Commencing soon

Our home is located in the master-planned community of Springfield Lakes, some 37km southwest from Brisbane's CBD. The house has four bedrooms, master with huge ensuite complete with double shower and which has access to the garden via a large sliding door. Our bedroom has one Queen bed complete with a full thickness soft but supportive organic latex mattress, plus a single adjustable electric bed pushed up against it as one of us suffers from back problems. This bed also has a great massage function! Neither mattress has ever been used without a proper protector. We will buy new protectors, linen and pillows before we leave so everything will be extra fresh. One other bedroom has lowline bunks, one is used for art and crafts and the other is our computer/music room. We have high speed NBN connected which works well and you have access to Netflix and Stan as part of this house-sit. Our garden is low-maintenance and has NO LAWN TO MOW! The entire garden is planted with bamboo, heliconia, gingers and similar sub-tropical plants and may only need a bit of watering if we've had no rain for a while. In fact, David spends only about three full days a year in gardening chores, and that's only for light pruning and tidying up, so we wouldn't think you'd have to do anything at all except enjoy. The home is air-conditioned and well insulated, so easy to keep warm or cool as needed. We have three refrigerators, the main one being an upside down french double door type in the kitchen, which itself is equipped with a 90cm wide five burner Baumatic gas stove with electric oven under a glass exhaust. The kitchen also has a dishwasher and is enhanced by a very large walk-in pantry/storeroom rather than hard to reach overhead cupboards. Our hot water service is a natural gas instant heat type, so you will never run out of hot water. Outside there is a large under roof alfresco area which has two sofas, a huge coffee table, fridge and sideboard and a ceiling fan for warm days. We have four pets to keep you company: Gypsy, our tiny 11 year old Jack Russell X Maltese terrier, Kupa'a (we call him Cooper) our 8 month old miniature dachshund, Freya our 9 month old female Maine Coon Cat, and Odin our 8 month old male Maine Coon cat (all have been neutered).......the three 'babies' will be over 18 months old by the time we are ready to travel.. All four have top health cover for both accident and illness and are up to date with all their needles etc. The local vet will be notified and any emergency care will be billed directly to us. Although we have four animals, they are quite low-maintenance as we have the house well set up for them all and we don't walk them.....mainly because they get so much exercise playing with each other! We have large areas on both sides of the house fully netted to keep the cats in and other creatures out. There are pet doors on both sides of the house for them to access the home when allowed to do so. All animals are house-trained, with the cats going outside and do not use litter trays. The dogs are fed dry food only once a day at night, the cats just need their dry food dispenser topped up when needed and are fed raw meat every second day, with all animals needing their water containers filled up and cleaned as required, probably every couple of days or so in hot weather. We also replace bird seed in the back yard (outside the netting, of course!) for wild birds (rainbow lorikeets and king parrots mainly) which come every morning and afternoon, but this is not essential as they don't rely on it solely for their food. Our back yard is very private as the main bedroom, music/computer room and all living areas face away from the only neighbour and out onto a reserve full of tall gum trees and other smaller trees and shrubs, including lots of beautiful flowering wattle. From our outdoor area you can't see another house, just lots of greenery. Our home has been decorated to suit our love of colour and eclectic bits and pieces collected from our travels. We also have a quite large home library with books on a variety of subjects, including some very old and rare books you are welcome to look through with care for their advanced years! We also have a 2.5 seater leather recliner sofa to relax on with a book or the TV. Our open plan living area has the kitchen at the centre, with lots of different spaces to sit and eat, read, listen to music or whatever.
Springfield Lakes is a 'master planned' community, meaning we have many facilities nearby: a substantial shopping centre just 3-5min drive away called Orion which has the major supermarkets as well as other significant retailers and a good variety of restaurants, cafes, tavern and cinema complex. We are surrounded by numerous parks one of which is just over the way from the house itself. There is a huge swimming complex called the Orion Lagoon which is free to use and has its own cafe as well as being protected by lifeguards. Public transport is easy with the local railway station being adjacent to the Orion shopping centre. We are at the end of the line, so you'll always get a seat if you don't want to drive into town! And speaking of driving, we are just close enough to main motorways to be convenient, but not noisy, so have easy access not only to the city, but to destinations in all directions. We are about two hours south of Noosa or north of Byron Bay and very close to the Scenic Rim area around Toowoomba to the west. There are also innumerable beautiful drives all within an hour or so of home, so many we haven't seen them all ourselves. Brisbane has many, many places of interest to local and visitors alike and we'd be happy to help you with suggestions as we run a tour business and know a few places missed my many. All in all, we've gone to great lengths to make our home a real retreat, so we're confident you'll enjoy your house-sit adventure here.
