your caravan or motorhome on the property with access to power connection if it’s your preference to stay in your own rig. You’re also very welcome to stay in our house of course and use it while we’re away as your own space (alongside the resident cats of course!). We’re on tank water only and septic system, so caretaker must be careful with water usage. Though water loads can be delivered, if required, and information provided for this service to the property sitters prior to our departure with file of all relevant info and care requirements.
